“Years ago I made a huge mistake by dismissing you right here in this spot. Someone took pity on me and gave me a second chance, and I’m so grateful. I know I’m not the easiest person, nor the most polished, but I love you, Lindsey. Be my wife, and I’ll do everything I can to keep you happy, safe, and free to be whatever you want to be.”

A little sob escapes my throat when he slides the ring on my finger. “I love you, Levi. Yes. Yes, I’ll be your wife!”

He beams, his beautiful dimples gracing his cheeks, before he swoops me into his arms and kisses me.

I’ve taken a most circuitous route, but my heart has finally found a real home.

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I would like to thank my husband, children, parents, brother, and friends for their love, encouragement, and support.

I am grateful to my agent, Jill Marsal, and to Helen Cattaneo and the entire Montlake family, for believing in me and for working so hard on this story.

I owe so much to Kathryn Johnson, for her enthusiasm and mentoring, and to my earliest readers, Christie Tinio, Siri Kloud, Katherine Ong, Tami Carstenson, Shelley Eccleston, and Suzanne Harrison, for their input on various drafts of this manuscript.

I am also indebted to the wonderful members of my CTRWA chapter for their support, feedback, and guidance throughout the years.

Finally, I want to thank my readers for making my work worthwhile. With so many available options, I’m honored by your choice to spend your time with me.
