“No. I wasn’t in the tent when it started,” Aiden replied, ignoring my sound advice.

  “Where were you?”

Aiden answered crudely, “In a port-a-john taking a shit.”

“Don’t leave town.” The sergeant walked off.

  “He doesn’t believe you.”

  “Do I look worried?”

“Hard to tell with that beard.” I peered over Aiden’s shoulder and waved a paw at the sergeant. The look on his face was priceless.

“Are you trying to get us arrested,” Aiden growled.

I quickly changed the subject. “What did you do with my clothes?”

  “The port-a-john caught on fire.”

“You left them in that nasty outhouse?”

“They were on fire, and I was too busy ducking bullets to put them out. I’ll buy you more,” Aiden retorted.

“You bet your ass you will.”

  Chapter Eighteen

“Give me the bunny,” a harsh, raw voice demanded from behind us.

Aiden stiffened and using his alpha voice commanded, “Drop the gun.”

“No.” The desperation in the man’s voice was obvious. “You killed Hester and now I’m taking your mate from you.”

I peeked over Aiden’s shoulder. “It’s a kid.” I flashed him a mental picture of the battered kid wearing nothing but a kilt. The gun he held shook badly.

“Drop. The. Gun.” Aiden had upped the power in the command.

The gun fell out of the kid’s hand. “I loved her and she’s dead because of you.” The grief in his eyes was heartbreaking.

“We didn’t kill Hester. One of your own people did.” I projected the image of the skinny, Hispanic guy in a black caterer’s jacket. “He shot her.”

“What?” Rage filled the kid’s face. “He told me Aiden killed her.”

  “He lied,” Aiden said.

“I’ll kill him!” The kid bolted.

Judd stepped out from behind the motorhome and dropped the kid with one blow.

“What are you going to do with him?” I wiggled to get down.

Aiden tightened his grip and shook his head. “Don’t know.”

Judd picked up the gun. “He can’t be more than sixteen.”

  “Can he join our pack?”

“If he’ll swear allegiance to me, yes.”

“Will he? I mean, he’s not too bright if he believed anything Hester told him. Then again, you fell for her act too.”

“It was a ploy to get Hester to show her hand,” Aiden shot back.

“And those humongous boobs had nothing to do with it?”

“Your breasts are the perfect size for me.” There was a seductive note in Aiden’s voice.

  I smiled. “They are?”

“Yes, and I don’t have to worry about being smothered in my sleep by them either,” Aiden admitted.

I rolled my eyes. “Gee, how romantic.”

The kid suddenly jumped to his feet and bolted.

Aiden grabbed Judd’s arm. “Let him go.”

“We need to do something about Tavish’s pack.”

“As soon as we have dealt with the General, we’ll head up to Farmington, New Mexico. It’s time you had your own pack.”

A smile curved Judd’s mouth. “Yes, it is.”

“That’ll be one hell of a challenge to take over a pack that hates your guts. You’ll have to sleep with one eye open,” I said.

Judd’s expression was that of a scary ass sociopath. “They will obey me or die.”

“Then you’ll be a pack of one. Won’t that be fun?”

“I could use a beer,” Aiden said suddenly.

I rubbed my head against his face. “I told you I came with a lot of baggage. Say the word and I’ll leave.”

“Not a chance.” He kissed my nose. “You’re mine until eternity ends.”

I snuggled against his neck. “Love you too.”

“Let’s get out of here,” Judd said and stomped into the motorhome.

“Was the woman who broke his heart a werewolf?”

“No, she’s a witch.” Aiden placed me on the couch.

“Oh. I’ve only met one of those. Daddy dearest hired her to hex someone. It didn’t turn out quite like he wanted, and he cancelled the payment. Which pissed off the witch. Not even ten minutes later, he had a limp dick. Any attempt to use it resulted in horrific pain and he lost bladder control too. It was great. He had to wear adult diapers. It took him two days to come to his senses. Once she had her money, she revoked the spell. The witch warned him that any attempt to harm her would result in his death. He believed her.”

Aiden laughed. “Smart woman. What’s her name?”

  “Cassandra.”

“Cassandra!” Judd roared. “What does this Cassandra look like?”

“A cute, petite redhead with a temper. The General had her flown in from New Mexico.” I transformed back to my human form and headed for the bedroom.

Judd bared his fangs in a snarl. “Where in New Mexico?”

“Haven’t a clue.” I shut the door. Talk about a cranky butt. I could see why the witch left him. I changed into the turquoise sundress and examined myself in the mirror. It was a perfect fit. Thankfully, Aiden had gotten me a new pair of combat boots otherwise I’d be going barefoot. Hmmm. The boots made my outfit edgy and fun.

The second I opened the bedroom door, Judd’s interrogation started up again. “Who did Cassandra hex?”

  “Comandante Zapa Murrieta,” I replied.

  “Why?”

  “Haven’t a clue.”

Judd raked a hand through his hair. “The General never discussed his problem with Comandante Murrieta?”

“Nope, daddy dearest didn’t trust me, and I was on a need-to-know basis. I only received intel when I was searching for treasure in a hostile area.”

  “But…”

“Enough Judd,” Aiden interjected. “Contact our sources in Mexico and see what you can find out.”

“Yes, Alpha.” Judd drove the motorhome through the compound’s front gate.

  Chapter Nineteen

Hot, sticky and smelling of smoke, I headed to the bathroom. Unique didn’t even begin to describe it. A large cow skull hung over a mirror framed in copper. The faucets and dual sinks were also done in copper with a turquoise inlayed vanity. The toilet reminded me of an old West outhouse complete with distressed wood walls. American Indian symbols were etched into the mosaic floor tiles. Crema Bordeaux marble surrounded the huge shower. The howling wolves on the double glass doors were a bit of an overkill. I was beginning to think the interior designer got Aiden drunk and talked him into this monstrosity. I mean, an outhouse. Seriously? I kept waiting for the spiders to appear. It functioned like a regular toilet, but it brought back bad memories of my time overseas.

Shucking my boots, sundress, and underwear, I stepped inside the shower. Huh? In one corner was a sad looking fern. The poor thing wasn’t getting enough sun. Since I lived here now, I’d fix that.

I turned the faucet, and hot water poured down from a rain showerhead. Man, I could get used to this. The bath shelf held an array of shower gel and shampoo. I picked jasmine vanilla and lathered up. God, it was so wonderful to bathe in a shower free of mold and cockroaches.

Wait a minute. Why did Aiden have a supply of girlie shampoos and gels? Did the bottle of jasmine vanilla belong to Hester? Ugh. I grabbed a bottle of mimosa and poured it over me until I had covered every inch of my body.

The glass doors opened, and Aiden stepped in. “Ever had shower sex?”

My irritation vanished as I eyed his muscular chest and flat abdomen. Yummy. I wanted to lick every inch of Aiden’s twelve pack. His erect penis jutted over heavy testicles. Mister Happy was ready to play. “No, but I’m open to new experiences.” I put the bottle of mimosa back on the shelf.

Aiden settled his lips over mine and with slow exquisite care he kissed me. “You were amazing today. The General lost his explosives, weapons and most of his Humvees.”

“Let’s not talk about daddy dearest.” A plastic container of Ballwash caught my attention. Huh? Didn’t know guys had special soaps for down there. I picked up the bottle and squeezed. A thick stream of green liquid shot out covering Aiden’s abdomen.

  “What are you doing?”

I stroked the liquid across his penis. “Making sure you don’t have any cooties.”

  “Cooties?”

“From the port-a-john. I mean, all sorts of nasty germs and critters live in them.” My hand slid up his cock, then down.

  Up.

  Down.

  Up.

  A groan broke from Aiden.

Down. “Better to be safe than sorry. Right?”

  “God, yes.” His body trembled.

  Up.

Down. Was it my imagination or was his erection getting a lot bigger?

  Up.

“But. Werewolves. Don’t. Get. Cooties,” Aiden panted.

“You sure? Did you know there are ten kinds of bacteria?” I tightened my grip and stroked down his hard, silky flesh.

  Aiden’s shook violently. “No.”

“It’s yippee-ki-yay time cowboy!” I gently manhandled his balls.

Aiden’s body bowed and shook violently as I launched him into an orgasmic tsunami.

To my alarm, his eyes rolled back in his head. Whoa! Was that supposed to happen?

Aiden sucked in a ragged breath. “Who taught you that?”

“The soldiers watched a lot of porn. You’d be amazed at the things a girl can learn.”

“You are full of surprises.” He locked his arms around me. “It’s your turn to get checked for cooties.”

One second, I was in his arms, the next I popped out of his grip like a greased pig. I hit the floor and slid across the shower. A giggle escaped me. “I’m like one of those oiled up wrestlers except it’s mimosa gel.

Aiden laughed. The muscles of his hard torso flexed with a sinuous strength as he lifted me and held me under the streaming rainfall of water.

As the last of the gel ran down my body, I wrapped my legs around Aiden’s hips and guided his cock into my pussy. A moan tore from me at the delicious stretching feeling.

“Like that?” He thrust into me in a steady rhythm designed to make my nervous system short circuit.

“Ohhh yes.” Every touch, every kiss twisted the coil of arousal tighter and tighter.

His decadent tongue never stopped moving as Aiden pounded into me with deep, strong strokes. Multiple orgasms shook my body, and I came apart in his arms.

“Mine,” Aiden roared as he came.

Judd popped into our minds. “The General bonded out of jail.”

“Fuck! You couldn’t have waited ten minutes to tell us that?” Aiden roared.

“A convoy of police vehicles are at the front gate. Sergeant Baker and a Detective Mike Manning are demanding to talk with Tammy. They’re threatening to get another search warrant if we don’t produce her,” Judd added.

A deep growl reverberated in Aiden’s chest. “Bring them to my office.”

  “Yes, Alpha.”

My post coital bliss evaporated. I dropped to my feet and petted Aiden’s penis. “That was fun, we’ll have to do it again.”

“You bet your ass we will.” Aiden stomped out of the shower.

I stood under the showerhead for a long moment, letting the water run down my body. Daddy dearest was desperate to get his hands on me. The only way to complete his mission was for me to find El Dorado. I was sure the Columbians had given him a deadline to pay up or die. The General needed those weapons to replace the ones he lost at the gun show. Not to mention the local news stations had caught the fire, explosions and his epic melt down and arrest on camera. Once the major networks picked up the story, it wouldn’t be long before the FBI sent a team out.

Aiden didn’t understand how devious the General could be. Turning the water off, I grabbed a thick towel and rubbed it over my still quivering body. Aiden had a magic dick.

“Quit dawdling Tammy. The detective is growing impatient,” Aiden grumbled.

“You know, that’s a great idea. I’ll show up naked too and they’ll be too busy staring at my boobs to interrogate me.”

“You have fifteen minutes, and I’m not naked.”

“Too bad, we could have had some fun with it.”

  “Get your butt in gear.”

“Yes, your crankiness.” My stomach fluttered with nerves. Had the detective discovered the General was my father and I was on the FBI’s watch list? Was he here to arrest me? Did Aiden have enough clout to stop them? Or would he go all wolfy on them? I quickly got dressed in a new pair of jeans and a glow in the dark red tee-shirt with a howling wolf on it. Seemed appropriate to show my support for the pack. After a brief glance in the mirror, I headed for Aiden’s office.

  Chapter Twenty

I walked into the office and smiled at Sergeant Baker. “I appreciate you coming all the way out here to take my statement. Would you like some coffee or iced tea?”

“This is not a social visit,” a man in a rumpled suit snapped.

I surveyed him from the top of his wild, white hair to worn work shoes. Huh? The runt could look me in the eye. “And you are?”

  “I’m Detective Mike Manning.”

With a theatrical gasp, I asked, “Have those awful men escaped from jail?”

“No, they haven’t escaped,” Sergeant Baker quickly replied. “General Wilson made some statements that we need to clarify.”

Aiden slid his arm around me. “What kind of statements?”

“That your wife is under a doctor’s care for mental issues or in other words, she’s as nutty as a fruitcake,” Detective Manning sneered.

A runt with an attitude. “And you believed General Wilson?”

“He has documented evidence that you suffer from schizophrenia, and he has a mental health court order that instructs the police to return Tammy Sue Wilson to his care,” Sergeant Baker replied.

Whoa! Daddy dearest was desperate. He had never taken me to a doctor. Ever.

“Tammy is not a schizophrenic. General Wilson is. If you had ran a criminal history on the General, you would have discovered he was kicked out of the military and is on the FBI’s watch list. He’s also building his own private army in Idaho,” Aiden stated.

“Doesn’t matter. The court order is legit and she’s going back to her father.” The detective pulled out his cuffs. “The easy way or the hard way.”

Fuck. This was about to get nasty.

Aiden bared his fangs in a snarl that would send most sensible folks running for their lives. “My wife isn’t going anywhere.”

“Do you have any proof you’re actually married,” Detective Manning countered.

I retorted, “Do you have DNA proof that General Wilson is my father?”

“No, but he showed us your birth certificate,” Detective Manning replied.

Well, hell. “Which state issued the mental health order?”

“Idaho. It came from Clearwater County Superior Court. It’s signed by a Judge Decker,” Sergeant Baker answered.

My eyebrows shot up in surprise. Judge Decker? “And the date on the order?”

The sergeant checked the paperwork. “April 20th, 2021.”

Relief rolled over me. “You’re being conned. Judge Decker died in 2019 from heart failure. It was in all the papers.” It had been the scandal of the decade. He had died while doing his clerk on top of the bench.

“What?” Detective Manning jerked the papers out of the sergeant’s hands. “That can’t be right. How do I know you’re telling the truth?”

Aiden scowled. “I suggest you call Clearwater Superior Court and check. You can use my phone.”

The Detective flushed. “General Wilson is waiting out front. Why don’t we go ask him?” He stormed out.

Whoa! I grabbed Sergeant Baker’s arm before he could follow him out. “General Wilson is a dangerous man with a short fuse. Approach him with caution. He always travels with a team of snipers. If things don’t go the way he expects, he will use them.”

“My wife is telling you the truth,” Aiden interjected.

Sergeant Baker nodded and keyed his radio. “We need the watch commander at our location.”

“Copy Bravo Twenty,” the dispatcher replied.

“His men tried to grab you at Kohl’s,” Sergeant Baker stated.

“Yes, I have access to a great deal of money which General Wilson wants, and he will do anything to get his hands on it. Including falsifying court documents, kidnapping and murder.”

His mouth a grim line, the sergeant nodded. “I’ll let the watch commander know.” He walked out.

“I’ve located a sniper on the eastern butte,” Judd advised.

With a feral glint in his eyes, Aiden commanded, “Take him out.”

  “Copy.”

“Judd there should be two snipers.” I added, “Watch your back, they are both very good at hiding in plain sight.”

“I don’t care how good they are, they can’t hide their scent from me.”

“I need to get a marriage license and make our union legal in the human world too,” Aiden said out-of-the-blue.

I gaped at him. “Are you asking me to marry you?”

“Do you want me to go down on one knee?”

“Not necessary.” But I had to admit, I kinda liked the idea. I guess all those romance books I read left an impression on me.

“What kind of ring do you want?”

I frowned. “I never thought about it. I never planned on getting married.”

“In the shifters’ world, we are married, darlin’. Go on-line and pick out your dream ring. Cost isn’t an issue,” Aiden said generously.

“Wow, how romantic.” I gestured to the door. “Shouldn’t we go out and keep daddy dearest from killing people?”

Aiden shrugged. “Why not let the police deal with him.”

“Because he’s probably got an assault team stationed nearby. One signal from him and a lot of people are going to die. Including some of ours. Daddy dearest won’t stop until he has what he wants. Me.”
