“Running request.” Genevieve responded.
Frank watched as one of the other monitor screens seemed to come to life. It began flashing scenes faster than he could follow. Frank closed his eyes to the activity.
“If they were following me, they would have seen you assisting me,” Frank stated. “Is that going to be a problem?”
“No. We travel underground, Chief. We move throughout the city without being detected by cameras. If anyone was looking, they saw you pull over and me get out of the vehicle to talk to you. There would have been nothing unusual about that.”
“What about when you went under the vehicle?”
“Our satellite system would have taken over by then. Anyone passing by would have seen a hologram of me standing next to your vehicle, nothing more.”
“Did you say hologram?” Frank leaned back looking at her astonished.
“It’s technology we have been perfecting for a few years now,” Sapphire stated.
“More of we?” Frank questioned. “And the underground stuff?”
“That is under construction, however we are making good progress on different routes,” Sapphire explained.
“You are digging underneath the city?”
“Yes, we are,” Sapphire replied. “That is not new. We are using the same theory as utility companies by going underground. The only difference is we go deeper and develop safe travel routes to move around. Tunnels are designed and built to allow easy travel routes from location to location. You will understand the need for our actions soon enough.” She turned to face him. “Chief, you are vital to the success of the city. You are well protected. LT needs you in place to safeguard this city. As for my brothers and I, this is our home. Our parents raised us to protect the home front at all costs. If P.I.E. is going to come after Richmond, they are going to have to fight us to capture it.”
“Facial recognition from vehicles as requested.” Genevieve’s voice filled the interior. “The video is being sent to your screen.” Genevieve continued. “One vehicle with two passengers pulled off the road approximately 100 feet ahead of this location. The video of the action has been added to your feed.”
“Thank you, Genevieve.”
“You are welcome, Phire.”
Sapphire turned to the monitor on the dashboard. Different faces appeared running across the screen like a movie.
“Stop,” Sapphire ordered when she recognized one of the faces. Touching the screen, she enhanced the picture then turned to Frank. “Are you surprised?”
“No, however, Bynum was ordered to meet me at my office in an hour.” Frank stated. “He may not have been following me. This is the fastest route to the office. He could be simply following orders.”
“Possibly,” Sapphire nodded. “What about him?” She pointed to a photo of two men sitting in the front seat of a dark sedan, looking back over their shoulders through the back window. “Isn’t that one of your Internal Affairs investigators?”
“Yes, that is Investigator Armstead.” Frank frowned as he glanced up at her. “He wasn’t at the murder scene.”
“That lets us know another member of P.I.E. has been identified.” Sapphire acknowledged. “Do you recognize the man with him?”
“He is not one of my officers,” Frank replied.
“Run facial recognition on the driver.” Sapphire ordered.
“Results posted.” Genevieve responded.
The driver’s license of Carl Holland appeared on the screen.
“Carl Holland.” Sapphire glanced at Frank.
Frank shook his head. “Never heard of him.”
Sapphire exhaled. “Genevieve, forward the information to TA.”
“Confirm. Information forwarded.”
“All right Chief, it’s been a long night. We have done all we can do for now. Where to, home or office.”
“Office.” Frank replied. “I want a piece of Bynum’s ass before the sun rises.”
“Once I get you to the office, we are going to provide you with a secure vehicle and a driver until we are confident you are safe.” Sapphire started the vehicle. “It may feel like it’s time to take the gloves off, Chief. However, we cannot show our hand just yet. There is too much we still don’t know.”
Frank nodded in understanding, but he prayed Bynum would give him a reason to knock the shit out of him.
Chapter Six
Alexandria, Virginia
In an undisclosed location, Senator Jason Rolfeman, Chairman of the Intelligence Committee, Congressman Edward Ackerson, Chairman of The House Judiciary Committee, and Justice Patrick Cunningham, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, sat in a private study. The surrounding floor to ceiling bookshelves filled with law books gave the room a darkness, even with the desk light lit. The men sat in upholstered chairs with cherry wood trim with glasses of scotch in their hands waiting to discuss why they were summoned.
“What is the reason for this emergency meeting?” Senator Rolfeman inquired.
“There has been a development in our operation in Richmond, Virginia.” Congressman Ackerson replied.
“At our last gathering it was reported Richmond’s judicial system was now under our control,” Justice Cunningham stated. “Has the status changed?”
“No, we have control of the Commonwealth Attorney Office in Richmond. The manner in which that achievement occurred has raised a few concerns.” Ackerson stated.
“Explain,” Rolfeman sat forward.
“The report indicates the actions of a patriot at level fourteen created an unanticipated backlash from the Richmond Police Department.”
“How? We were making significant progress in that area. The mission was well underway, with placement of our personnel in the judicial system, the police department and the education system. Not to mention the financial resources from that area have increased substantially in the last few years.” Justice Cunningham questioned.
“The patriot at level fourteen was overly ambitious. While he did create substantial financial gain, he also created openings for detection. The prison system in that area and several nearby were using the females as a cash flow.” Ackerson explained.
“We have used that method across the country. What went wrong in Virginia?” Cunningham asked.
“There was a raid at one of the gentlemen’s clubs,” Ackerson continued. “Some of the women were seized. That investigation was followed by the location and raid on one of the houses used to transport the women. In that raid, more women were taken. The local authorities there interrogated and processed the women before the case could be shut down. That led to the connection with the prison systems.”
“How?” Cunningham asked.
“The women from certain facilities were implanted with identification chips in their feet. The chips were detected. Information from the chips led authorities to the prison facilities and the connection with our patriot at level fourteen. At the same time, the investigation into the death of the Commonwealth Attorney raised a few suspicions.”
“Why?” Rolfeman asked.
“At the request of our replacement, details for the sanctioned death of the Commonwealth Attorney were altered. The changes garnered unwanted attention.”
“In what way?” Rolfeman inquired.
“They eliminated and placed one of the women in the bed of the man in an effort to tarnish the glowing reputation of the deceased CA. The replacement believed it would make his transition into the position more acceptable. In addition, the man was hung in an attempt to display a murder suicide scenario.”
“Was the scenario established?” Cunningham asked.
“Eventually, however, not before raising a few eyebrows.” Ackerson stated.
“Should we be concerned?” Rolfeman asked.
Ackerson nodded. “I believe we need to place more resources in the area. It is unclear how, but it seems the local authorities in that area are getting assistance from outside sources. Such as the federal government.”
“What brought you to that conclusion?” Rolfeman asked.
“The local authorities have access to information and resources unlike any we have come across in our other targeted areas,” Ackerson stated. “Keep in mind, our current President and Attorney General are from the Richmond area. I believe we may have inadvertently stumbled onto our do not touch list.”
“We do not inadvertently do anything. Be specific Ackerson.” Rolfeman ordered.
“Very well. The level fourteen patriot ordered an attack on a colored who was connected to one of our operatives.”
“Operative? You mean CIA Operative?” Cunningham sat up.
“Yes,” Ackerson nodded. “The operative’s son was beaten with a whip.”
“For God’s sake,” Rolfeman slammed his glass on the table then stood. “A hanging and a whipping in the same area. What in the hell were they thinking. Of course, that action would raise a few eyebrows. Has the DOJ been brought into the case?”
“No, the Department of Justice has not been contacted or asked to investigate.” Ackerson stated, “However, more incidents of this nature will create a scenario where they can and probably will be contacted. There is another situation you need to be aware of in the Richmond operation. The Chief of Police is our next target in the area.”
“And?” Rolfeman insisted.
“Well, it appears the man is involved with the mother of the President.”
The look on Rolfeman’s face was incredulous.
“There is more,” Ackerson continued. “Closer research indicates, the woman who is the fiancée of the Mayor of Richmond is also closely connected to the President.”
“We knew none of this before?” Rolfeman growled.
“Yes, we were aware of the connection to the Mayor. We did not uncover the relationship between the Police Chief and the President’s mother until Secret Service agents were detected. We reached out to our contacts there and were advised of the duty those agents were handling.”
“The President, the AG and an operative are connected in some way to the activity in Richmond?” Cunningham summarized. “This is a hornet’s nest. Is it possible to curtail the activities in the area?”
“Securing the Capital of the Confederacy can increase our membership. It has the potential to be the most significant achievement of our mission.”
“Moving forward could have the potential of exposing our mission and land each of us under a jail,” Cunningham countered shaking his head. “I don’t know about this. What are your thoughts, Rolfeman?”
Rolfeman sat back down. “What is the status of each situation?”
“The death of the previous Commonwealth Attorney has been deemed a murder-suicide, essentially closing the case. The prostitution investigation with the women has been successfully placed on the shoulders of the prison officials. Eliminating any connection to our organization.” Ackerson explained.
“Were the women recovered and eliminated?” Cunningham inquired.
“Most, not all,” Ackerson stated. “Leaving the possibility of witnesses just as we had with the judges.”
“The situation with the women can be handled,” Rolfeman interjected. “What is the status of the patriots who defied the orders?”
“The leader and several of those who followed his orders have been eliminated. However, the replacement, who made the request to alter the plan, is our stronghold on the Commonwealth Attorney Office. Eliminating him at this time will set our progress back.”
“His actions cannot go without consequences. Our plans are not to be altered in any manner at any level.” The voice of Rolfeman echoed throughout the room. “Teach him a lesson. Remind him of his oath to uphold the master plan. If he is detected, for the protection of the organization he is expected to take his own life. If he does not, we will end his existence and that of any family members. For they all will be held accountable for his noncompliance.”
“The message will be conveyed.” Ackerson nodded.
“How crucial is the elimination of the Chief of Police in the area?” Rolfeman questioned.
“The man is what makes this position crucial,” Ackerson stated. “His integrity is unbreakable, unlike the last chief of police. He is blue through and through. He will follow the letter of the law. The chief position’s control on case investigations is significant for two reasons. First to ensure situations such as this investigation into the Commonwealth Attorney’s death does not occur or open doors to our detection. And second to secure the incarceration of coloreds as we proceed forward with our plans. This Chief has the support of the Mayor, in addition to access to the current administration. On our side we have a significant number of officers who are patriots, with seventy-five percent of the new recruitments waiting in the wings. Securing the Chief position will solidify our hold on the law in the area there.”
“Is the replacement in position to take over?”
“The replacement is ready to proceed.” Ackerson nodded.
“It is imperative that we keep pressure on Attorney General Johnson to ensure he thinks twice before opening any investigation into our activity. Do we have access to the media in the Richmond area?”
“We do.” Cunningham nodded. “We have a local station in addition to reporters who will not hesitate to state our position on issues.”
“Contact the number four of Virginia. Have him activate the media. Put a full court press on any topic that could lead to the DOJ investigating our people.”
“The current House weaponization of the Department of Justice investigations should slow them down a bit. Adding public pressure on AG Johnson with our antics, will cause him to think twice before making any inquiries into certain activities.” Ackerson nodded.
“That should distract DOJ, however, it does not handle the problem with the President’s mother.” Cunningham stated. “How do we proceed with the police chief?”
“Eliminate him,” Rolfeman suggested. “He is a police officer. They die in the line of duty every day.”
“That may lead to an investigation.” Ackerson replied.
“He is old. Old people die every day. We have the means to handle it in a way that is undetectable. How it is done is beneath me. I sanctioned his death. Have it carried out.” Rolfeman stood. “Gentlemen, we began this organization to make America the great country it once was. We knew the mission would require strategic planning and true patriots to reframe the minds of the people. We have been planning and executing with precision for over five years. Our vision is coming to fruition. We now have control of several governorships and state houses in targeted areas. We have the will of the people behind us. We will not allow a few overzealous patriots to derail our plans.”
“Look at the substantial accomplishment the last election provided. We have solid control of twenty-six states with republican governors and total control of multiple state houses. That is more than 50% of the country with us.” Congressman Ackerson acknowledged.
“However, we are still outnumbered in the target states.” Cunningham stated. “The twenty targeted states of Minnesota, Ohio, South Carolina, Missouri, Massachusetts, Delaware, New Jersey, Mississippi, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, Colorado, Connecticut, New York, North Carolina, California, and Wisconsin, all still have the highest rating for an active and enthusiastic African American electorate. We have 8 governorships compared to their 12. Virginia is the only one we picked up since the election.”
“That is the significance of Virginia, gentlemen. Democrats have won that state back-to-back in the last two elections. We are making inroads. Issues there must be addressed now while we have a sympathetic governor in place. Once captured we can control important military assets. In addition to a strategic location to DC.” Rolfeman stated. “Our goal is to obtain and retain power within the laws of this country, then change them to our will on education, abortion rights and the superiority of our race. Once those changes are made, they will be challenged. We will then expect the Supreme Court to uphold those changes.”
“I’ve said this before, states are using questionable tactics in their legislatures.” Justice Cunningham stated. “The changes in the laws are ridiculously obvious making it difficult to uphold.”
Senator Rolfeman nodded. “I concur with your analysis. Their actions are short sighted. While the media and country are focusing on the ridiculousness of the proposed changes, we will be moving our agenda forward undetected. We will keep them watching the bouncing ball as the guerillas carry out our mission to implement the master plan.”
Chapter Seven
As Nate walked into RPD headquarters on Grace Street, he received a message indicating Chief Williams was secure. No details of the incident were relayed to him, only that the Chief was safe. That would have to be enough for now. If P.I.E. was at a point where they were coming after the Chief, Nate could only surmise that they were going in the right direction on their investigation. They were hitting a nerve. Or could it be the Chief was next on their list? Nate wasn’t sure, but either way he needed to make a call.
Since he was going to the Chief’s office and not his unit, Nate took the back elevator. It was smaller, and it allowed him to avoid any activity happening in the lobby.
Stepping onto the elevator Nate pushed a button on his phone then waited for the call to go through.
“I think someone made an attempt on your father’s life tonight.” He said when the call was picked up. “He should not be left unattended. One of you is going to have to stick to him like glue.”
“Where are you?” a groggy Jarrell Williams asked.
