When writing my books, I run off coffee, anxiety + overthinking. Like to contribute to my coffee habit? You can purchase me a coffee hereeee!
synopsis:
When it comes to my family I will protect them with my life. I’m a protector, and my family is my responsibility. When it comes to my team, I’m the same way. They are family, and the reason that me and Capone are able to do us in the streets, knowing they are tucked away safe. As a man, you sometimes fall short, and something— someone falls through the cracks.
I know one thing, I put that on my grandson that I’m going to crack his uncle’s skull. He has hurt his own family, tossed them out to the wolves, and has hurt mine. I don’t take too kindly to people hurting mine.
For that, he has to pay in blood.
hey there
At this point, we already know why the books are split up – lol.
Cappadonna’s finale is here *cries*
I enjoyed writing both brothers because they were so much alike, but different at the same time.
As much as we’re sad, the Delgato family isn’t over. Capri and Capella have up next, and a standalone about Jaiden in the league too!
Let’s not forget the Inferno Gods too. I’ve introduced more in book 3 and 3.5.
Now, as for our bang bang shoot em up scenes, I’ve included a playlist for that. You can listen to it while reading those scenes – I listen to them while writing them and I feel like I can get in a highway shootout in the suburbs – lol
Listen here!
Capone and Cappadonna paperbacks will be on my site on September 1st.
www.Jahquel.com
I’m coming out of retirement when it comes to boxes, so Delgatos will have a box. Those will go up for preorder on September 20th!
I’ll make sure to post it on my social medias.
As always, I write for your entertainment, however, take care of you. This book has sensitive subjects.
This finale is dedicated to the tribe. Thank you for all the OG’s and new members of the tribe! I don’t think I would have been able to pull the impossible without you guys fueling my coffee addiction. It’s a toxic relationship you know… I supply the crac… books that you guys’ love, and ya’ll supply the crac… the coffee that I need to keep these fingers moving – I appreciate and love ya’ll down!
Cheers to year ten on this writing journey!

. . .
Capri screamed into my chest while holding onto me for dear life. Alaia ran from the doorway still holding our daughter. She looked up at me, then over at Quameer. Neither of us knew what to say, or what to do. I mean, I knew what I wanted to do, but I couldn’t do it right now. Even Quasim got quiet on the phone.
“We got a pulse! Come on… get ‘em in there… we got a pulse!” We heard yelling through the phone, in the background.
“He’s al…alive?” I heard Quasim yelling.
“As of now… yes. The pulse is faint, but we got him…. Excuse me, sir… we need to rush him now!” the doctor said in a rush.
“What the fuck happened?” I turned to see my son rushing out the house with Aimee behind him.
They moved into the new house because his ass wasn’t going to get his own shit yet. I went all these years not having him under my roof, so I would be damned if he got his own spot. Eventually, he would want his own spot, but for the mean time him and Aimee’s ass was staying under this roof with my grandson.
“I’ll take her and put her down in the playroom with Rory.” Aimee came and took Promise from Alaia.
Alaia handed the baby over, and I looked over at my son. “Kincaid got hit tonight at the party.”
“Fuck… he good?”
“No, that nigga dramatic ass just fucking died, and then he came back. He got too much anger up in his blood to go out like that.” Quameer sat on the front of his car, and took a deep breath.
Capri was still sobbing into my chest and trying to calm herself down. I wrapped my arms around her and rubbed her back. “Baby Doll, you heard them… that nigga too crazy not to pull through.”
“He fucking died… he said he was dead.”
“I was wrong, Capri… he did die, I wasn’t wrong about that shit. They brought the crash cart out and found a pulse… I don’t know what the fuck to do… this shit feels… fuck.”
“Qua, I’m on my way,” Quameer said instantly.
“I’m behind you.”
Quasim lost his baby mother the same exact way, so I knew this shit was triggering the fuck out of him. I don’t care how much time had passed, shit like that would stick with you forever.
He watched one of his right hands pass away in front of him, then be brought back to life, a second chance that neither his baby mother or daughter got. “I’m coming with you,” Capri removed herself from me, and ran over to the passenger side of Quameer’s whip.
Quameer looked at me before getting into the car. “I got her, Capp.”
“I’m right behind you,” I said and headed into the house.
Alaia was right behind me as I went upstairs to throw some clothes on. “Baby, where my black sweats?”
She was right behind me leaning in the doorway. “Top drawer, and your Timbs are behind the door.”
I went into the closet and grabbed my clothes, coming out the closet with my boots in my hands. “Be safe, Cappadonna… please.”
I dropped a kiss on her lips and then looked into her eyes. “Always…. try and get some sleep.”
“I never sleep well when you’re not home… me and Aimee will probably sleep down in the living room with the babies.”
“I’ll call you and let you know what’s going on… if you don’t hear from me, I’m good, Alaia… okay?”
She stood on her toes and pushed her lips to mine. “I love you. We love you. Remember you have a family waiting for you at home… okay.”
“I put that on Promise.”
She smiled, hugging me before she pulled something from behind her back. This is why I married this woman and would do anything for her. She held a ski mask in her hand, as I dropped one more kiss on her lips, and went jogging down the steps. Soon as I hit the bottom step, Capella came walking from where the guest suite was. “You ready, Pops?”
“Yeah.”
We hopped in the whip, and I whipped out the gates, stopping to make sure the gates closed behind me. I remember when Capone told me how niggas ran into his crib while Erin was pregnant, and if some shit happened like that, I would lose my shit.
As if he could sense he was on my mind, his call came through the speakers of my car. “Yo.”
“I’m enroute to the hospital now… Erin and Big Mike are heading to your crib to be with Alaia and Aimee.”
“Bet.”
Since it was late, the traffic was light when entering the city. I whipped through the streets while biting the inside of my cheek. Kincaid was the most solid nigga on our team, and for them to come at him the way they did, they had to pay for that shit. Ace was a fucking thorn in my side with the way he had been moving. Every time I thought I was close to grabbing his ass, shit switched, and he was out my hands.
If that wasn’t enough, that fucking Tweety refused to fucking die. With the way his whip spun out of control and how I hit him in the chest with bullets, how the fuck was he alive. I know they said Allah saved babies, but just cause that nigga was the size of a toddler didn’t mean he needed to be saved. I was trying to send his ass to hell, and he was refusing to go.
When Ralph all but screamed it out, he confirmed what I already knew. If Tweety thought I didn’t have eyes and ears everywhere, he was more stupid than he looked. We pulled up in front of the brick duplex and looked at each other.
“Leave that father shit out of this, Capp,” Capella said. “Treat me like I’m another member on the team… shit get sticky, we gonna handle it.” He pulled his mask down over his face.
I chuckled. “Oh, we on Capp now.”
“Yeah, ‘cause yo’ ass be thinking like my pops and I need you to be Capp… Big Capp to be exact.” He held his hand out, and I dapped him up.
On the outside, I knew this shit look like somebody let fireworks off in here. Nobody was fucking safe. I continued throughout the house shooting anybody moving. Ace brought that shit out of me. When I came home, I was cool and not on that ruthless shit. I was trying to move like my brother.
Nobody was fucking safe in this bitch. I couldn’t tell who was who, because I was seeing red. I was still in my feelings about Kendra and how that nigga did her. Kendra was selfish and there was a whole list of reasons she got what she deserved. It was different when you saw the shit. I never wanted to be with her ass, but I damn sure didn’t plan on doing her the way Ace had done her. I needed him to know I had been here and now I was gonna fuck with his money. The little calls and text messages were cute while they lasted.
His ass needed to be handled, and I wasn’t going to rest until I did so. I had taken that time to get my wife and our home life in order, and now I needed to tap back into Capp, and handle his ass.
Me and Capella were out as quick as we came, heading up to the hospital. He was quiet as we drove, and I looked over at him. “You straight?”
“Yeah… thinking about my moms.”
Capella had more memories and a longer relationship with his moms. No matter how inconsistent she had been, he had known her the longest. It was the reason he was hurt by the shit she did, and the way she moved. I couldn’t speak on how he felt because I had my own feelings when it came to Kendra.
As much as I wanted to ring her neck and end her ass myself, it was a different feeling seeing her already gone, and by the hands of that bitch.
“Shit is fucked up.”
He looked over at me. “She did some shady shit, but I didn’t think he would do that to her. We can’t let this nigga run around for too much longer.”
I remained quiet all the way to the hospital. When we walked through the hospital, we spotted Capri sitting next to Quameer with her head in her hands rocking back and forth. He was leaned back staring into thin air.
“Where’s your brother?” I asked, taking a seat across from him.
“He needed to get out of here… told him I’ll hit him later and let him know what’s going on.”
“Fair.”
Me: Take care of yourself, nigga.
Qua: bet.
If Quasim needed space and time to sort his shit out, then he needed to take that time. This was my beef, and as much as I know he wanted to get back at Ace for doing Kincaid that way, as a man, I knew that he needed to take some time and clear his mind. This shit was heavy for all of us. I sat back and looked at my sister and couldn’t help but feel the anger rise from my feet to the top of my head.
First my son, and then my sister. Had Kincaid not protected her, she could have been the one I was out here waiting for. When she looked up, her eyes were blood shot red as she continued to rock back and forth.
“Baby Do—”
She held her hand up. “I just need a minute, Cappy.”
As she brushed past Capone coming in, I nodded for him not to follow her and give her space. Capri had been through as much shit as all of us, if not more. It wasn’t too long ago that she damn near lost Naheim, and now she found herself waiting to hear the fate of another lover. As much as the big brother in me wanted to go after her and cradle her in my arms like when she was younger, I knew that I couldn’t do that.
She wasn’t that little girl anymore, she was a grown woman, and if she was telling me that she needed a moment, who the fuck was I to push her boundary by trying to be there for her. Capri knew if she needed me that I would come, so I was giving her space.
“Anybody came out and said anything yet?” Capone sat down beside me.
“My wife good?”
“Yeah. They all gonna have a sleepover in the living room. Big Mike gonna stay the night at your crib.”
“I’m sick of this shit, Capo… I should have pulled that fucking trigger.”
He looked at me. “Then his ass would have fucking won. What would you sitting in prison have done?”
“Rid that bitch of the world.”
Capone knew how I got so he ignored me. “Meer, what the fuck went down?” Capone asked Quameer, who snapped out of his own thoughts and leaned forward.
“Shit happened so fast. All I know is that Kincaid grabbed Capri and shielded her or else it would have been her that was hit.”
I stood up and started pacing the waiting room. The tips of my fingers tingled thinking about getting that nigga. I felt weak for allowing him to tip around for as long as he had. Time wasn’t on my time. Each time I should have gotten him, time didn’t align, and I was a big fan of shit aligning perfectly before you did it. Like when I had that gun in his mouth.
After pacing for a minute, I posted up on some chairs while we waited to hear Kincaid’s fate. I swear that tough ass nigga better not had quit on me. He had been through so much, and was a solid member of the team, fucking family. I don’t know how I would react if they came out here and told me that he died.
alaia
. . .
No sooner than morning came around and I hadn’t heard from Cappadonna, I had made him breakfast and had Big Mike bring me up to the hospital to him. After asking around, I found out where Cappadonna was. He was sleep across three different chairs, his legs resting on each chair.
Capone was across the room with his head leaned on a vending machine, and Quameer was sitting up watching the news with a cup of coffee in his hand. Capri had her head laid across his lap sleeping.
“What up, Alaia?” he greeted.
“Hey,” I whispered, taking a seat on the opposite side of him. “Did the doctors come out and speak to you guys yet?”
“Yeah. He’s in critical condition, and the shit isn’t looking up right now. They said the good news is that he made it through surgery so that is a good sign. The bullet in his back they can't remove but said that it is fine to leave in. When he’s stronger, if it bothers him, they can remove it then.”
“Shit… has she gone back to see him yet?”
“No. They came out when she was already knocked out. Capp said to wait until she got up to let her know.”
“Alaia, come ‘ere,” I heard my husband’s groggy voice.
I handed Quameer a breakfast sandwich that I had made early this morning for them. “Bacon, egg, and cheese.” I smiled.
“Good looks, Alaia… shit I was starving, and that damn cafeteria only got damn coffee.” He unwrapped the sandwich and started eating it, dropping crumbs on Capri’s head.
She was so deep in her sleep that she didn’t feel the crumbs from the kaiser roll dropping on the side of her face. I walked over toward where Cappadonna was still sitting up in the chair. “Good morning, baby,” I kissed him on the lips, removing his hat. “You already saw me come in, right?”
“You know I did.”
I sat down in the empty chair beside him and dug in the cooler bag I had. “I brought you fresh juice, and a sandwich to eat.”
Capp looked over at me, his eyes low because of tiredness, and smirked. “You take this housewife role serious, huh? Coming in here like Mary Poppins with food and shit.”
“Shut up,” I snorted.
He finally sat up. “Seriously, I appreciate you, Mama.”
I blushed. “I know you do. Which is why I do all of this for you… eat something so I can feel better.”
“I know you brought me something,” Capone called from across the room.
“Nah, she didn’t bring you shit,” Capp replied.
“Fuck up.” He stood up, stretching, and made his way over toward me, and I handed him a sandwich and a juice.
“Good looks, sis’.” He sat down in the seats across from us and dug into his sandwich, resting his eyes.
I could tell neither of them went to sleep. “Promise slept through the night last night.”
Promise woke up at the same exact time every night. Some nights I got her, or Cappadonna would when he noticed I was too tired. Last night, when we slept in the living room, she slept through the night.
