Bride of Lucifer: Mate of Destruction is an ***18+*** dystopian fantasy. This book is spicy, gritty, and intense with high heat levels, a Hell on Earth “Vegas-on-Steroids” tourist trap, sexual tension battles, murder, sexy angels and demons, bride trials, and more! This book ended up much more humorous than I’d intended, but I blame Astraea.

Heroine: Astraea is badass, sweet but a bit psycho, salty AF, and has past trauma. I torture my ladies so I may chisel them into their destined goddesses! When she gets knocked down—even by the dark love interest/s—she comes back swinging. Astraea gets to be as aggressive, as powerful, and as toxic as the alpha-holes around her because women shouldn’t have to be perfect to be valid.

Anti-Hero: Lucifer is a sexy, scarred stalker. With his own trauma, he’s tortured, possessive, aggressive, cunning, and broody. He owns his demons, and he’s damn proud of them. And Lucifer loves dirty talk!

Anti-Heroes: (Yes, there is more than one love interest. No, I’m not telling you. This is a SERIES.) I write dark love interests and shameless villains. The kind you love to hate AND love to love along since they’d burn the world for the heroine. And maybe they have a heart of gold beneath their assholery. They sure know how to make those girls moan and swoon and drool and scream and beg for more.

DISCLAIMER: Author is very responsible for any drooling, moaning, fantasizing, clenching, panty-wetting, and/or obsessing over sexy characters. Author advises keeping a partner or vibrator close.

I write enemies-to-lovers and hate-to-love NEVER insta-love. Even my spicy works can be slow-burn. My works are not for everyone, though 18+ or older and spicy fantasy romance addicts will fall in love. My work features themes of trauma-healing, sex positivity, positive sexuality, and feminism.

Bride of Lucifer is perfect for spice lovers with angels and demons/monsters. And Lucifer on Netflix, of course!

Queer identities and lifestyles are all normalized and respected in my fantasy universes as they should be in real life. Everyone deserves respect and humanity. Learn more about my platform on my social media pages. Or subscribe to my newsletter at www.emilybethshore.com.

FINAL P.S.: As you know, I divided Bride of Lucifer into TWO books. Hell on Earth and The Bride Trials. Like the others, #3 turned out longer than I expected. But I loved showing Abaddon and Lucifer’s POV’s more. I guess I have a touch of Lucifer in me because I love to torture readers and play the end game.

Reminder: I don’t write insta-love. The characters have to go through a lot of struggles and battles and develop a die-hard foundation before they all come together. I hope you continue to enjoy the journey through all the hair-tugging while you ruin the edge of your seat. Please don’t throw your Kindles. I’m not responsible for any destruction. Neither is Abaddon. Thank you!

“They’ll never welcome you inside again.”

Chest quaking and spirit shaking, I ignore the smoky velvet voice behind me and lunge for the Gates of Hell on Earth.

For the hundredth time, inertia propels me back, sending me hurling into the air on six wings. Four don’t feel real. Then again, nothing feels real here.

“I am Queen of Hell on Earth,” I deny the invasive presence, who has trailed me for days in this space and time, unless it’s been longer. “Lucifer!” I scream for my King, expecting him to show up any time.

  Where the hell is he?

Shoving my way through the countless spirit figures proves to be much more difficult than any other time. Their auras tangle with mine. Colors of emotions burst into my spirit like fireworks sparkling inside me, detonating from my heart. My hand skirts the soul energy, knowing I may harness the powerful auras at any time. But I jump away like they’ve seared me. And fly for the Gates again.

When the force sends me sprawling back, my wings impact with hers. This time, she snarls and binds her hands around my aura strings, knotting them and pulling me forward, holding me still against her. Fear drives its blade through my spine. My first instinct is to struggle, to war with the spirit because she’s the one being with equal power here.

“Astraea,” she demands my attention, her dark eyes staring me down with icy brutality.

We deadpan in a stalemate of willpower, spirit against spirit with my aura shining in flaming gold to her starless black. Everything fades to silence. That new-birth heart hammers in my eardrums. I tremble in the stillness, shiver from her likeness, so similar to Abaddon with her bronze skin, dark curls settling around her lower neck, and those black hole eyes with their gold eternity ring. Or this is simply how I perceive her, the one way I can since she is half his soul.

Without missing a beat, the angel before me cups my shoulders, fingers sweeping to my neck to cradle my face. “It’s time to go home, Astraea.”

As soon as I sag my shoulders in surrender, the angel gathers me into her arms and holds me, nurtures me like a mother would. As if she has watched me all my life from behind a veil, a frost-covered window. One that shattered, veil torn apart—the moment I beat my wings almost bloody and plunged into the middle of the sky battle, stopping Lucifer and Abaddon and the army in their tracks.

I have no memory of what happened after. Apart from waking here.

Leaning into the angel, I bury my face into her shoulder, freeing the tears I’ve held back so long. The adrenaline from my attempts fades, unveiling the splintering, unbearable pain in my back. The agony of rebirth.

Azrael caresses my curls, sifting her fingers into my hair while I breathe her aura that smells of amber and pepper, woody and warm. It grounds and centers me, distracting me from that pain and aching heaviness from my newborn seraph wings.

“H-how long have I—have we been here?” I wonder, swiping at my tears.

“Too long.” She sets her flawlessly curved jaw before skirting her hand down my arm. It tickles like the frayed ends of ribbons.

“Why are you here now? Why don’t you hate me? What am I supposed to do?”

Smiling and stroking the back of my hand with her thumb, the angel gestures me to her side. Her black wings brush across mine, and I shiver because they feel like a moonless winter night lost in a storm.

“I could never hate you, firefly,” she echoes Abaddon’s sweet name for me. And squeezes my hand. Dark eyes glinting with constellations of pure treasure, she continues, “I wandered for eons, drifting aimlessly through whole universes, ever searching for a soul who was strong enough to bear mine. Lost for so long, until I found you.”

We move through the borderlands of Hell on Earth with Azrael’s shadows concealing us in a cocoon of pure nightshade to mirror Abaddon’s power. Utterly unaware of our presence, hundreds of figures ghost past us.

I thread my brows low, swallowing a suspicious knot in my throat. “Why couldn’t you return to Abaddon?”

“Once a soul is cleaved in half, it cannot return on its own will to its mate. Oh, it may unite again. Just as with a broken heart, you may fuse it together, but the crack remains. It will never be the same.” Her smile confounds me, until I register it’s a smile of freedom. But I can’t imagine what she intends to do with such freedom, what it means for me. Fear, sharp and cold, plagues my spirit, transforming my aura to colors of gray and blue.

“H-how would you unite?” I dare to ask.

She pauses, roams her gaze across me, and smiles knowingly. I tremble from the intimate implication, my aura shimmering amethyst at the edges, responding to the emotions I can’t control, emotions birthed from every beautiful moment spent with Abaddon.

She pauses and reaches up to stroke my curls. “You came from Lilith’s womb. The first spawn born of seraph and demon. A lethal, unstoppable combination. You are the only one who could bear the strength and purity of all that is Death. Surely, you must have felt it all these years. The serpent bound to your flesh and spirit is evidence enough.”

I touch the ink collar at my throat, but I cannot summon Sammy in this form. Forbidden from the astral realm, Sammy has earned himself a long and worthy rest.

“What does Sammy have to do with it?” I knit my brows low in confusion.

Azrael curves the corners of her mouth into a proud smile. It’s as if a thousand libraries filled with ancient scrolls consume her timeless eyes. Gooseflesh pebbles my astral form, and my aura glimmers a heated gold of frustration because she’s not about to reveal the answer.

“It is not my place to confess such a secret, my dear child. For Samael transcends even my time.”

I part my lips, astonished at the implication. Older than the Angel of Death. My Sammy who chose me, who loves me.

The shadows carry us, transporting us within spirit speed until we arrive at the shore of the Elloria River. Azrael commands her shades to linger as if knowing I’m not yet ready to return to those celestial isles among the clouds. Those distant golden castles reflect in the water, shining like millions of diamonds soaked in sunbeam—powerful enough to blind any mortal. Not an angel’s supernatural orbs.
