  I also gratefully acknowledge a BBC documentary that was immensely helpful in understanding why some women gamble to the point of addiction and why it is so difficult for them to stop.

  Without the help and support of Wayne and Jesse, there would be no books completed, published and available to read. I am the most fortunate of writers to have such a loving family around me, supporting me as I write and helping to see that these stories reach you.

  Seabright is not a copy of the town where I live, but a reflection of the many small, warm and welcoming towns and villages strung along the Atlantic coast of Northeastern United States and Canada’s Maritimes.

  They are incredibly special places to live and work, write and play. I urge you to visit this peaceful and beautiful part of the world, if you ever get the chance.
