  Author’s Note

  Dear reader,

  This is it. The end.

There was a time when I thought I might not ever be able to write those words. A time when I considered allowing this series to continue as long as I could sustain it. But I realized every good story needs an ending, and these characters deserved that.

I’ve had such an amazing time writing this series—something I wasn’t even sure I could do when I first set out. I knew nine books in a row would be daunting, and there were times in the middle when I wasn’t sure I could finish it, but then I would think about you, the loyal reader who has stayed with me this entire time, and I would find a way to make it work. This series is complete because of you, and I can’t thank you enough for supporting me along the way.

Of course, I have to give a big shout out to Dan Van Oss and Tiffany Shand for shaping this book into the final product. They both have been consistently awesome through this entire process.

To my beta readers, Meenaz, Kay, Katie and Lori, thank you for all your help and hard work to make this series better. Your polish makes this series sparkle.

Finally, thank you to my wife for her unwavering support in a process that lasted seventeen months. I know that took a lot of patience, and I am eternally grateful.

  Sincerely,

  Eric Warren

  About the Author

I’ve always been an author, but I haven’t always known I’ve been an author. It took a few tragic events in my life and a lot of time for me to figure it out.

But I’ve never had a problem creating stories. Or creating in general. I wasn’t the creative person in any of my classes in school, I was always the kid who never spoke but always listened. I was the one who would take an assignment and pour my heart into it, as long as it meant I could do something original.

I didn’t start writing professionally until 2014 when I tackled the idea of finishing a novel-length book. Before then I had always written in some capacity, even as far back as elementary school where I wrote pages of stories about creatures under the earth.

It took a few tries and a few novels under my belt before I figured out what I was doing, and I’ve now written nineteen novels. I am thrilled to be doing this and couldn’t imagine spending my life doing anything else.

I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labor. May they bring you as much joy as they bring me.

Having lived in both Virginia and California in the past, I currently reside in Charlotte, NC with my very supportive wife and two small pugs.
