Chapter One
Andrew Dolan rolled his shoulders as he waited. Normally not something he had a problem doing, for as a leopard, he was known for having the patience and ability to do so without fail. However, today was different. He couldn’t shake the unease that had followed him around since he left his house.
Everything was different and he wasn’t sure how to deal with it. It wasn’t known that he was a shifter, he’d done everything he could to blend in with this small town. He made sure that he only went out in cat form at night and was cautious not to leave tracks for others to grow suspicious.
While there were wild cats in the area, their catamounts weren’t anywhere the size of his leopard. Thankfully his job allowed him to be anywhere in the world so long as he had access to the internet.
He’d picked this location in Wales because it called to him. It was a small enough town that people tended to leave him alone yet, he was aware if new people came. He dealt with highly sensitive material.
Seated in his favorite diner, he waited for his breakfast to be delivered. He made a point to come in and interact with the townspeople a few times a week. They’d come to accept him and no longer looked at him oddly as the only Asian male who lived there.
“Here you are, dearie.”
His plate was placed before him and he smiled up at the waitress, Moira. “Thank you, love. Looks delicious, like always. My best to the cook.”
Moira’s husband was the chef of the small establishment, they were some of the first people to make him feel like he could actually belong here. He dug in with relish and made short work of the food and coffee. Wiping his mouth after he’d finished, he paid, left a handsome tip and walked out with a wave.
The moment he was in the street, that same urge settled around his shoulders. Glancing up and down, he took a deep breath and began the two mile walk back to his place. He didn’t mind, in fact he opted not to drive in, much preferring to be outside. He’d drive when he had to pick up supplies, but this morning was just too beautiful of weather to pass up.
That itch between his blades grew more and more intense the closer he got to his house. Even with his cat senses, he couldn’t pinpoint what direction anything was coming from. Had to be someone professional. He may not be a warrior, but he was a shifter, and wasn’t stupid.
He let himself in his house and closed the door. His cat roared in fury and he curved his fingers about the knob. Standing before his fireplace, staring at the mantle was a tall woman, her blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail, secured by a cream poofy hair tie.
“Who are you and what the hell are you doing in my place?”
“That depends,” she said without turning. “I’m going to ask you some questions and you answer them, you live. You don’t,” she pivoted, and he lost his breath, “and I will kill you where you stand.” She faced the wall once more.
Kelly stared at the man behind her in the reflection of the lone picture on the wall. Tall and lean his Asian features striking and attractive. His hair brushed the bottom of his shirt collar on his dark polo.
His leopard hovered near the surface, not anything a human would notice but she was a far cry from a regular human.
“Looks like you have me at a disadvantage. You know who I am, going to return the favor?”
“My knowing who you are isn’t a favor. It’s a result of me doing my job.”
His eyes narrowed briefly and she waited, still facing away from him. inside her, the beast prowled, unhappy at being cooped up for so long. It never fought her about it however, since her “liberation” from service when she’d met her half-brother and the woman who until that moment had been on her list to kill, it grew stronger within her. No longer under the iron control she used to maintain over the dangerous feline.
“Well ask your questions. You’re going to anyway and I’ve had my meal so I’m good.”
Now she faced him once more, turning in a slow controlled motion. “I really hope so. I do not have any wish to kill you. Answer my questions and I will leave.”
He crossed his arms, a low rumble of laugh escaped.
She went deadly still. A move instantly mimicked by her cat. All focus on him as if suddenly seeing him for the first time.
“I doubt that. Please don’t insult my intelligence, I may not be a trained killer like you but I’m nobody’s fool.”
She took several long strides toward him. to his credit, Andrew never even flinched. He held her gaze with the calm acceptance of one who wasn’t going to fight whatever fate held in store for them. It was what it was. And that was that.
“Why do you suppose I am a trained killer?”
He lifted his jet black eyebrows. Then again, as the sun angled to hit them, an offering of gold shone though. Her cat actually purred.
“Again, with the insulting and we’re not even personally or intimately acquainted.” A heavy pause. “Yet.”
Shit. This wasn’t good. She had no recourse if her body was going to behave as if she were in the middle of her heat. A time she sequestered herself away from everyone and endured the pain and longing along.
His nose flared and she knew the rich scent of her arousal had reached him. Those eyes of his flashed leopard and he closed the rest of the distance between them.
He didn’t slow, definitely gave her no chance to say no, without injuring him and wrapped her ponytail in his hand, yank her head back to be eye to eye with him.
“I’ve been without a touch from our kind for over two years. You tone it down before my cat takes over. Or kill me now.”
On one hand, she admired his restraint yet on the other, she wanted to command him. She had been without as well and for some reason this man was getting such a reaction from her.
“I can’t tone it down,” she admitted, not moving.
Everything held such intensity, she could feel her cells moving through her, sensory overload.
Heat morphed his gaze to liquid obsidian. She came in her pants, limbs trembling. Nothing, nothing, had ever been so erotic to her.
The points of his canines peeked out from his lips.
“What happens if I kiss you?” His voice had left humanity a while ago and boarded on feral.
“Try it.” Her fingers flexed, everything in her aching with the need for his touch.
Andrew held her gaze and she waited, teetering on the edge. When he moved, it was with his animal’s speed.
One second she was hoping, craving his kiss and in the next, it was happening. His canines skimmed her lips as he claimed her mouth. His taste coated her tongue and her cat came unglued. The effect on her was like comparing a breeze to a hurricane. That’s what his kiss was like. Putting her in need like a hurricane.
And I thought the heat had been bad.
No one had ever told her anything would ever be like this. Not that they talked to her a lot about anything. Heat happened and she was out of commission for a while. Then she was back, end of story.
Not now.
He shoved his hand down the front of her pants, not to cup her through them, no, instead he tore through them with his claws, making her far more accessible. The air hit her wetness and she tried to rub against him, needing something, more.
Andrew kissed his way down her neck until he stiffened and whirled her to the wall, pushing her forward. She had to stop her own momentum. Two thick fingers were shoved deep inside her slit.
“Yes!” she screamed, pushing back into him, humping his hand as he fucked her. All to soon he was gone and she snarled herself.
A deadly snarl that became a lower one as he slammed deep with a single stroke, lifting her up off her toes. Claws out, she dug them into the wall, anchoring herself there as he began to fuck her.
His bite along the back of her neck and shoulder, didn’t bother her as it should have. All she could think about was being taken by him. Releasing her right hand, she reached around and grabbed his ass.
He tossed her hand off, but getting the hint. Rotating his hips, changing the angle and speed, he had her guessing on how the next stroke would come. But they did come. Hard. Fast. Deep.
The man didn’t slow. He curved his hand along her hip and on to her pussy. With one finger, he slid down until the pad rested upon her clit. The slow, nearly lazy, circles he plied her with were the complete antithesis of the fast pace by his cock and yet, it only enhanced the entire thing.
Her body began to tremble as she fragmented. Her slit clamped down on him, earning her another deep growl as his teeth sank in harder to her, pinning her. Tossing her head back, she roared as he shot thick ropes of come inside her. Her womb clenching with a need she’d never had before.
She held still as he released her shoulder, his tongue swiping along the blood there. The point was to heal her, she got that, but right now, all she wanted was a bed. Lightheaded, she didn’t think much of it when he lifted her up into his arms.
Chapter Two
Andrew watched the woman in bed with him from below lowered lids. Perhaps he’d just made the biggest mistake of his fucking life but damn it, he lost control of his beast. Not that she’d minded, she’d taken everything he’d given and more. Retaliating as well, his back was shredded from her claws.
Never had his cat been such a formidable force within him before. He didn’t get much interaction with other shifters, and honestly, tended to sleep with women that left him feeling as if something had been missing. He wasn’t ever able to be as dominant as he’d like or rough. And not in a way where he wanted to hurt them, just more like he was scared he would just with a good hard fucking.
Not with this woman. She challenged him and his cat to give her his best and he rose to that, willingly. Her hair had been pulled from the ponytail and fell around her features as she slept. Her features a bit softer now but he wouldn’t put anything past her.
“What?” she asked without opening her eyes. “Am I snoring or are you trying to figure out if I’m really asleep so you can run?”
He gave into the urge for contact and brushed his fingertips along her cheekbone, tracing the faint remnant of a bruise.
“I’m not running anywhere. Ask your questions leopardess.”
Her gold tipped eyelashes lifted exposing him to that incredible sea green eyes. He knew her leopard eyes were a dark amber, but these were just as incredible to him.
“I need what you know about a man named Emol.”
It had taken years for him to learn to control his reactions when being questioned. It had been hard instruction, but he’d come out on top. Now it was being put to good use and he was pleased because no way this woman missed any acceleration of his heartbeat or breathing. He wasn’t even going to touch sweating. She was a walking talking lie detector.
“Never heard the name.”
Her smile was cool and calculating. “Is that so? Because I killed three men who all told me that you were the one to find him. That you had his location.”
“Ever think that they told you anything to try and save their life.”
She gripped his cock even as she nodded. “Yes. And that is a very logical assumption for you to make.”
His brain short circuited again. None of his interrogation resistance training had prepared him for this sexy woman stroking his cock as if she were just unable to wait to take him once more.
“So why are you thinking otherwise?”
“Because these men weren’t all together. I found them in different locations across this continent.” She leaned closer. “When the first one finally gave up your name and location, I thought okay, it may have been something to try and save his weaselly life. Then I encountered two and three. Receiving the exact same information from each of them, was too much of a coincidence.” Her grip tightened as she fisted him faster. “And I don’t believe in coincidences.”
Andrew swam against the current because he fought a losing battle. Fuck, he was ready to spill every single secret he held, and that was a good number of them, just to have this woman continue to touch him. Refusing to give up like a bitch, he mimicked her movement and slipped his hand between her legs. Not asking, just pushing two fingers deep into her heat.
A low growl left her and her eyes shifted briefly to leopard and back.
“Do you think that will sidetrack me?”
He leaned closer, pushing his shaft into her grip even more. “Of course not, I just wanted your wet heat around me and as my cock is in your hand, seemed like the next best thing. Of course, I’m always up for you sitting on my face and letting me spear my tongue deep into this pussy of mine.”
Curving his fingers, he watched as she parted her lips and panted.
“That’s right,” he praised. “Look at how fucking reactive you are to my touch.”
“Fuck me.” Her breath fanned along his lips.
“I am.”
She flexed her hand and the faint scrape of her claws couldn’t be ignored. “Inside me. Now.”
He listened, replacing his digits with his dick the moment she guided him in. Bringing up the fingers that had been inside her, he rubbed them along her lips then took possession. Her taste flooded him as her pussy walls rippled tightly around him. Neither of them lasted that long and after a few pumps he released more of his seed within her.
All his cat thought about was marking her and breeding her. Get this woman pregnant with his child so she would stay with him. Her strong hands were on his ass, holding him as tight as he did her.
“Tell me where he is,” she reiterated, even as the glow of passion faded.
“Can’t tell you what I don’t know.”
She watched him in silence for a bit, her gaze calculating. “Is that your final stand on the matter?”
I don’t want to die if that’s what you’re implying. “Yes.”
“That’s a shame, I really enjoyed fucking you.” She released him and backed away so his cock slipped from her wet haven. “A lot.”
He watched her move from the bed, vanish into the bathroom and come out later, fully dressed and clean from her brief shower.
“What happens now?”
A negligent shrug. “I get the information I need from you. And move on.”
He knew without any doubt, she meant it. This was fucking going to suck.
Kelly didn’t want to hurt this man. For the first time in her life, she wanted to keep someone alive. Hell, she still had desires to kill the woman who was basically her sister-in-law as well as her half-brother. But this man, he made her and her cat both long to protect him. However, she had to do this or they may never find the ones who did this to them, nor the others that could be their siblings.
Making her way to his side of the bed, she bent down and grasped him by the upper arm and pulled.
Andrew didn’t make her drag him, he stood and took two steps. “Where do you want to do this?”
Could he be telling the truth?
No, she couldn’t believe that. All three of those men gave up his name. He may not know all to end all, but this was her way to get to that next step.
