“Is this a thing that happens every time?”
“No. Only when in Fever.”
“So, this is your only time you can make a kid?”
“Until the Fever comes again, yes.”
“How often does it come?”
“Every few standard years. It can vary.”
“Huh.” She stroked his arm. “How are you feeling now?”
“Incredible. You?”
“Pretty damn good,” she said.
16
“You are wicked,” Phares said, staring at Jana.
“No, I’m not. I just wanted to get your lunch ready for work, since you’re going back today.” She finished making him a sandwich on blue grass bread.
“Naked?”
“I thought you said you liked it when I walked around like this.”
He pinned her against the kitchen counter. “Oh, I do,” he said, pressing his hips against her. He leaned down and kissed her neck. “But I have to return to my team.”
“They can wait a few minutes,” she said.
He unfastened his pants, and she wrapped her hip around him.
In a moment, he’d penetrated her, and she reached orgasm quickly. He followed quickly, and the two of them stood there, just holding each other for a moment.
“I swear, I think your Fever rubbed off on me.”
He chuckled. “I am not complaining if it did. Are you?”
“No.” She grinned at him. “But I would be quite happy just staying here and satisfying those urges all day.”
“We have done that the last three days.”
“I know. If I had told myself a month ago, that I would be this insatiable, I would have said I was crazy.”
“I hope I am better than your sex toy.”
She laughed. “That sex toy can stay back on Earth. I don’t need it anymore.”
He smiled and kissed her. “I have to go. You’ll have to be by yourself for the day.”
“Sort of. Agot invited me over later, so we might do something.”
“Well, that should keep you occupied for at least a little while.
“Yeah. Not as well as you do, though.”
“I don’t want anyone to keep you as occupied as I do.”
She smiled. “I’m going to go wash off, okay?”
“Go on. I’ll be leaving in a minute.” He readjusted his clothing. “Okay, I love you.”
She paused and looked at him. “What did you say?”
“I love you.”
She blinked.
“Is that wrong? Did I say it at the wrong time? Because Driqan told me not to say it during intimacy, so I have not. But I have been wanting to tell you for—”
“I love you too.” She ran back to him, and he wrapped his arms around her.
They kissed, but this was different.
It wasn’t the sexual fever.
This was more. More emotion. More connection.
All those things she’d always wanted. She couldn’t help the way he made her feel. She loved being around him. Touching him, being intimate with him.
Everything. It all felt so good.
She only wished she would have found him years ago.
“Good,” he said. And kissed her one last time. “I have to go, though.”
She nodded. “Yeah. Go. I’m going, yeah. Back there to clean.”
He walked to the door. She stood there and looked at him.
“Okay, bye.”
Stepping into the sonic shower, she relaxed as it scanned her, and started its cycle for her to get everything washed and clean. Never would she have thought a waterless shower would feel so clean, but it did.
Probably a good thing, because as often as they were being intimate, it was faster and much easier to clean up after. Then she could go jump in for more.
While he had done the fever thing he did before, that first time, they quickly learned that he could only do that once a day. Even if they had sex two or three times a day.
Which they had been.
At least as often as possible, anyway. Now, though, since he had to return to his job, they would have to be a little more practical about it, just because she didn’t want him to be late.
Okay, today she did, but she would miss him.
At least spending some time with Agot would help. She liked her, and the little baby was as sweet a toddler as she’d ever been around. All boy, but a sweet one.
She came out and dressed and was pulling her hair up as she came back out into the main room.
Phares was there.
Just standing there.
“Phares?”
He wasn’t looking at her. Instead, he was looking at the other wall, just out of Jana’s line of sight.
“What is—Tori?” She blinked. Tori was there, as was the red guy. What was his name?
“Olmed, are you sure about this?” Phares asked.
Jana crossed to Tori. “What’s going on? What are you doing here?”
“Polly’s gone!”
“What??”
“She’s gone! These aliens showed up—”
“Charro. They were Charro,” Olmed said. “They came in the night and took them both.”
Phares shook his head. “Why in the world would Erzo’s own people take him like that?”
“No idea,” Olmed said.
“Well, do you have any leads?”
Olmed nodded. “We have some records from Disguised Serenity and the ship’s tracking beacon.”
Phares nodded.
“What do we do?” Tori asked.
Jana turned to look at her like she’d grown another head. “We go get our friends back.”
“What she said,” Phares said.
Olmed nodded. “I hoped you would agree. I’m going to get some things, and we’ll meet you at my loading dock.”
Olmed held out his hand, and Phares grabbed his forearm. They shook, and Olmed and Tori left to get whatever he needed to grab.
Phares glanced at Jana. “Are you sure you want to come? This may be dangerous. The Charro are vicious when they want to be.”
“And they have Polly. I’m not leaving one of my only friends in the hands of kidnappers.”
“Alright then.” He crossed to a cabinet under the kitchen counter she’d not realized was storage, and he palmed it open.
Out of it, he pulled two very large weapons. Guns by the looks of them.
Mean looking ones.
“Wow,” Jana said.
“This is going to be tough. I hope you’re ready.”
Jana nodded.
Ready or not, we’re coming, Polly.

INTERGALACTIC DATING AGENCY
THESE MINERS ARE READY FOR THEIR WOMEN. BUT ARE THESE EARTHLINGS READY FOR THEM?
In an impossible position, Olmed is expected to find himself a mate or get out of the Mining Guild forever. He’d already screwed up once. He can’t screw it up again.
He agrees to go to the Intergalactic Dating Agency’s newest offices and let them find him the perfect mate.
Hopefully, there was an escape clause because Olmed may have to make some decisions that could affect him, as well as a lot of others. He’s prepared to do just that.
At least until the feisty Terran girl shows up, claiming to be his mate. At least, that’s what the IDA says.
She, on the other hand, has a far different opinion of Olmed than that. Like he could go jump off a cliff.
Tori wasn’t doing this. Whatever this was, nope, she wasn’t about it. The park wasn’t her idea. She was just going to dump her ex and move on. Get off his radar.
Then Jana disappeared in a flash of light.
Without thinking, Tori and Polly run after her, thinking it was some optical illusion. Now she’s on the other side of the galaxy with this giant, red-horned mate who looks like something out of a movie, and she’s supposed to mate with him?
She’d rather smash his face in.
Left with no other option, she must go through the motions for her thirty days. Try and find something redeemable about his grumpy butt.
And then it gets worse.
A lot worse.
Can they handle it?
Or will it tear them, as well as everyone else, apart?

THE TEMPTRESS’S CYBORG
GALAXY STORM BOOK 1
“You know the importance of this mission.” Emperor Bron’s high throne looked even higher than usual. Darkness engulfed the ordinarily bright and glowing throne room, and even the emperor was dressed in dark colors, instead of his traditional gold and red.
His words echoed down to Veta, as they did when he gave a direct command. Such theatrics didn’t threaten her. Still, the way the emperor looked at her, she knew that he was serious. Like he was trying to intimidate her today.
It didn’t work.
“Yes, Imperial Majesty.”
“And if anything goes wrong, you do what you must in order to protect the Terran Empire.”
She nodded. “Of course. My loyalty will always be to the Empire.”
He nodded. “Those atrocities tried to destroy us once, but their efforts brought the Terran Empire closer together than ever before. Their terror can only make us stronger.”
“Yes, Imperial Majesty.”
Veta kept her face dead of emotion, though she could not help wondering why the Emperor was sending a mission at all.
The Rhimodian had maintained this war for decades now. They wouldn’t stop, and they wouldn’t give in. It didn’t matter what the Terrans did, the cyborgs never surrendered, and they never gave up. They would rather die than be captive.
Made very few prisoners of war, which was handy, but still.
Emperor Bron stared at her.
“You think I am foolish to send a mission of peace to their home world.”
Veta didn’t respond.
He made a gesture with his hand. “It is merely you and I, Veta. Speak.”
“If you do not believe peace is possible, then I question the necessity of sending a mission at all. It seems a pointless gesture.”
He sighed, and looked away from her, into the darkness. “Peace is merely a ceasefire to regroup. You and I both know that.”
She couldn’t disagree.
Growing up always knowing war, it was natural for Veta to turn to military service. And at a young age, she quickly learned how to get what she needed, when she needed it, using any skills necessary to accomplish her goal. The military took notice of her talents.
Now, a decade later, she was one of the Imperial House’s most loyal officers, and performed missions that occasionally required a kind of touch that many male soldiers would not be able to accomplish.
Including becoming close with the imperial princesses.
Two young women with far different ideas about reality.
However it wasn't Veta's job to teach them the truths of reality. That was for their governess, Bianca. Veta kept them safe.
And whatever the cost.
The Emperor looked back at her, his cold eyes piercing. “But my daughter believes like her mother.” He ran his hand over his robe, his finger tracing the intricate embroidery on the lapel. “And that belief cost my wife her life. I cannot let the Rhimodian take my daughter, as well.”
Veta nodded.
“Either of them,” he said, gesturing with his hand, like it was an after-thought that he had more than one daughter. “Protect my daughters on this fool’s errand.”
“What if peace can be reached?” Veta asked.
“With them?” He laughed. “Those machines will never quit fighting. My daughters will then return home, realizing the error of their ways.”
Veta nodded.
He gestured for her to drop to her knees. “I have a gift for you.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty,” Veta said, and took a knee, as was customary when being blessed with a gift from the Emperor.
Though her hands trembled at the thought of what the Emperor’s gift would be.
She had heard from others that gifts could range from a physical gift to demands of sexual favors.
Immediately, she steeled herself. She did whatever was necessary in the name of the Empire. She always had—for doing whatever was demanded in the name of the Empire had kept her alive for years.
What was one more moment?
The Emperor parted his robe.
She closed her eyes.
And heard the sound of a snap.
She opened her eyes, expecting to see—
A blade.
A shiny, new blade, as long as her forearm, with a wicked, serrated edge on one side, the tip curved. The weapon of a warrior. One that would quickly take out any attacker, Rhimodian, or otherwise.
She accepted the blade, feeling the weight of it in her hands—not too heavy, not too light.
“Do you like it?” he asked.
“I am honored with such a gift, Your Majesty. I thank you.” Her stomach knotted over the price of such a weapon. What would this gift cost her? What part of herself would be expected for the Empire now?
There was very little left.
He nodded. “Good.”
A strange smile spread over his features.
One that made Veta question his motivations, making the knots worse. She bowed her head.
And sighed in relief when the Emperor walked a few steps away, his robes swishing softly in the otherwise silent room.
“Now go. Protect my daughters. Make sure they return to me.” He paused and glanced back at her. “And keep me informed, Veta. Anything you learn that might help end this war would be appreciated.”
“As you command, Your Majesty.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
USA Today and NY Times bestselling author Candice Gilmer leads a dangerous double life as a mommy and a writer. In between boo-boo healing and fixing broken toys, she writes stories usually to the tune of children's television shows.
Her books range from vampires and werewolves to mermaids and fairies to contemporary and fairy tale romances--a huge variety, just like her broad, geek-girl heart. She adores Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, and DC, (you CAN love them all), and her hero will always be Captain America.
Growing up in the Midwest, Candice stays close to her family, especially the ones with basements when the tornadoes come around.
All in all, she stays very busy, but really, she wouldn't have it any other way.
Well, maybe a little less children's television.
