“The gardens?” Jessamine asked, and she clapped her hands together. “That sounds beautiful, so let’s go there.”

“Okay!” Ariana grinned cheerfully, and then she patted her pet a final time. “Callie, I’ll see you soon. Be good, girl! And, new chariot… I’ll see you soon, too.”

The red-haired mermaid began to swim away from the stable toward the cliff that rose up from behind the palace, and my other two wives and I followed her. About halfway between the palace and the rock face, I noticed a circular area surrounded by an intricate white fence. Ariana led us through the gate, and I was immediately overcome by the sweet aroma of flowers.

“Ooh, it smells so good!” Cienna exclaimed. “I can’t wait to see more!”

“I know it’s a little silly that it has a fence and a gate when you can just swim in from the top if you want to, but I know it’s how gardens above the surface are often designed, so…” Ariana shrugged her shoulders and led us deeper into the manicured area.

As opposed to the wilds of the coral reef, the underwater palace garden was filled with white rock paths that curved throughout the sand. The plants grew in a variety of colors from greens to purples and reds, and collections of anemones had been carefully curated to best highlight the variety of species and colors. The plantlike animals, whose tentacles swayed in the current, looked like everything from cacti and moss to smaller versions of the octopuses we’d battled earlier. Wild fish swam in and out, of course, but their colorful scales were in a variety of spots, stripes, and other patterns only seemed to accentuate the garden’s beauty. The greenish glowing lanterns I’d become so familiar with were also placed at intervals on posts along the paths, and the effect was entrancing.

Ariana led us over to a bench that matched the fencing, and we all sat so we could talk about our upcoming trip. Then the mermaid pulled out the map and unrolled it, and we all huddled around so we could look at it more closely.

“So, like Marinus said, it looks like our first stop is going to be the town with the sandfalls,” I commented as I peered down at the parchment and gestured to the circle the merman had drawn. “Ariana, do you have any sense of how far away that is?”

“Well, my answer would be different if we had to swim, of course, but now that we have the chariot it’s going to be a lot quicker.” The redhead shrugged. “I haven’t visited the town since I was a child, but I don’t remember it taking more than a couple hours when my father took us.”

“I guess we should wait to leave until tomorrow morning, then,” I replied, and my wives nodded their heads. “What’s it going to be like when we’re traveling? Are there any sights along the way?”

“Let’s see…” Ariana said as she studied the map. “There’s a kelp forest nearby, which is really pretty…”

“Everything sounds so amazing down here…” Jessamine breathed. “I thought I’d read a lot about the world before I began this journey, but there’s so much in Fairyland I didn’t know about.”

“Yes, there are many spectacular sights under the sea, which you must have gathered when Marinus was describing our journey,” Ariana replied with a nod. “Even I am learning about new features all the time, and it’s fascinating.”

“I love it down here,” Cienna agreed. “I’m even getting used to being wet all the time.”

“Yeah, you are wet all the time,” I snickered, and the blonde raised an eyebrow at me. I had to clear my throat before I started speaking again. “Ahem, what were we talking about? How much do we need to pack, anyway?”

When we’d come under the sea for the first time, we’d brought nothing but our weapons, my plumber’s tools, and the clothes on our backs. Wearing the same clothes every day really seemed to cut down on necessities, so it didn’t seem like it would be as intricate a process as it had been to pack for other trips.

“We’ll need our weapons, of course, and we can bring that armor, and some lanterns for the darkest parts of the ocean, and Joe, you should bring your tools just in case, but we’re lucky we’ll be able to stop in the first town to eat,” Ariana said as she closed her eyes to think. “We can always fish and forage when we get further out into the wilderness, because you can’t really pack fresh fish. Jessamine, I know you can help us make food taste better on the road, so I’ll have the servants pack some bottles of various things to drink along with my filtration system that removes the salt from the water, but other than that, I think we should be good.”

“I was intrigued when Marinus mentioned a fancy inn, I have to admit,” Cienna told us, and she leaned forward with shining azure eyes. “Even though my accommodations have generally been regal, there’s something about a nice inn… Jessamine, Joe, do you remember the inn we stayed in near my castle?”

It had been back before we’d met Ariana, and the three of us certainly had fun at that inn. It had, in fact, been the place I fucked Cienna for the first time.

“I do remember,” I said with a slight nod. “And I’m definitely up for making some new inn memories. Everyone loves hotel sex, right?”

“If you mean what you think I mean, Joe,” Jessamine began with a bright grin, “the answer is definitely yes.”

“So, tomorrow, when we’re ready to go, I’ll stop by the kitchen to have them put together a chest of drinks for us, and I’ll also check in with the stable to make sure they have the seahorses ready.” Since Ariana was busy making a list of things we needed to do, I knew I had to get my mind off fucking my wives and focus. “They can also pack up the lanterns. I’ll go talk to them now, and then I’ll meet the three of you upstairs in my chambers, if you could pull out our armor and anything else you want to bring.”

“I think I’m going to change back into my armored bikini,” Cienna said as she tapped her chin. “It’s not as comfortable, but I’ll feel a little safer in it.”

“That’s a good idea, Cienna,” Jessamine replied. “Ariana, do you want me to make you a top like that?”

“Sure,” the mermaid said and nodded. “I think that along with our shirts of mail, and with the weighted leg armor you usually wear, you should be fairly well-protected. I’ll even bring a set of leg armor for myself just in case I need to fight in my human form. And we always have my protective bubbles, which are the best armor of all!”

“You all are so cheerful and brave about this,” I chuckled at my three wives. “I love you so much. So, Jessamine, Cienna, should we go pack up? I have to admit I’m getting a little excited myself.”

“Let’s go!” Cienna nodded. “See you in a few minutes, Ariana.”

After we swam back up to Ariana’s tower and into her chamber. Cienna and Jessamine quickly changed into their armored blue and teal bikinis, which gave me an idea.

“You know, you could be even more protected if you crafted something to wear that covered your stomachs, too,” I suggested. “Don’t get me wrong, I love the bikinis, and obviously you can’t swim in a full suit of armor, but back home we have something called a one-piece swimsuit for women. Jessamine, if you can just connect the two pieces together with more metal, it will give you better coverage.”

Jessamine looked at me and pursed her lips in thought, and then she looked down and appeared to focus on her body. The transformation of her garments occurred almost immediately, and my dark-haired wife looked up at me with a proud expression.

“What about this, Joe?” Jessamine asked with a grin.

She’d created a teal metal bodysuit that fastened behind her neck and covered all the skin on her torso. It was inlaid with intricate, swirling designs, and I appreciated her attention to detail.

“Yeah, that’s even better than what I was picturing,” I told her, and I gave her a thumbs up. “Having it come up around your neck was a smart idea.”

“Will you make me one, too?” Cienna asked her sister-wife, and before I could blink, Jessamine had changed the blonde’s bikini into a matching one piece in baby-blue. “Thanks, Jessamine, this is amazing!”

“What about Ariana?” I asked. “Obviously, it won’t work quite the same way with her tail, but maybe you could make something a little more substantial for her torso.”

“Yes, I definitely will,” Jessamine said and nodded. “As soon as she comes back up here, I’ll make her something.”

“What’s that?” Ariana asked as she came swimming into the room. “A new outfit? Ooh, I like what the two of you are wearing.”

“We were thinking we could also create something that protects you a little better,” Jessamine explained. “Here, let me show you, and if you don’t like it, we can come up with something else.”

In a flash, Jessamine created something for Ariana that looked like a pale green, armored bustier. There was barely any space between the metal and the top of her tail, so I thought she’d be pretty well protected.

“I love it!” Ariana exclaimed. “Joe, what do you think?”

“Looking good, ladies,” I told them with a grin. “Safe and sexy, that’s what I like to see.”

“Oh, Joe, you’re so funny sometimes,” Jessamine giggled, and she came over and kissed me on the cheek. “But I’m glad you like what I created.”

“I love it,” I confirmed. “Now, let’s see, what else can I find to pack right now?”

I grabbed the apron that held my plumber’s tools and threw it into a small chest we were using for various odds and ends. I was glad Ariana had gotten her new chariot, because it definitely added a new element of excitement to the dangerous journey.

“Are you excited to go, Joe?” Cienna asked me with a gleaming smile. “I know you’re ready to get to that… what did you call it? A hotel?”

“Yep, that’s right.” I grinned back at her and pulled her close to whisper into her ear. “I do remember that inn, and I remember seeing your beautiful body for the first time, and--”

“Oh, I know you do,” my blonde wife whispered back and bit me on the neck. “I have plans for later, don’t worry.”

I felt a heat rush to my face, and I squeezed Cienna tightly around the waist for a moment before I let her go. It was a little weird to feel her body covered in metal when I’d gotten so used to bare skin under the water, but any chance to touch my wives was a good one.

“Sooo, if we’re leaving tomorrow morning, what are our plans for the rest of the day?” I asked.

“Well, I could dry out the chamber…” Ariana said and blushed, and I couldn’t get over how adorable she was when she was talking about sex.

“But then what would we do there?” I couldn’t help but mess with the redhead a little bit.

“Oh, Joe, leave her alone,” Jessamine said as she swam over and poked me in the ribs. “You know what she’s talking about.”

“But I don’t want to leave any of you alone, that’s the whole thing,” I replied with a grin. “Sometimes I just like to hear specific suggestions…”

“I have a suggestion,” Cienna interjected. “Considering we’re leaving the palace for who knows how long, and we have a giant bubble of warm water to spend time in right now… why waste any time?”

“I like the way you’re thinking, Cienna,” I said as a tingling sensation ran up my spine. “To the bubble, then?”

“To the bubble!” Jessamine exclaimed. “Come on, Ariana, don’t be shy.”

“Yes, that sounds fun,” the pink-cheeked mermaid said, and I grabbed her hand to lead her out of the chamber.

Damn, my wives were fucking amazing.

  Chapter 6

When I woke up early the next morning in Ariana’s huge bed, I lazily stretched out my arms and legs and thought about how much I loved the warm water bubble. The bubbling hot spring at the bottom just gave me and my wives more and more dirty ideas, and last night had been more than fun for everyone involved.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to reflect, because my wives were already up and making the final preparations for our trip.

“Good morning, Joe,” Jessamine said as she came over and kissed me on the cheek. “I’m so excited to go on our adventure today!”

“Me, too,” I yawned. “Let me get up and see what else needs to be done.”

“Not much!” Ariana chirped from the other side of the room. “You’re not going to like this, Joe, but I’m going to have to let the water back into the room.”

“Damnit,” I groaned. “Well, whatever we need to do to keep moving. Are we really that close to being ready to go?”

“I think we are,” Cienna laughed, and she rubbed her palms together with anticipation. “I know it’s early, but we’ve all been up for a while.”

“Alright,” I said, and I dragged myself out of bed. “Let me just grab Genie’s Wrath… you all have your weapons, right?”

“We do,” Jessamine nodded, and she patted the scimitars she always wore on a belt around her waist.

“I’m going to cast mermaid’s kiss and release the spell on the room now!” Ariana exclaimed. “I can’t believe it’s almost time to drive my new chariot! This is so wonderful.”

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door to the chamber.

  “Who’s that?” I wondered.

“It’s the maids!” Ariana clapped her hands with enthusiasm. “A couple of my servants are here to help bring our things down, so let’s follow them!”

Two uniformed mermaids with their hair pulled back tightly into buns bowed slightly and picked up the chest we’d packed, and we all swam out of Ariana’s chamber for what I assumed would be the last time in a while.

When we reached the chariot, I admired its shiny green finish once again. I wasn’t sure who built things like this under the sea, or if it had been created with a snap of King Liron’s fingers, but, in any case, he’d done right by his daughter.

Six of the huge seahorses had been harnessed into pairs at the front of the carriage, and I noticed Callie was positioned close to the driver’s seat.

“Are you ready, Ariana?” I asked, and I poked her in the side. I was only joking, because my red-haired wife was practically bouncing up and down with excitement.

“So ready!” The mermaid grabbed me and pulled me into a huge hug. “Did you see where I had them put Callie? I can’t wait to spend all this time with her, and you, of course…”

“Ariana, I was just wondering one thing,” I began with a mischievous grin. “Have you ever actually… driven before?”

“Joe!” she laughed. “First of all, I am a ruler of a kingdom, so I can do whatever I put my mind to. Second of all, to ease your mind, the seahorses are incredibly easy to handle. One of the reasons I put Callie in that position is because I can communicate with her so easily, and she can convey my commands to the rest of the team.”

“Sounds great,” I said, and I kissed her on the cheek. “And trust me, I know you can do anything you want.”

The servants had finished loading up our supplies, and my three wives and I looked around at each other with excitement. Their faces were all glowing, and they had huge smiles on their full lips. I loved seeing them this way, and I couldn’t wait to start out on our next adventure.

“Are we ready?” Jessamine asked, but Ariana had already started to climb into the chariot’s driver’s seat.

“Looks like it… shotgun!” I yelled, and I rushed over to hop in next to Ariana.

“Joe, what the hell does that even mean?” Cienna laughed with a raised eyebrow.

“It means I get to ride in front with Ariana!” I joked, and then I slid over and put an arm around the mermaid. “Guess it’s the back seat for the two of you!”

“Very funny,” Jessamine said, and she reached over to gently punch me in the arm. “We were princesses before you even got here, but I’ll let it slide, this time…”

“Maybe Joe should drive, and the three of us can sit in back and relax,” Cienna laughed.

“Uh-uh, no way.” Ariana shook her head and grabbed the reins. “My chariot, I drive! Okay, here goes nothing! Callie, it’s your time to shine.”

The chariot was parked right next to the stables, so I wondered how Ariana was going to maneuver her way out of the tight spot. I watched her purse her lips in concentration, and then, with a gentle maneuver of the reins, she turned the chariot slightly so it was facing the proper direction. As she furrowed her brow in thought, she pulled back on the thick, kelp ropes, and the chariot began to rise slowly up into the water. Then she navigated around the sides of the towers and up past the dome covering the hot springs, and I looked back to see her staff waving goodbye.

“You’re doing amazing, Ariana!” I praised her as I waved back to the merpeople floating near the ground, and then I turned back to my red-haired wife and patted her on the shoulder.

“Thanks, Joe,” the mermaid said, and she blushed bright pink. “I think it’s just because Callie and I have such good communication. I barely have to touch the reins, and she knows what I want her to do.”

“Just like me and Starlight!” Cienna sighed as she leaned over the backs of our seats. “I know I’ve been talking about it a lot, but I miss her so much. Ariana, maybe you’ll let me snuggle with your seahorses. Although, they are a little damp…”

“You can cuddle with them any time you want,” Ariana laughed.

“Do they all have names?” Jessamine asked.

“Well, there’s Coral over there, she’s the pink one, and Nemo, he’s orange--”

“Flounder and Dory…” I snickered, and I thought it was probably a good thing the princesses didn’t understand my references. “In any case, Ariana, your father really outdid himself. These seats are super comfortable.”

“They are luxurious,” Jessamine sighed from the back seat. “And the view from up here is incredible.”

With just a few bumps and jolts, Ariana had managed to navigate us to the edge of the palace grounds near her invisible magic barrier. We were higher than the king’s tower now, and even though I’d gotten used to riding on the magic carpet a while back, and we’d been swimming high up in the water, there was still something about looking down from the chariot that made my stomach flip over.
