Toby grinned, mouth poised over the long, wide shaft and said, “You’ve got nothing to worry about, Dan, yours is still really nice, and very big. You have more than enough for me. My own isn’t anywhere near this big.”

Dan grinned even wider and said, “Oh baby, yours is just right to me … and your ass, my god it’s beautiful! When I saw your ass at the station, I just about came in my uniform! You’re just right all over; damn near perfect, I’d say.” They looked deeply into each other’s eyes and smiled, both sensing a connection that was running deeper than just the sexual moment. Then they simultaneously plunged onto each other’s cocks.

Their feeding frenzy lasted only a minute or two. They exploded into mouths and throats with the kinds of moans and body jerks that only powerful climaxes can trigger. After they sat up and kissed each other like lovers, Dan returned the seats to their normal positions, and they caught their breath as they pulled their clothes back on.

After a bit, he broke the comfortable silence. “So, what happened after you both, you know …”

Toby sighed and slumped back in his seat. He spoke with a note of sadness, “I was lying in his arms and telling him how amazing and wonderful and sexy he was. Then I said, ‘I think I love you.’ He sat up and looked me in the eye and had that sad look in his again.” Toby shook his head and his eyes welled a bit. “He said, ‘Don’t fall in love with me, Toby Briggs. You are a handsome, intelligent and very sexy young man, who has his whole life ahead of him. I cannot share my existence with another.’ Seriously, Dan, he used the word ‘existence’! He said, ‘My life is a solitary one. Once in a while, I find someone like you … I have needs, but … I can’t fall in love. Anyone I loved would forever be a target of my enemies. Years ago, I was in love. Arch Demenic found him, tortured him mercilessly and then killed him. I’ll never forgive myself. Brian was the most beautiful and loving soul in the world; he was my world.’ Tears came to his eyes and mine, too, Dan. It broke my heart when he told me this. I mean, I could see such bottomless pain and sorrow in his eyes; I’ll never forget it as long as I live. I’ll remember every second of our time together, but that moment was … God, it was so emotional.”

Dan leaned across the console and hugged him. He kissed his head and said, “It is sad, isn’t it. What it must be like for him. I understand him, in a way. I mean, I can’t know what it’s like to be a half-human, half-bull superhero, or have my lover tortured and killed by vile creatures, but I know what it’s like to feel like I can’t have anyone to love and hold and make love to.”

Toby looked up into his eyes and asked, “You do? Why would you feel like that?”

Dan shook his head and muttered, “I’m a cop, Toby, and a closeted gay one at that. Gay guys don’t tend to trust or like cops, y’know – and for good reason. Most cops are homophobic assholes toward gay guys. As soon as I tell most guys I’m a cop, they’re gone with the wind.” He chuckled bitterly. “Either that, or they’re ‘uniform freaks’ and I just can’t relate to them.”

Toby rubbed his hand around on Dan’s muscular chest and said softly, “I’m not that way; I won’t run. I really like you, Dan. But honestly,” he blushed and lowered his eyes for a moment. “I have had fantasies about cops. But you, Dan, you’re better than any fantasy I ever had. You’re so big and strong and sexy, and so nice, too. I’m hoping that …” He stretched up and kissed his Adam’s apple. “That you’ll want to see me again.”

There was a short silence, and Dan sighed pleasantly as he twirled his fingers through Toby’s hair. Finally, he said, “It’s late Friday night, and I don’t go back to work until tomorrow night. Do you have any commitments tomorrow?”

Toby smiled up at him and replied, “No, no commitments. What did you have in mind?”

“Well, you could come to my place, and we could see where this goes.”

“That sounds interesting.” He smiled wickedly, then said to Dan’s chest, “He did say that he might find me again someday, and we could have a night together … if I wasn’t spoken for by then. He said he would be very surprised if someone hadn’t already won my heart by then. He said … it’s hard for me to repeat things like this about myself, but he made me feel so good, y’know? He said that I was special and would make the special one who lights the stars in my eyes the happiest man in the world. That’s how he said it! I laughed.”

“Don’t laugh, Toby. I’m a pretty good judge of character, and having met you under extraordinary circumstances, I see exactly what he’s talking about. And, look at it from my side: I’m going about my shift, doing my thing, when suddenly, a superhero lands in front of me and deposits a naked angel in my arms! I mean, if that’s not a sign of something meant to be, I don’t know what is!” They both laughed, and Dan caressed his shoulder.

Toby said, “Yeah. He could have given me some clothes, but he said something about the symbolism of bringing me there naked. I didn’t argue with him, even though it was pretty embarrassing.”

Dan shuddered as he felt drawn to the boy in a way he’d never felt in his life. He lifted his chin with his finger and looked into his eyes. “We don’t know what the future holds, but I think we would be crazy not to give this a chance. Please, come home with me.”

  “OK.”

Across the metropolis, in his beautiful penthouse, the black as midnight bull-man lay alone, staring at the ceiling, remembering the evening with the sweet college student, how he tingled when the boy looked into his eyes, so trusting, so innocent and so very hungry. He’d seen maybe first love in those eyes, or maybe just first hungry lust, but beautiful to behold, either way.

These deadly mind games with Arch Demenic had to stop. While he was winning most battles, he was losing the war. The deep, sinister connection he and Demenic had between their equally transcendent minds was what had enabled Arch to distract him with a disaster while he moved in on the boy first. When Bull had seen the boy in his dreams and knew they were destined to love, Demenic had plucked the image right out of his mind and searched him out before he could find and meet Toby, whom he hadn’t even had a name to search for yet, just an image of him in his mind’s eye, an innate knowledge of his soul – just as he’d had of Brian. He had found Brian, and they’d had a rapturous year to love each other, enough that when Arch caught, tortured and killed Brian, Black Bull felt as if his own soul died. He’d finally recovered, after three years, when he dreamed of Toby Briggs and felt he could love again. But before he could even meet him, Demenic had proved once again that he would destroy anything of beauty in Black Bull’s life.

He lay there seething with resentment and rage, wondering if he could, or should, even bother going on, keeping the fight up, when he knew that as long as Arch Demenic lived, he could never share his life with anyone. It had been the hardest thing he’d ever had to do – besides burying Brian – severing the mental link that connected Toby’s and his fates, doing a furiously fast mental search and ultimately passing the boy into the arms of another man – a regular man, but a good one – who could protect him and give him the love he so deserved.

He held his arms across his chest and squeezed only himself. The huge black bull shivered and quietly sobbed as tears leaked out of his all too human eyes.
