I was also the beneficiary of generous residencies at Springfield Farm, thanks to Kinchem and Peter and The Stella Prize. So far I have finished the final round of edits of each of my manuscripts at Jacky Winter Gardens, so thank you also to Lorelei and Jeremy for the special place you have created there.

Jane Palfreyman and the Simon & Schuster Australia team, Grace Heifetz and the a4 Literary team, thank you for taking my little hopeful seed and helping it grow big and strong into this mighty finished Seed. I could not do this work without you and I treasure our friendship.

I wrote this book while listening to endless loops of blueblue by Sam Gendel. I am grateful for that album and how it can now instantly transport me back to Antarctica.

Thank you to my mother, father, brother, and grandfather. Our family is strong and caring.

And to my husband, Vincent: Heaven is Saturday morning with you.
