Daisy reached out and pulled him close. They stayed that way for a long time, the three of them. A family, yet part of a larger family, part of a community. All bound by love.
Stretching up, she kissed him, and he responded, putting all that tenderness and love between them into a kiss that was almost sacred.
Katie Eileen protested, and they drew back, looking down at the precious bundle between them. Bright eyes looked up with all the knowledge of ages. It was love that mattered. She knew already what it had taken her parents years to understand. She would have all the love in the world, and that was what counted.
