They untied the rope from her body and carried her off. Jesus, I had just seen her only seconds and didn’t even know if she was ok. At the same time, I was grateful they were letting her go so there was a plus side. Dear God, I hope they are really letting her go.
“Now Miss Ryan I was good on my word and now I need you to honor yours. The video you have I’m going to need every copy.”
“Ok, we need a computer,” I told him with zero hesitation.
He nodded his head at another man and the man took off. “You have caused a lot of problems for me and we can’t have that.” A tall man stepped up to me punching me full strength in the face and it was the most painful hit I had ever taken. It was so painful I blacked out one minute after the impact of my head snapping back so violently.
When I woke up my head was pounding, and I looked around even though it hurt my eyes to do it. Wolf was hanging from the ceiling by his arms which looked way more uncomfortable than my position. He winked at me and I was baffled, did he have a grand plan? Because at that moment there were at least twenty men standing guard, several wearing bandages in various places. I guess these were some of our friends from my house and from when they grabbed us on the road.
It was pretty dark in the room when we arrived except on the outside were lights making it so you could still see, though with difficulty. I thought they were grabbing a computer but had no idea how long I was out for. It must have been sometime because Wolf was there, and the room was much brighter than earlier. My eyes became strained while I sat waiting and thinking so I passed back out.
Doc
Fucking bloody hell, I could not find the lass anywhere. I checked every route, putting cameras along the way and none popped up with the girl. Now I was pulled over at a rest stop and fired up my phone which had no reception this deep in the country. You had to continuously stop and check reception to see if you could connect. Thirty-two missed calls dinged on my screen and this wasn’t any fucking good. Instead of going through them all I started with Wolf and got voicemail. Since I had access to my phone, I checked the GPS, and it showed his bike and cellphone twenty minutes from here. That would be my next stop after the next series of calls.
I dialed Aidan, “Fuck Doc we have been trying to find you. Shit has been going down. Kayla went home and Wolf found her, but they went dark two days ago. Tristan is fucking losing his mind.”
“Aye, I’m twenty minutes out from his bike and feel I’m headed there now,” I told him.
“Ok good, the boys arrived two days ago and have set up not far from Kayla's place. I’m pulling you up now, ok you are two hours out from them,” Aidan was giving rapid fire updates and I was proud he was getting better at it.
I started driving while he gave updates, and I went the back route knowing Wolf loved backroads. There weren't many cars around, just mostly woods and curvy roads. My foot was pressed hard on the gas coming around the curve when a naked woman came running out of the woods holding a tree branch trying to cover up while using her other arm to wave me down.
I interrupted Aidan, “What de foehckin bloody 'ell?”
“Doc? What is it?” He asked. Doc’s accent was making an appearance and that was never good.
"Hang oehp if you need to baht, I'm going to leave you ahn speaker. Dere's a foehckin lass wearin a tree branch flagging me down,” I barked, pulling over.
“What?”
“Ye heard me, just listen while I see could be an ambush,” I bit out.
“Hi, sir um I was kidnapped, and they left me in the woods like this, please you must help me,” she pleaded with the branch trembling.
Her face was bloody, and she looked beat to hell. There were marks and scrapes everywhere from her clearly running the woods for definitely more than a day. When she was close, I recognized her right away, “Aidan I got her sister, bad shape but alive. Marry my GPS to Boss. I’m heading out.”
“Ok got it, done,” Aidan replied.
I hung up and got out to open my trunk. Inside I had a long flannel shirt and basketball shorts I wore to bed. It was all I had as the rest of my things were at the cabin Wolf and I shared. She was standing next to me and looked relieved as I handed her the clothing.
“Sir, thank you so much, my sister I think she’s in trouble too,” she breathed out getting dressed.
“Aye lass, I’m Doc. I’m with her man and we are trying to find her. I, however, was looking for you to get you before the bad guys eh. Clearly, I fucking failed,” I told her shocked face.
"You were looking for me? How?" I could see her confusion.
“Get in. We talk as I drive us out of here aye?”
“Yes, of course. I’ve never been so happy to see someone in my life,” she whimpered, starting to cry.
Aww hell. I told her what was going on and where we were headed. She looked relieved that her sister had eight men working on getting her out of this mess.
“Ugh I knew Amber was bad news. Stupid Kayla is so tough but under it way too sweet for her own good,” she put in.
Then I had her give me every detail of the place she was held while on speaker phone with Aidan and Tristan conferenced in. Aidan was going to start getting a list of possible locations for them to check. The smart chit did count as they drove during her drop off naked in the woods and said it was about two hours from where Doc found her. Which was probably close to the men and very local, but the amount of unused old factory buildings was a problem.
My GPS pinged. I was close to Wolf's bike and I pulled over. “Look lass I have to pull over and check on my friend’s bike, wait here I’m not going far.”
I walked around the car and looked at the side of the road. Then I walked across the street and there was blood randomly splattered around, a clear bike track that I followed into the woods. Tipped over sat Wolf’s bike and in his seat sat one of his phones but the man had another tracker it just wasn’t on. Shit. This I called into Tristan who would send out a local tow to grab the bike and bring it to them. The blood everywhere statement made the line go silent.
“How much blood are we talking here Doc?” Boss inquired, sounding calm but I knew better. Gage had mentioned that Tristan had taken his rage out on some poor unsuspecting tree outside.
“Just a fighting amount, nothing crazy. It’s heavier in a few spots but next to large footprints not Wolf’s. I took photos which Aidan will have over soon,” I went on, giving facts only because Boss wouldn't want comforting words.
“Get here,” was all Boss got out before hanging up again.
Gage
This room was wound up tighter than a tightrope strung across buildings with almost a pulse running through it. There were constant calls with Aidan and Doc but now just Aidan as Doc had brought the girl in a few hours ago. The two-hour ride Doc made in an hour and a half which was a good thing. He carried the girl inside as her feet were completely torn up after being outside in the woods without shoes for two days. Doc patched her up then carried her to the couch setting her down where they got as much information as she could give them before putting her to bed.
Two more days went by as we ran through every abandoned industrial building location by location. We were down to ten options and tonight we were hitting three of them. I knew Wolf well, so I knew if he was still captured it was because he was dead or he wanted to be there. The part that bothered me the most is he had a tracker on him that was not activated, and Wolf always found a way to activate the secret GPS. I knew that’s what everyone else was thinking too. If Wolf was dead, then probably Kayla was too which would devastate them all. A few weeks with her dancing around, her big contagious laugh, her scrappy personality, and killer food had made a group of hard men fall in love.
Sure, they laughed and had a lot of good times before, but with her around Boss was happier. After Deidra, Tristan had been a bit colder and harder. He had no problem picking up girls and being friendly but never happy just taking care of needs, it was like they were missions, in and out. I wasn’t even sure I had seen him smile as much as he had in the last month in the whole time, I’d know him. She came out of nowhere and breathed life into the house. We needed to find them tonight; it couldn’t go on any longer.
It was then my phone pinged, I looked down and smiled. “Hey Boss!”
Tristan looked over at me deep in planning mode, face made of stone, “Yeah?”
“Wolf is back online, and I got a location,” I proudly proclaimed. I knew it just knew my man had a plan and was just waiting to put it into place. Fucking Wolf always at the last minute but always on time.
I wasn’t fucking around and tossed Boss my phone. We all gathered around him and Doc got busy on the computer. Doc would have blueprints up in less than a minute and have them memorized in two, his photographic memory was the shit dreams were made of. I loved a mission with a positive purpose and the change in the room this time was a good one, going from tense to the adrenaline high before a job energy.
Wolf
Finally, after five nights the number of men guarding them had dwindled for a few hours at a time. So instead of 20-30 there were only 5 and they were spread out. The other men would be back in an hour if they kept the same schedule as last night. The second night the man came back drilling Kayla even though she gave them everything they wanted. I had to watch them punch her again in the face and I almost jumped down giving away the fact I was there by choice. Then night three another man sprained or possibly broke her arm while holding a knife to her neck, I gritted my teeth not wanting to see Boss’ face when he saw the damage the guards had done to his girl.
I had to give her credit that despite the pain she must be in the woman didn’t even fucking flinch. She was a tough ass broad. The knife I knew was intimidation to see exactly what she knew so when they pressed it in, they drew only a little blood. She looked them straight in the face and never cowered away.
A huge Russian man I knew from somewhere, but I couldn’t place him came in putting a stop to it all. “You don’t break my gift, only I can break my gift. If you put one more finger on her I will make you hurt in ways you didn’t know were possible,” he told them. Well shit, guess Boss has a little competition which would normally not be a good thing but now it kept her safe. Not one person wanted to try the large Russian man so after that no one touched her again.
The problem was they only gave us water so we both were getting exhausted, starving, and weak. I had made it days in situations like this, but Kayla looked pale and thinner after only five days. That wasn’t good because I needed her to have her strength. She looked over at me through the only eye that would open, and I winked at her. With the look of confusion she gave me I almost laughed but didn’t. Voices were close to each other, so I looked around and our guards had gone into the office all with coffees.
I wasn’t stupid enough to try to escape with two of us, there was just too many of them. But I could call the Cavalry, so I slid out of my ropes, grabbed my necklace, and flicked the on button.
Ha assholes tonight you are all going down and won’t even see it coming. I kept an eye out while I stretched my arms and hands giving them a breather but the truth was I could be up there two weeks no problem. I didn’t work out just to give my tattoos a 3d shape and look pretty, I had other uses as well. Then a door opened, and I jumped back up and hung from the ceiling with my hands tied. Every night I lowered myself to stand to stretch out and these fuckers were more worried about Kay. We would definitely have the last laugh; they had no clue who they were messing with.
Kayla
It was the fifth night, and I was so tired I could barely keep my head up. My left eye was swollen shut and the right was tired from doing all the work. My left arm was swollen so bad that it was getting ugly because the zip ties on my hands were so tight. The swelling and lack of circulation was very painful. It felt like my arm would explode any time so any progress I made on the zip ties was halted. I gazed over at Wolf who smiled then winked. What the fuck did that even mean? This guy was a total nut.
The guards came back on duty as the other twenty men came back in the room. I was over this shit and the badass in me was ready for a fight. But my body couldn’t wage war anytime soon as my fatigue was now coming in waves. The only pleasure I got was from seeing all the bandaged men walking around and a few on crutches courtesy of me and Wolf. Ha!
Then the most beautiful sight I ever saw came through a door behind one of the guards, Tristan. I knew exactly why he was named the Cavalry now. He was dressed in black head to toe so he was hard to see but I knew that man anywhere. One of his hands swung out, dropping a guard down but he caught him and slowly placed him on the ground and tied him up in seconds. My mouth I’m sure was hung open because I didn’t know how he did that, but it was the most badass thing I ever saw. His face was dark when it hit mine, but I was grinning, never so happy to see someone ever. I could feel a guard looking at me, so I put my eyes down, dropping my smile not wanting to give Tristan away. He dropped three more men the same exact way which I wasn’t sure how as he barely touched them. As he took in the room looking around, I saw him smile seeing all the bandaged men in the room and he shook his head.
It was on the sixth man that one of the guards shouted out spotting Tristan, and they started moving but the sound of a helicopter above stopped them dead in their tracks as they all gazed up. I was sure I heard Tristan say, “Jesus,” as the helicopter was hovering above the glass windows on the ceiling.
At this point Wolf just jumped down from where he was hanging like hey no problem I was just hanging out. Wolf and Tristan started moving in on more of the men as someone crashed through the ceiling windows whooping, Gage. Gage pulled two guns from his waistband and started shooting not bullets but darts I could see as they hit some of the guards’ necks. These three had thirty men tied up and down in under five minutes, it was unbelievable. I mean I knew they were good. I just didn’t realize they were way cooler than any action movie I had ever seen.
After that things moved fast as several men wearing FBI vests stormed the room but stopped when they saw all the scattered men tied up and down.
Gage, still hanging from a rope, was smiling huge, “Shit I always wanted to do that.”
Tristan strode to me and pulled a knife from his belt freeing my hands, feet, and body. He just picked me up with an arm behind my back and one under my knees without saying a word.
CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
Tristan set me on the back seat of a huge blacked out Suburban that had Doc in the driver’s seat. He moved my chin side to side, looking very unhappy then gently picked up my arm as I flinched which seemed to make him really, really not happy. An FBI agent walked up to the truck and Tristan turned blocking me from his view.
“Come on Walsh, we have to ask her questions,” the agent urged.
“You don’t fucking need to do it now, in the morning is fine,” Tristan replied coldly. Apparently, the man felt the frosty air and sighed huge.
The agent put up his hands, “Alright man I’ll stop by the hotel in the morning. Your boys did good work tonight, not one body and a lot of live men to question. By the looks of them someone did a number on a lot of them recently.”
Tristan looked over his shoulder at me and I just shrugged. I thought he smiled just a little bit but to be fair Wolf helped. “Yeah man stop by in the morning,” Tristan told him as he turned back to him. He then kissed my forehead and said, “I’m going to get the guys back here in a few then we are out of here.”
I heard the helicopter take off as Doc said, “Damn lass. Your sister is at the hotel with Ace so we will get ye fixed up when we get there. Ye scared us. Glad Wolf is a total idiot and stayed with ye. Looks like ye went down fighting and I like that.”
I smiled, “Damn right!” We did a fist bump with my good arm.
Right then Blaze, Gage, Wolf, and Tristan came out hopping in the truck, so we took off. We got back to a hotel in about fifteen minutes and it was a noisy ride.
“Looks like we made it just in time bro,” Blaze boasted to Wolf hitting him in the shoulder.
“Just like I timed it,” Wolf replied full of male pride.
“I’m giving you that just this one time,” Gage told him. “That was awesome, we need to do that more often. The boots Ace made me that went through that window are top notch and need to be used again.”
Tristan had an arm around my good side and used the other one to bop Gage in the back of the head.
“Come on Boss you see all the guards limping around everywhere? It was hilarious and a few had crutches. They did good and everything is beautiful,” Gage kept going reveling in his own mirth.
“All in a day's work,” Wolf proudly stated puffing out his chest.
“Shut up before Boss has a ball collection idiots,” Doc lectured, jumping in feeling the bad vibe from Boss.
Tristan did appear very grim as we pulled into the hotel and he still hadn’t said anything. He got out then carried me once again inside the motel despite me explaining my legs were fine. I was not put on my feet until we got into a large room and Jemma came flying at me. We hugged and carried on how we were so glad to make it out alive. Then Jemma went on and on about how she knew Amber was total trash and I should listen to her always. She leaned in and whispered, “That man however, two thumbs up, he is delicious.”
I replied, “Back off bitch get yourself one of these other studs.” We both laughed hysterically as Ace walked up, pulled me away from her and hugged me very tight. I was a bit touched because he was by no means whatsoever an affectionate guy.
Easily over a minute had gone by and he didn’t let me go until Tristan spoke up, “Fuck Ace, you mind? Doc still needs to take care of her.”
