“So, where were you all night?

  * * *

I was looking for you so I could introduce you to Zach finally, but I couldn’t see you anywhere. Were you hiding away with Aaron?”

Misty and I had been sitting on the beach for a little while that afternoon. She had come to my house around nine, asking me if I wanted to grab breakfast. I had said yes, of course, and off we went. We had so much to catch up on.

It was a gloomy day, looking as if some treacherous thunderstorm was about to make an appearance. The ominous clouds threatened the beachgoers, leaving it practically empty for the two of us. You could literally count the number of people either sitting as we were enjoying the cool breeze, or fishing off the shore. A few kids were flying SpongeBob SquarePants and Despicable Me kites, and Misty and I just watched and talked. The two of us were fully dressed this time, having left our bathing suits at home. There was no need for them today.

“Damnit, I missed the opportunity to meet Zach? You’re gonna have to set something up so that I can get to know him and make sure he’s worthy enough for my bestie,” she responded, smiling.

I looked at her skeptically and said, “You still haven’t answered my question.”

  “What?” she asked, shrugging.

I eyed her letting her know that she needed to spill the beans.

  “You know damn well ‘what’.”

“Alright, alright. Yes, I was with Aaron, but before you say anything else, no, I haven’t screwed his brains out… yet.”

I shook my head. “So? What aren’t you telling me?” I asked.

“Nothing,” she responded, looking at me as if she were innocent. “We just made out. I’m planning on saving the goods for the night of his party. I’m gonna rock his world!” she exclaimed.

“Are you sure that’s what you want to do?”

“Of course! Hell-o! Have you gotten a good look at him? Now, enough about me and Aaron. Tell me about your night with Zach Attack! Has he asked you out yet?” Misty asked.

Zach Attack? Hell yeah, he attacked my insides in the best possible way.

I shook my head, saying, “Not quite, but…” I let that hang in the air for a while, torturing her just a bit. When she couldn’t take anymore, she grabbed me by the arms and shook me.

“But what! Mmm! Tell me, Brae!”

I couldn’t help but laugh. She had to be one of the most impatient people I had ever known.

I looked up towards the water and there stood Zach. He appeared to be chatting with Liam Kennedy, another nineteen-year-old local. He hadn’t seen me yet, but the way he stood there in his shorts and button-down shirt made him so fucking irresistible; he looked completely scrumptious to me.

“But… we shared the most amazing kiss last night, beneath a starlit sky, as the fireworks went soaring above us. It was magical, something totally out of a movie. But damn, Misty, he is incredible. He told me he really likes me. I told him I did, too, but I think I’ve fallen in love with him.”

She stared at me and her mouth almost hit the sand. “Are you fuckin’ kidding me? Oh my God, Brae! That’s fan-fucking-tastic! But hold up… love? What’s this thing you call love?”

She looked at me disapprovingly. Misty did not believe in love. I think it all went back to what her parents displayed in front of her. There they were, two people who were supposed to love each other for better or worse, but instead, one of them had run off. She certainly did not have a good example of what love was supposed to be.

“Yeah, I know how you feel about falling in love and you don’t want me getting hurt, but I don’t know. He makes me feel things I’ve never felt before with anyone else. He makes me feel… alive. It’s so soon, I know, but my heart is all in. I swear. Look, there he is now,” I said to her, pointing to the muscular guy in the white shorts and light blue button-down shirt. His long blond bangs swished from side-to-side due to the steadily blowing wind.

Misty looked up and saw Zach. “God damn, Brae. How the hell did you control yourself and not jump his bones last night?”

I laughed and nudged her gently. “Stop it! Come on, let’s go get the two of you acquainted.”

We got up, dusted the sand off of us, and waltzed over to the shore. Just as we reached them, we saw Liam had already begun walking off, guitar in hand. He always had that rock guitar with him.

Zach’s blue eyes finally met mine and the smile that illuminated his face was priceless.

“Hey, pretty girl,” he said, causing a heat to rise from deep within my core. God, what was he doing to me? “Hello,” he said almost immediately, looking at Misty.

“Hey Zach,” I said, “this is my best friend, Misty,” then turning to Misty, I continued with, “Misty, this is Zach.”

“Pleasure to meet you,” Misty replied.

“Ah, this is the Misty I have been hearing so much about! Pleasure is all mine,” Zach declared.

Misty smiled, obviously pleased. “Such a gentleman. My bestie did good.”

I blushed but let her and Zach continue getting to know one another. They talked about school and how this was Zach’s first time spending his summer on the beach.

After a while, I smiled nervously and grabbed Misty by the arm. “Would you excuse us for just one second?” I asked, looking at Zach.

  “Certainly,” he responded.

I spun Misty around and we walked a few feet away.

“What did I say?” she asked in defense.

“Nothing! I just wanna know what you think of him? He’s awesome, right?”

Nodding her head in approval, she replied, “Bitchola, he’s more than awesome. He’s perfect, and if you don’t move your ass and make him yours soon, I’m going to have to steal him from you… just kidding!” She laughed when she saw my face.

We giggled and then turned back around and walked over to him once more.

“All good?” he asked, running a hand through his soft, dark brown hair. His smile caused his sexy dimples to show once more. I was ready to lose my shit.

“Yes, perfect,” I mumbled, smiling back.

Misty, Zach and I walked along the shore for about fifteen minutes before she claimed she had to go.

“I’m sorry, guys. I’m supposed to be meeting someone by the bay in about ten minutes, and if I don’t turn around and head back soon, I’m going to be uberly late.”

I already knew Misty was referring to Aaron, but I nodded letting her knew I understood.

“It was great to meet you, Misty,” Zach said, giving her one of his famous, pearly white smiles.

Smiling back, she said, “It certainly was. Maybe we can make plans for another day to all hang out. Brae, you should totally bring him to the party. I’ll call you later.”

“Bye, Mist,” I responded, waving at her as she took off.

Zach grabbed my hand, and we continued walking further down the shoreline.

“Your friend seems really nice,” he said to me.

“Yeah, Misty is great. I don’t know what I would do without her. She’s having a rough time going through some family drama, but she’s doing okay considering. I love her to bits.”

He turned me around to face him then. “Well, she’s lucky to have such a great friend like you, pretty girl.”

As the water lapped at our feet, he cupped my face with his hands and kissed me with the sunset as our backdrop.

  Chapter 6

Three weeks had passed, and I was still on cloud nine from the way Zach had been making me feel.

  * * *

Every single day, we’d spend the night right beneath the starlit sky, kissing and making out, to the point where the both of us were ready to explode. I wanted him more than anything else I had ever wanted in my whole entire life. Truthfully, I didn’t know how much longer I could resist holding out.

At the end of July, on a gloomy evening, Zach and I were having our usual date under the stars. I hadn’t even bothered going home for dinner. I had completely lost track of time, but I didn’t care. Zach and I were lost in one another between stares and kisses on the sand. I had even missed the dark clouds rolling in.

Suddenly, hearing the roar of thunder, Zach shouted, “Shit! We’d better make a run for it!”

A crack of lightning flashed across the ominous sky, illuminating us. Grabbing my hand, he lifted me off the ground, and we took off running. We had been just in time for the rain to start pouring down all around us. Taking refuge under a broken-down bridge connecting one beach to the next, we stood side-by-side. Completely breathless and laughing, the water dripping from our hair landed in our eyes.

The two of us were both completely soaked, but I knew that he didn’t care, just as I didn’t either. Suddenly, pushing me up against one of the planks, he grabbed my face, kissing me hungrily. The firing passion and desire from his kiss was evident. I opened my mouth just enough to let him slip his tongue inside, and at that very moment, I knew I wanted more.

  “Zach,” I whispered, breathlessly.

“Hmm?” he asked, kissing the side of my face and neck.

“I want you. Right here, right now.”

He stopped and the look on his face said it all. “You’re ready? Are you sure that’s what you want?”

I was speechless, feeling the lust within me about to explode and take over. It was all I could do to nod.

“Okay,” he said as he grabbed my hand.

“Wait, where are we going?” I asked. I didn’t want to waste time and go anywhere. I wanted to go all the way with him right where we were.

“You’ll see soon enough, pretty girl,” he announced willing me to follow him. Once again we made a run for it in the rain.

The cool raindrops falling onto us were like a wake up call, immediately bringing me out of my euphoric state. No matter what though, I still wanted him badly.

“Are we almost there?” I shouted impatiently over the thunderous roar of the storm.

“Yep. I know a place, not too much further now,” he answered, continuing to pull me in the complete opposite direction of our spot.

As we reached the end of the beach, there, looking completely out of place, sat a worn down shop. It looked as if it had been an ice cream parlor or something of the sort back in the day. He continued hauling me towards the door as he pulled out a ring of keys from his pocket.

“You have keys to this place?” I questioned, wondering how the hell he had gotten a hold of those.

He turned to face me for only a second before saying, “Of course, I do. My grandparents own this dump.”

Making our way in, I could see that the place must have been vacant for years. It wasn’t dirty or anything; there weren’t any cobwebs stringing from the ceilings or corners, but it wasn’t in the greatest shape. It had most definitely been shut down for a number of years.

  “What happened?” I asked.

He disappeared into the next room and hit a switch, lighting up the whole room.

“That’s better,” he said, rubbing his hands against the front of his shorts. “My grandparents used to run this shop back before I was even born. It was the hottest and best tasting ice cream around, so I’ve heard. Then my grandpa got sick and ever since then, the place has been out of business. We still own the building. I just borrowed the keys from Grandma because I’ve been thinking about fixing this place up, so I can get it up and running by next summer, maybe.”

“Wow, you should totally do that! It would be awesome to have more than one ice cream shop in town. Pop’s is definitely getting crowded. You should totally see about reopening it.”

He shrugged with a forlorn look on his face, “Yeah, maybe.”

I couldn’t read his expression, but I could tell he was far away from here. He sat down on one of the stools behind the counter.

I needed to bring him back down to Earth and back to me. “Hey, are you okay?”

As if he snapped out of it just in time, he replied, “Yes, pretty girl. I’m more than okay because I’m here with you. Come over here.”

He grabbed my hands and pulled me closer to him so that I was standing in between his legs. I instantly wrapped my arms around his neck and his went around my waist.

“You’re so beautiful, Braelynn. Do you know that?”

I smiled, blushing. He still had that same effect on me, driving me insane. But he was dead serious. His eyes bore into me, making me completely manic. I wanted, at that very moment, nothing more than to rip my clothes off, as well as his, and let him be the first man who ever had owned my body.

He softly brushed a strand of hair out of my face and kissed me gently at first. As I reacted to his kiss, our desire for one another grew more and more lustful, the want and need starting to pool at my core.

As our tongues explored one another’s mouths deepening our kiss, our hands began testing the waters as well. I could tell he was a bit hesitant with his movements, once he looked into my eyes, pulling away from our kiss. I nodded letting him know it was okay, but he continued looking at me.

“It’s okay, Zach. Keep going,” I urged him on.

“Are you sure, Rae? I don’t want to start something that you might regret later. I can wait.”

I shook my head. “I want this. I want you. Here and now. I don’t want to wait any longer. I want you all over me and I want you now. Please, don’t deny me, Zachery,” I said, purposely pronouncing his complete name slowly, full of desire.

Suddenly, he grabbed both sides of my face with his hands and began kissing me once more. This time, there was no holding back; he was giving his all to me, letting all inhibitions go. I could sense the need within him ready to explode. As he held me close to him, I could feel his length poking my leg through his shorts. He slid his hands down to my chest, feeling me up through my shirt before making his way under it.

I stopped him for just a second. “Wait,” I said, and pulled my shirt up over my head, revealing my pink satin bra. He took one hard look at me before kissing me once more, again bringing his hands to my chest. My nipples peaked with excitement as he undid my bra clasp, freeing them from their restraint.

My breasts were exposed and the look on his face was enough to send any self-conscious thoughts I may have had away. As he kneaded and caressed my left breast, he brought his mouth down onto my right nipple.

Holy crap… it felt more amazing than anything else I had ever felt before.

I brought my hand down to his shorts and undid the button first. Then, as I unzipped him, his hard erection poked out of his boxer briefs calling out to me. I had never been intimate with anyone before, but I knew enough about sex from movies and my steamy romance novels to know exactly what to expect and do. Plus, having a best friend who wasn’t a virgin always helped.

I placed my hand on his length and began stroking him back and forth as a guttural moan escaped him.

“Oh, Rae,” he said, closing his eyes from the pleasure he was feeling. He then placed his mouth on my left breast and began placing kisses on it before taking my nipple into his mouth. The sensation was driving me completely insane. I needed more of him.

As if reading my mind, he pulled off his shirt uncovering his well-defined chest. Then he took off his shorts and boxers, revealing himself completely to me. His very being was complete perfection. I reached out to him and he moved closer to me once more.

Stroking him again, I brought my other hand up to feel his pecs. They were smooth and firm.

“Braelynn,” he began, through labored breaths, “if you keep doing that, I’m not going to last very long.”

I chuckled, and that was the exact moment, he got up, lifted me up off my feet and carried me into the back room.

My exposed breasts pressed against his hard chest as he carried me. I wasn’t embarrassed like I had always imagined I would have been my first time being naked–or in my current condition, partially naked–in front of a man.

As if on cue, the thunderous howl of the storm outside became louder and more intense with each passing minute. The heavy droplets of rain slamming against the rooftop created a soothing cadence. The only thing missing was the dim lighting; the place was still completely lit up.

But it didn’t matter to me. Lights on or off, I wanted Zach to take me into oblivion.

The room in the back was a bit small, but it was just the right size for what I wanted to happen. There was a soft, synthetic microfiber brown couch, which he gently laid me on.

At that moment, the power cut out from the storm, and the only light in our view was the moonlight coming in from one of the windows and the occasional bright flash of lightning.

And now, the atmosphere and setting was absolutely perfect. There was nothing else missing.

He kneeled in front of me, softly kissing my cheek and lips, finding his way to my neck. He trailed kisses all the way down to my breasts again before continuing his path further down my body. As he kissed my navel and reached my shorts, he gently unbuttoned them, and looked up at me, as if asking permission. I again nodded my head because at that very moment, I was too far gone in ecstasy to manage even a simple ‘yes’.

Pulling my jean shorts off and throwing them to the floor, he took a glance at my matching pink panties. He ran a tender finger over them where a wet spot now evidently showed.

  “You’re perfect, Rae,” he whispered.

I blushed once again, lying there in just my panties. Before he had a chance to ask me if he could continue, I slid them off myself and threw them to the side, landing them on top of my shorts.

His eyes widened, probably from disbelief of how forward I had been. At any other time, my actions would have surprised myself, but right now, it was exactly the way it was supposed to be.

He placed a hand on my right knee and without another word, I slowly spread my legs, exposing myself to him. I was now completely naked before him and all he could do was admire what he considered perfection. I got so turned on by the way he was looking at me. His eyes were full of want and desire, telling me so much more than words could ever say.

  “Rae…” he whispered.
