“Commander? Can I help you with anything else?”
Boyce wet his lips, then sliced his hand through his hair, disheveling its meticulous styling. His eyes darted to where Dawes studied the grid before resting carefully back on Wendy. A quicksilver shadow flashed through his sapphire stare.
“It’s nothing,” he recanted, and stalked stormily from her quarters.
Wendy watched as he left, her hand burning as the door whirred shut behind him. His footsteps faded behind the heavy panels, and she released a heavy sigh. His kiss had brought a whole new dynamic to their relationship—including her response to his presence.
She dropped into her chair, kneading her burgeoning headache.
“Everything okay?” Dawes’ head tipped in a curious quirk.
“Yes, Dawes,” Wendy swept her hand over her hair to busy her nervous fingers. “But my knee actually is feeling a little stiff. I think I will try some physio. Are you alright here?”
“Of course, Captain.”
“Excellent,” Wendy averted her eyes as she tucked the Recording Log under her arms, hoping a detour to the maintenance bay would free her from Dawes’ perceptive gaze. Maybe Michaels could fix it sooner rather than later. Under her feet, the Roger let out a low grumble before falling back into its silent course. Wendy glanced nervously at the StarBoard, but its blinking green lights betrayed no concern.
“I’ll be back shortly.” Wendy nodded, unsure if the nervous twisting in her stomach was caused by the barge or Boyce. “Keep her in the sky.”

Acknowledgments
First, I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity and ability to share my stories with the world. Without your gracious gifts, I would truly be lost.

Next, I want to thank my family. For my husband, Steven, thank you for the countless hours encouraging, listening to, and putting up with this crazy story. You’ve changed my life in so many ways, I can’t wait to see what happens next.

For my friends, specifically those who encouraged and supported me on my writing adventure. Brittany, thank you for being my expert in all things Peter. This story wouldn’t have gotten off the ground without you. Jessica, I am so blessed to have met you. Thanks for always being there to talk me down from all the writer feels. And the GIFs. Especially thank you for the GIFs. Katie, thank you for always being there to listen and offer advice in anything and everything. You are going to do amazing things, girl. I’m so grateful to be along for the ride. And for my betas, Mooky, Dave, Jess, Diana, Elissa, thank you for loving Peter even when he wasn’t at his best and for sticking with him until the end.

Then of course, Mr. Barrie. Thank you for your amazing story and for sharing Neverland with us all those years ago. Without your inspiration, Second Star would have never come to be. Thank you for the magic.
* * *
And last but definitely not least, I want to thank YOU, my reader. Without you, there would be no reason to take Peter’s story and put it to paper. Neverland may be a piece of my heart, but it was written for you.
