part #3 of Crush Series
“Thank you, Ioan,” Rose said with a smile.
“You’re very welcome, my dear.”
Ioan smiled at Colton once more before leaving the room. He inhaled deeply as he walked away from the room, trying to push away the feelings that Colton always seemed to bring out in him. He’d thought it was a one-off last year that every time he saw Colton, his heart rate increased. He’d also thought this year would be different because he’d not seen him for twelve months. Obviously, he’d been mistaken, which was going to be awkward unless he could get his feelings under control for the next few days.
The rest of the morning was filled with his usual routine of taking care of several of the residents and supervising the games session in the large living area. The residents had a choice of joining other residents in games, like backgammon or cards, or sitting and watching a film, which today was Miracle on 34th Street. He hadn’t seen or heard from Rose and Colton, so he assumed they were still catching up.
After the residents’ lunch, the staff helped each of them back to their rooms for their afternoon nap or quiet time if they didn’t want to sleep. It was usually the time when visitors went home.
Ioan strode towards Rose’s room, knocking gently before entering after he was invited to. “Hey. I wanted to check if you were feeling a little sleepy, Rose. I thought all this excitement might have worn you out.”
He studied her as he came closer, noticing the strain on her face, though she tried to hide it.
“Actually, I think I could do with a nap.” She glanced at Colton. “Sorry, CJ.”
Colton leaned forward, grasping her hands in his and bringing them up to his mouth for a kiss. “Don’t be sorry, Mom. I’m not going anywhere. You get some rest, and I’ll grab some lunch. When you wake up, I’ll come back.”
Rose’s face lit up at his words, and she removed a hand from Colton’s and cupped his jaw. “My precious boy.” She kissed his cheek, then let go, peering back at Ioan. “Sleepytime, as I used to say to CJ when he was little.”
“You’ll feel much more refreshed after a nap. You’ll be able to keep up with your son better.”
She chuckled. “I haven’t been able to keep up with that boy since he was born.”
All three of them laughed as Rose headed to her bed. Ioan helped get her situated and moved into the hallway so Colton could say goodbye. When Colton exited and closed the door quietly, Ioan took in the stress on his face.
“Are you okay, Colton?”
Colton sighed and rubbed a hand over his face. “I hate this. I hate having such a short time with her.” He smiled half-heartedly at Ioan. “But she loves it here, which makes it easier to leave.” He shook his head. “Three thousand miles is a long way away from family.”

About Elouise East
Elouise East writes sweet and steamy connections in gay romance. She also touches on taboo stories under the name Elouise R East.
Books that tell the stories where friendship and family are the focal point - be it blood family or chosen - are very important to her. That’s why she includes a variety of personalities, talents, ages, situations and abilities as she believes a story or character needs. She wants her characters to be real, to be relatable, to be free to have whatever views they tell her they have. And trust her, most of the time, she does not have any say in the matter!
Her characters come to life on the page for her as well as her readers. Their stories unfold in front of her as she writes, and she has very little input into how they want to be shown. Just like real life, the lives of her characters change with every choice, every interaction and every conversation. And she wouldn’t have it any other way.
She writes books that are emotionally realistic, even if liberties are taken with other aspects of the stories. She doesn’t know any other way to write. It comes from deep inside.
Who is she? A single parent to two children living in the UK. An avid reader who still tries to devour every book she can get her hands on. A student of learning about any subject that takes her fancy. An author of books she would read herself. And a romantic at heart who loves anything cheesy.
Who’s joining her on her journey?
Stalk her here… ;-)
