  The Siren’s Demon

Darik loves the idea of a demon in his bed and when the chance arises his primary goal is to seduce and claim Trinity as his own. However, Trinity’s ex has plans to win him back and this puts Trinity between two sirens, each determined to have him.

Trinity is only half demon but everything about him is incubus, especially the dark half that will do anything to keep his mate from leaving him. Trinity doesn’t want to expose Darik to this and resists his advances at every turn until he can’t fight anymore. Then he lets his hunger for Darik take him over.

As Trinity falls for Darik, Trinity’s ex launches an attack designed to destroy the demon and his lover because, if he can’t have Trinity, no one can. However, Darik isn’t the powerless human he appears to be and won’t give up his demon without a fight.

  Chapter One

The squeal of delight floated over the roar of voices and temporarily drowned out the music playing in the background in the bar. Trinity Collins missed the shot he’d carefully lined up and groaned as his boss laughed at him.

He grabbed his longneck bottle and took a swig of his beer as he watched Ennis Wayfaire sink a shot to win the game. He grimaced at what the loss had cost him and shook his head.

Ennis grabbed his own beer and took a long drink before saying, “You got a thing for Darik?”

“What?” Trinity asked with a frown.

“The sound of his delight distracted you just now,” he said with a curious light in his eyes. His boss’s tone was a low rumble not reaching over the noise, but his demon hearing didn’t miss so much as the inflection of concern in Ennis’s tone. They were incubi, vampiric demons that fed off the sexual energy of others.

He took a sip of his beer as he looked away. He wasn’t ashamed of being captivated by the little human. He was afraid of losing his heart to a man that might not accept him once Darik realized what he was.

“He’s not unaware of our kind thanks to his interest in that site, Demons Are Among Us,” Ennis said quietly. “He’s not unintelligent either. He’d understand that humans aren’t ready to handle our existence.”

Trinity shook his head. “It’s a site. He’s never met a real demon,” he said. “What I am might turn him off and scare the hell out of him.”

Ennis studied him and Trinity glared, uncomfortable. “But he might fall for you, so why not take the chance?”

He shook his head as he took a swallow of his beer. “If I fell for him, Ennis, and he ran from me because I’m a demon, it would break me,” Trinity admitted. “I’d just destroy him by killing every man I thought he felt something for.”

Ennis knew that was the nature of a gray spade demon. They were harmless unless rejected by their mates.

“I think you’re just being a coward but since you’re not going to be doing anything tonight, you won’t mind night watch,” Ennis murmured. “I had a call-in.”

“Watch” generally meant he’d patrol a section of the city along with a small team of other men under Ennis’s command.

  “Not a problem.”

“I’m keeping my eye on that situation in Bossier,” Ennis told him with a frown.

A death stalker, an incubus who hunted at night and generally killed their prey, ruled Bossier. The breed had a voracious appetite and Ennis was worried one of them would kill his mate.

“You’re concerned about that club or the recent disappearances?”

Ennis nodded. “I want you to check out the club, and its owner, Drinzel.”

Ennis controlled this city, but he couldn’t interfere in another demon’s territory without cause, and a client would give him reason to nose around Bossier and that club.

“A new client?” Trinity asked. “I do a quick check during my watch.”

“I just accepted a client who said her sister, a human, went missing from there,” Ennis admitted. “Be discreet.”

“You think it’s a feeding ground for the death stalkers?” Trinity frowned.

Ennis was a shadow gray spade, a pure incubus demon. The breed, like the regular gray spades, never killed their prey, and having a club where the killers fed freely would make Ennis even more nervous about the killers being so near his mate. The more the stalkers consumed, the more they needed and the greater the chance of them coming across the water to this town in search of a meal.

“I don’t know,” Ennis replied, but his expression said he thought the girl had been prey. “Just have a look-see and ask around about the girl. I’ll send the info to your phone.”

The song ended, but the cheers and jeers at the game tables, dart boards, and pinball machine continued.

“I spotted him ten points, and he still lost,” Jase Kinney, Ennis’s fiancé, announced as he and his best friend, Darik Cooper, joined them at the pool table.

“So what?” Darik muttered sulkily. “You cheat.”

“I do not,” Jase exclaimed. “You just suck.”

Darik rolled his brown eyes and Trinity noticed the slight look of consternation on the younger man’s face. His first thought was to reach out and smooth it away, but he held back like he always did. Darik was more than a little attractive with his short black hair and button nose, but Trinity wasn’t sure the human was truly capable of handling what Trinity was.

“It’s not my game,” Darik said and edged a little closer to Trinity. His hand brushed Trinity’s thigh before gliding up to his waist. “I’m better at other things.” He turned his gaze on Trinity and smiled.

“That doesn’t count,” Jase said, humor in his tone. “You’re such a flirt.”

“Mind your own business,” Darik answered darkly. “Can you give me a ride home? I’m a little tired. It was a super long day and Mr. Victory over there is getting on my nerves.”

  Jase snorted.

“Sure,” Trinity said with a smile. “I need to get out of here myself.”

Darik kissed Trinity’s jaw. “Thanks.” He stepped back.

Trinity threw his friend a look to find Ennis watching them intensely. “Later,” Trinity said with a wave.

  “Be careful,” Ennis called.

Trinity threw his friend a look, knowing exactly what he meant. “To the bone, man,” he replied as he threw him a peace sign before turning back to Darik.

“I really appreciate this,” Darik said and linked his arm through Trinity’s as they strolled to the door.

Trinity liked the feel of Darik’s hand on his bare skin as he caressed him lightly, yet with a possessiveness that told the men watching them that neither of them was available. However, nothing was going to happen between them.

“Hey, Trinity. Come buy me a drink?”

He glanced to the bar and gave the pretty blond, Gary, a smile. He and Gary had dated for a little while. He’d enjoyed feeding from him, but he had no plans to get involved with him again.

“Awe, come on.” Gary pouted. “I’ve been waiting for you to leave that pool table all evening.”

Gary was a siren with very delicious energy. He was also seductive as hell, with the power to bind Trinity to him if Trinity wasn’t careful.

“Not tonight, Gary,” Trinity said. Nor any other night. He’d stopped dating the siren a month ago when he realized the man was slowly stealing his will to walk away.

Gary came to join them. “This bitch isn’t nearly as good as me, baby,” he said, reaching up to caress Trinity’s jaw, and Trinity drew back just as Darik gave the siren a shove.

“Hands off my man, sweetie,” he snapped.

Gary’s blue eyes turned stormy. If he looked hard enough, Trinity was certain he could see the ocean waves swelling forty feet high in them, but there was certainly no mistaking his rage. The scent of it was fishy and salty.

“He’s mine,” Gary said and lifted his hand.

Before he could react, Darik caught the siren’s hand and twisted his wrist so the palm faced up and liquid kelp sprayed from Gary’s palm into Gary’s eyes. Gary let out a squeal and Trinity grimaced.

Kelp was terrific for many things, but when a siren turned it to liquid, it was like pepper spray. He always wondered if that hurt the siren. Now he knew.

Gary snarled, eyes already turning red. “You—” He jerked his hand back with pain-filled eyes. “You’re going to break my hand. Let go!” he wailed.

“If you attack me again, I will break it,” Darik muttered and shoved Gary back.

“Gary,” Ennis called in a harsh warning.

The siren was in Ennis’s territory, along with members of his small clan. Ennis could kick them out or kill them if they disobeyed his rules of engagement with humans.

All Trinity could think was damn, Darik was hot, manhandling that siren like he was a crab with claws at the ready.

“Let’s get out of here,” Trinity said, running a hand up Darik’s back as he slowly released the siren.

Trinity didn’t blame him for taking his time. However, he’d be the one most likely to fall victim to one of Gary’s tricks. Sirens didn’t like being turned down.

“Are you okay, He-Man?” Trinity teased as they stepped out into the night.

“I’m fine,” Darik muttered. “He is such a jerk. Please tell me you haven’t been sleeping with him.”

  “I won’t.”

Silence reigned as they walked to the car and Trinity had the feeling Darik was thinking that over and getting upset.

At his truck, Trinity unlocked the door and pulled it open for Darik. Darik looked up at him with stormy brown eyes that looked like a turbulent lake.

“I thought you had better taste,” he muttered, giving Trinity a cold stare before climbing in.

Trinity closed the door. A man had needs and he had to get them taken care of. Gary knew what Trinity was, and he didn’t care. On the other hand, Trinity couldn’t be sure Darik would be as eager to be with him if he knew what he needed.

He climbed in on the other side and slammed the door shut before jamming the key into the ignition.

“Are you still sleeping with him?”

“Not that it’s your business, but no,” Trinity replied and backed out of the space and negotiated the car out of the parking lot onto the main road.

“Actually it is, since I’m interested in being the man in your bed,” Darik said tartly. “Maybe I should rethink that.”

Trinity grunted. “Probably a good idea,” he agreed. The boy had no idea what he’d be getting into, and he’d told him that a few months ago when he and Darik had first met at the photography studio Darik co-owned with Jase.

“I’m sure it is,” Darik said with disdain. “I’d likely have better luck with an incubus. At least he’d make me the object of his affections.”

“Careful there, baby boy. You might not like just where that will go,” he drawled lazily. He wouldn’t like being food and a hard-used sex toy. Most of his breed, even the half-humans like himself, were better endowed and more sexually voracious than little Mr. Hot-to-Trot could handle.

“Sounds like you’re a little jealous,” Darik said primly. “But that’s surprising, considering you don’t even look my way unless you have to.”

  Trinity looked.

Hell, he gawked. Darik had a high, tight ass that begged for his hands to knead it and his dick to slide into it.

The boy was so fine Trinity had a picture he’d stolen from Ennis. It had been of Jase and Darik, but Trinity had cut Jase out. Then, he’d put that on his ceiling and every night he took his time undressing Darik with his eyes before jacking off.

Trinity knew he had it bad. So bad he was on the verge of hypnotizing Darik to feed while he fucked him. Only two things prevented him from acting on his base demonic urges to take what he wanted—morals and fear that he wouldn’t want to let Darik go after just one taste.

“Hell no, Darik, you’re a free agent. It’s none of my business if you want a damn incubus demon, but let’s think about this a little. Maybe I can help you see the flaws in your logic.”

“What flaw could there be to wanting a sexy man in my bed?” he demanded coldly. “You should know what that’s like. That ho throwing himself at you in the bar is not hard on the eyes.”

He laughed and felt Darik’s glare boring into the side of his face. It was as if cold water was crawling down his skin and eating the top layer away.

Trinity rubbed his face, picking up an overly dry patch of damp skin.

  Fuck. What was that?

  Chapter Two

Trinity glanced at him briefly before saying, “A demon has to have a bigger dick than you’ve ever had up your tight little place, he’s butt ugly with foul breath, and he has to be geographically undesirable.”

“They have a human form,” Darik said coldly, lifting his chin. “And a big dick isn’t a bad thing.”

Trinity grunted as he took a turn. “I guess bad breath isn’t a problem either.”

“You’re an ass, Trinity—I don’t even know your last name.”

“You never asked either, baby.” He smirked. Darik was angry but he was also growing more aroused by the minute. If he kept getting the boy hot, he’d be able to feed off him without laying a finger on him.

And Darik did taste good when he was hot. He was willing to bet Darik tasted even better during sex.
