About the Crunch
Sean and I love LitRPG, and we’ve woven the unique mechanics for this series throughout the book. You’ll see stats, menus, screens, and so on. To compromise with readers who prefer limited crunch, we’ve moved non-essential system stuff (such as post-combat experience gains) to their own chapters wherever possible.
Be Aware! This book introduces base management. We tried to keep those details as practical and streamlined as possible while keeping it meaty and engaging.
P. S. Be sure to read to the very end for bonus content!

Apocalypse BREAKER (Book 1) Summary
Authorized Personnel Only
SUBJECT: Dean Williams - Complete Strategic Assessment and Future Projections
FROM: [REDACTED] - Senior Analyst, Department of Extraordinary Threats
TO: Joint Chiefs of Staff
Executive Summary
Since the beginning of System incursions, this department has tracked the emergence and development of enhanced human operatives. Standard progression models suggest that even exceptional individuals require sustained System exposure, extensive training, and favorable circumstances to achieve significant capability enhancement.
Dean Williams represents a fundamental deviation from these models.
Initial Incident - Research Facility C
Subject Williams entered our awareness as a courier delivering classified research components when hostile System forces breached Research Facility C. The nineteen-year-old civilian was subsequently Activated through proximity exposure to a dragon during an attack by a System operative designated "Vek." Williams eliminated the hostile with assistance from a newly unbound dragon entity.
Standard protocols were followed for System Activation processing, though Williams immediately demonstrated possession of latent Mana Sensitivity—an extremely rare trait that dragon exposure had activated.
Enhancement Protocol Authorization
Post-incident analysis revealed Williams' unique genetic predisposition warranted unprecedented intervention. Commander Dennings authorized the dosa ge of Supplement Alpha for Williams' integration—three full canisters versus the standard 1/50th canister allocation. This decision, equivalent to enhancing 150 standard operatives, was based on scans showing Williams had earned maximum potential System rewards.
The enhancement protocol resulted in all seven primary attributes boosting to 100+ (peak human theoretical maximum: 85).
For context: our most elite operatives typically achieve 60-70 in primary attributes after years of enhancement. Williams achieved 100+ in all categories immediately upon Activation.
In addition to incredible Attributes, once we disabled the disadvantages of Mana Sensitivity he gained access to a 50% boost to any effect that uses mana. And the best part? That’s not his cap. Thanks to the three canisters; his true maximum is 300%. Captain Nicholson, who oversaw his Activation, guessed that implementing too much of his true potential, too quickly, might result in direct System engagement. Thus, she built a plan to gradually unveil his true power.
Tutorial Phase - First Anomaly
Williams completed his tutorial by accessing what our researchers had only theorized existed: "Void Difficulty" quest content. The System's standard progression offers Easy/Moderate/High/Hell difficulty levels. Williams discovered and accessed a hidden tier beyond Hell difficulty.
During this phase, Williams created the custom class "Apocalypse BREAKER," single-handedly eliminated multiple level 10+ Summanati operatives on a frontier world, infiltrated and destroyed an entire System invasion fleet, and acquired three relic-tier magical items including a daemon-corrupted weapon that permanently fused with his hand.
Our monitoring equipment recorded a mana surge of over one million units during his return—readings that should be physically impossible for a level 3 operative.
Initial Assessment - Captain Marvick's Evaluation
Captain Marvick's evaluation revealed capabilities that defied our understanding of System mechanics. Williams demonstrated an ability to partially resist Marvick's Ultimate-class restraint ability—a level 20+ technique that has successfully immobilized our most dangerous hostiles.
Williams was still level 3 at the time.
Medical analysis confirmed Williams' unique trait combination allowed him to generate non-System mana through his "Override Engine" ability, making him a living anomaly that the System both empowers and cannot fully control.
At this point, our models suggested we were dealing with an exceptional but manageable asset.
We were... optimistic.
First Deployment - Thanderkand Treasury Mission
Given Williams' unprecedented capabilities, we assigned Lieutenant Sharon McFay (level 24) as tactical support for what planning classified as a "diplomatic assignment with limited combat exposure." The mission involved preventing two rival adventuring groups from looting an ancient treasury.
Within 48 hours, Williams (with Sharon’s help) had advanced from level 6 to level 10 and eliminated threats with combined levels exceeding 80. His approach to "diplomacy" included single-handedly defeating a level 25 Elite takaltu commander and eliminating a Captain Jasteel Burstmeister in aerial combat.
The Daemon Incident
During this deployment, Williams successfully performed what our xenobiology department classifies as a "moderately suicidal" summoning ritual. HUD medical data confirms his heart stopped for over a minute during the process.
Lieutenant McFay performed emergency resuscitation, preventing permanent death. The result was Williams binding a daemon entity he has named "Robin"—a creature resembling what he describes as "a small dinosaur with the disposition of an enthusiastic house cat."
When asked about the wisdom of befriending a daemon, Williams replied: "He's a good boy. He only eats the bad guys."
Mission Escalation
The team successfully infiltrated ancient necromantic facilities, acquired pre-System magical knowledge, and established intelligence contacts with extra-dimensional entities. Williams demonstrated successful casting of spells he had learned minutes earlier, including Possess Interior, which caused a Greater Lich to tear itself apart from the inside.
His combat log notes read: "Worked better than expected. Very gross. Would use again."
Aside: During this mission, Lieutenant McFay was wounded with a life-threatening curse. Both she and Dean have proven reluctant to elaborate on the precise details.
Surface Engagement Analysis
Upon emerging from the catacombs, Williams encountered a three-way battle between elite clovash assassins, a diseased okaku barbarian, and an entity our xenobiology department believes was Telkazorin himself operating through a possessed shell.
Rather than retreat, Williams chose to intervene against a Level 18 Elite Clovash Assassin while carrying his wounded analyst. Combat data shows him surviving instantly fatal wounds and defeating an opponent with four times his combat experience.
The Champion Incident
Gentlemen, what I must report next has been verified through multiple independent sources, yet challenges every mathematical model we possess.
Williams encountered a System Champion—a wyvern variant enhanced with Unbreakable, Spawning, and Magekiller modifications. Rather than retreat, he engaged it in single combat.
He won.
His method, according to combat logs, involved crawling inside the creature's eye socket and manually destroying its brain with his relic weapon. When asked about his tactical reasoning, Williams explained: "The outside was too hard, so I went for the squishy bits. They didn’t taste very good."
Our combat analysis department confirms the statistical probability of this victory approaches zero.
Current Capability Assessment
Williams has returned from deployment having completed objectives we classified as theoretically impossible. His demonstrated capabilities now include:
· Combat effectiveness against opponents 10+ levels above his classification
· Successful casting of pre-System magic with minimal training
· Natural resistance to mental influence and System manipulation
· Formation of alliances with entities existing outside normal space-time
· Mana readings that exceed our instruments' measurement capabilities
His power progression follows no known curve. Each engagement results in exponential capability increase rather than incremental development.
System Response
The controlling intelligence has initiated an "Event Burst" in direct response to Williams' activities, accelerating mandatory System deployment timelines by 40-95% with dramatically increased difficulty scaling.
This suggests the System either considers Williams a significant threat requiring accelerated response, or views him as an opportunity for enhanced challenge development.
We can no longer determine which interpretation is correct.
Psychological Evaluation
Williams entered the program as a borderline sociopath. Activation appears to have granted him an ability to empathize; effectively “waking him up” from a narrow emotional spectrum.
According to Lieutenant McFay, the man has a compulsion to protect children and those he deems his friends. He appears to take his goal of stopping apocalypses (whatever that means) seriously. Outside of those parameters, she warns that he has retained his sociopathic tendencies.
To say that he has issues with authority is an understatement.
Strategic Implications
Williams represents either humanity's ultimate strategic asset or our most significant containment challenge. Current trajectory suggests his power growth will continue beyond our ability to measure, predict, or potentially control.
The System's accelerated response indicates Williams' activities have fundamentally altered the cosmic conflict's parameters. We are no longer operating within established frameworks.
Final Assessment
Since the beginning of System incursions, I have analyzed hundreds of enhanced operatives. None approach Williams' trajectory. He doesn't just exceed our models—he suggests entirely new possibilities for human development under System influence.
Williams has begun demonstrating capabilities our models suggest should be impossible: Elder Insights typically restricted to transcendent entities, relic corruption effects that modify System items on contact, and a daemon familiar capable of evolutionary enhancement through enemy consumption.
