part #29 of The Belles of Wyoming Series
Grace looked up at George, stunned by the love and generosity of his family and how accepting they were of her. This was more than she could have ever wanted or wished for.
“Are you certain?” George asked carefully, looking at the couple’s smiling faces as the family watched George and Grace’s reactions. Alex had his arm around Carrie’s shoulders; she was crying and smiling unabashedly at the announcement.
Grace’s mother sat down hard in a pew, her face pale as she realized the amount of money that had been bestowed upon them. Grace had told her about the marriage contract and the looming figure that sat over her head. She hadn’t found a way to repay it as of yet, but this would more than do so.
“Very,” Katherine said smiling, hugging them both again. “We wish you both a lot of love, laughter, and years of joy together.” She finally stepped back, allowing Grace to walk down the aisle on the arm of her husband.
When they got to the door of the church, George leaned down and kissed her again. She breathed deeply of the warm sandalwood scent on his face, as he’d been shaved by a barber that morning for their wedding. George swept her up in his arms, smiling at her, as they prepared to step out into the town together.
“What now husband?”
“We begin our forever, together, here in Belle, sweet princess.”
Epilogue
Nathaniel looked on the couple exiting the church. He’d thought it was strange of the groom to invite him to attend, especially since he’d once been engaged to marry the bride. There was something about Grace Harding that had set him on edge from the very beginning, making it hard to befriend her, but seeing the two of them together he realized that the spark needed to kindle a friendship or affection was missing. She needed someone outgoing and emotional, something he just didn’t feel inclined towards.
“That is utterly ridiculous,” he heard a woman whisper under her breath. Turning, he saw a young lady standing there in spectacles watching the people file out of the church after the couple.
“Excuse me- are you a friend of the bride or groom?” he asked, curious.
“Neither. An observer. Don’t they realize that forever is not quantifiable? When you use terms like that, it’s not an appreciable quantity. They could have said something measurable, like ‘eighty years’ or ‘until I die’- but claiming something is forever, is irrelevant. Don’t you agree?”
“Infinity or forever can mean simply that there are no boundaries.”
“True, but in geometry it can refer to a plane in three-dimensional space. Do you think that those two would have really referred to a projective line?”
“No,” Nathaniel squawked. His voice sounded like a young boy going through puberty. He cleared his throat and sat down hard in the pew as he looked at the woman standing there before him. “You know geometry?”
“Yes, and I quite enjoy it. Now, if you’ll excuse me,” she said politely, looking at him with a peculiar glance. “Are you quite alright?”
“What’s your name?” he whispered in shock and awe.
“Minerva Spaulding – and you?”
“Nathaniel Morrow.”
“Mr. Morrow, it was a pleasure to meet you and exchange pleasantries. If you find yourself wanting to discuss mathematics again, do give me a shout. I’ve just moved to Belle to study some of the geological finds in the area.”
Stunned, he watched the beautiful woman walk out of the church and saw Pearl Harding walk up behind him. She laid a hand on his shoulder as if she understood what was racing through his mind at that very moment.
“Is everything alright, Nathaniel? You look a bit green about the gills.”
“I think I’m in love,” he whispered painfully, staring at the open doorway where Minerva had disappeared into the street.

Two wrongs don’t make a right – or do they?
Gillian Jameson had lost her world when her husband died. Alone, scared, and desperate for something to fill the emptiness in her soul- she turns to the Pinkerton Agency for help. What she never expected was to be married again, especially to a man like Cade Malone.
Cade had a recklessness to him that was born of sheer desperation. His wife and child were gone. He was running from memories that haunted him with every breath and nightmares that plagued him each night. What he needed was a reason to go on- and it certainly wasn’t in the form of a new partner.
Can two broken souls form a bond between them? Will seeing another person who is struggling to deal with the trauma in their lives be just the thing to help old wounds heal – or would falling for each other simply create another emotional scar that is just too great to bear?
