That was when it dawned on me…that growl had been an Alpha growl. This was control, extreme control, and there could be no escape from it.

  CHAPTER SIX

  Ethan

“I DON’T UNDERSTAND why I can’t smell you,” she said.

She sounded like she was talking to herself. I was busy rifling through the storage compartments, but absently replied, “Suppressants. I wouldn’t be very good at infiltration if they could smell me now, would I.”

She made a little derogatory huffing sound. It was cute and put a smile on my face.

“What are you looking for?” she demanded.

My smile dropped. “Weapons,” I replied, not liking the doctor’s tone one bit, but sufficiently mellowed, post-feast, not to set about spanking some respect into her. I yanked open another storage and did my best to ignore the little bundle of well-fucked woman on the narrow cot. I glanced over—bad idea. I sucked in a deep breath—an even worse idea.

My scent might be suppressed, but hers was ripe and sweet. It clogged up my lungs, and my dick instantly hardened. I turned away.

“Did you forget where you put them?”

Was that sass? I’d just expelled a flood of cum between her legs, but my dick throbbed in anticipation of connecting my palm with her bare ass, which she badly needed. Followed by a good, hard fucking, which she clearly needed as well. “Nope, not my room.”

“Not your room? What do you mean not your room?”

Her tone was imperious with a hint of hysteria. Not an Omega versed with being an Omega. And not trained as such. When her father approached me three years ago, I was wary. I was right to be wary. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her jump off the bed, trying to drag what was left of her ballgown together.

  There wasn’t much left.

I smirked—good luck with that. “As in, it belongs to someone else,” I replied. Yanking open the next storage, I ripped out clothing. Tossing it to the floor, I searched the back, but found nothing useful.

“Whose room is it?” Her voice became a little breathy, and my dick liked that just as well as it liked the sass.

“No idea.” I jerked the next cupboard open. “Ah.” I punched the pressure plate, and the lock sprang open.

“You just…did…all that to me in someone else’s room?” There was a high, anxious quality to her voice now. And yes, I liked the fearfulness as well.

I paused my examination of the weapons to give her a raised eyebrow. “Fucking you isn’t a problem. Fucking you in someone else’s room is?” Her father had approached me because I had a reputation for exceptional Omega control. They gave me the difficult ones, the Singulars, and I had turned all of them into obedient little pets.

I reached for the next item, a rifle with semi attachment and an infinity power-pack—Nope, I’m not going to get away with wandering around the ship with that. I put it back away.

  “Of course it is!”

The doctor had a temper. I was about to hand her over to Ryker and how he was going to cope with her undisciplined tirade would be interesting. Lilly was unique, and the changes I’d had to undergo to become compatible could not be undone. I expected her father was wise enough to understand that this might take me longer than usual. He had been foolish allowing her so much freedom for so long. It was going to take weeks, maybe months of hard fucking to break her.

When I looked up, I found her desperately trying to make her ripped dress meet around her plump tits. It must have been a gown fit for the princess that she was, before circumstance got it all dirty…and I tore it up.

A little helpless, broken princess who needed saving.

I’d saved her, though I was the furthest thing from a fucking prince. I’d taken perverse pleasure in ripping that once beautiful masterpiece of blood-red silk down the front. There was real blood on it now, hers, from when I’d bitten her, and I liked that as well.

I was still buzzing from the hit—it packed quite a punch.

Her attempts to reconnect the halves proved fruitless, and she dropped the material with a sob of defeat.

If she started crying, I wouldn’t be able to help myself from fucking her again—timelines be damned. Little broken Omegas could turn me into a raging beast. I wanted to subdue all that angst, and there wasn’t much wrong with an Omega that a good fucking couldn’t fix. I was of the opinion that fucking fixed everything. Their lush, needy little bodies soon calmed right down once you filled them up.

Omegas were meant to take cock, needed to take cock. And I had no problem giving them what they needed. If they didn’t get enough attention, they generally acted out. Given how much attitude I was getting, I’d say Lilly was desperate and suffering from all those years of denying her true nature.

It was going to take some serious control to stabilize things.

Head lowering, she muttered, “I can’t leave the room like this.”

“Hmm,” I said noncommittally and reached for the smaller handgun.

“What the hell does that mean?”

She really needed to be fucked. I checked my wrist plate. But didn’t want to miss the hand-over. “I need to get you to Ryker.”

  “Ryker?”

I slotted the handgun in place at my waist. “Yes, Ryker.” I couldn’t help but grin. “The only other man who can see to your unique needs.”

Her little hands shot to her throat like that would protect her. It pushed her tits up, and I was distracted for a whole second. I looked about the floor where I had tossed the clothes. I needed to get her covered…

“You’re handing me over to another man who can…that’s…barbaric. This whole thing is just barbaric!”

Her outrage was genuine, and her eyes darted about like she was searching for something other than the piles of clothes—maybe something to hit me with. And I wasn’t too upset about her little slip that said she was forming an attachment to me since it would help with the control. I had no doubt she would also become attached to Ryker, probably prefer him over me in short order since he wasn’t quite my level of depraved…and he was as pretty as she was. Women swooned when the fucker entered a room. Eventually, she would figure Ryker and his issues out.

But that might take a while.

“He will also need to fuck you,” I added because every tense line of her body was telling me she needed to be fucked. “Your pupils are blown again, and the moment I took your blood, your cunt was running like a tap. You definitely need fucking. I wish I had the time.”

Her cheeks pinkened, and her eyes flashed murder. “You really are the foulest, most uncouth man I have ever met!”

My grin was all teeth. “And I got you off in less than five minutes, princess.” I pointed out, yanking a pair of fatigues off the floor. “I wasn’t even trying. Two minutes tops, if I put some effort in.” They would fit someone twice her size but would cover the distraction up. I’d have a fight on my hands if I tried to get her out the room dressed like that.

  “And delusional!”

I had dropped the fatigues, fisted her throat, and was growling before I could stop myself. Her beautiful amber eyes lost the last bit of color as the pupils swallowed them up.

I squeezed in gentle warning and heard the splat as a gob of her cream hit the floor.

  “Please don’t growl.”

A begging voice. I did so love a begging voice.

I bowed her over the bed, back arched, and her legs fell open. I liked it when they struggled, but this was nice too.

With one hand holding her throat, I worked three fingers into that tight hole, and she did struggle then. It didn’t help. She was an Omega, and her body was meant to take whatever I chose to give it. “Feels like someone uncorked a dam.” There was a flood between her legs and my big fingers squelched as they slipped in and out of that tight passage. “Hot, tight, and wet.” I twisted her face to the side and growled next to her ear as I swiped a thumb over her clit.

She came, and her sharp, ragged pants shifted to a scream. I thought I might pass out myself there was so much blood in my dick.

“Less than a minute.” I didn’t bother trying to hide my smug.

I licked my fingers clean, and her glazed eyes watched me with a combination of horror and lust. I was about a basal as you could get, as she would find out…later. I was confident Ryker wouldn’t have a chance in hell of keeping this little Omega under control.

I picked up the fatigues and tossed them toward her. “Put these on or I will.”

She snatched them off the floor where they fell. Ripping the last shreds of her dress off, she tugged them on with shaking fingers, and muttered, “Delusional!”

I should have swatted her ass for that, but I could see things would escalate swiftly if I did.

By the time she had dressed, she’d managed to contain her temper and sounded impressively civil when she asked, “How are we going to get out?” Her pupils were still blown, but that would have to wait. If I bit her, I was going to end up fucking her, and we definitely didn’t have the time. “What about the other prisoners?”

“Not my problem,” I said, quickly checking for updates. Not my problem yet, I amended.

  “We can’t leave them!”

She was clipping the suit together, which was tragic. I’d like to keep her naked for a week. Naked and well-fucked.

“Not my problem,” I repeated. “Maybe someone else will come for them.” Or maybe not…I thought not given the update I’d just received, but the way her eyes pooled with tears and her plump lips trembled, I decided that leaving it at maybe was close enough. I caught hold of her hair and dragged her against me, letting a gentle rumble out. She stopped struggling immediately, and I petted her hair as a reward. We were in danger here, she was in danger, and I needed to get her out. Ryker could comfort her later, once she was safe—after he fucked her.

Her hair was silky soft under my fingers, but reluctantly, I released her.

  “Time to leave,” I said.

  CHAPTER SEVEN

  Ryker

TROUBLE HAD KICKED off in Hudson’s sector. We were waiting not far from him in a hotel, opposite the hospital where Lilly had recently been held. Busting down a couple of doors, we had found a room with a good view of the street. It was tiny, and we’d tossed the bed into the corridor to give us some space.

Here, we had been forced to wait, impotent, as the Uncorrupted rolled in and out, loading truck after truck with prisoners. I had counted close to a hundred troops all up, and as many prisoners.

They had done things to the doctor before they left—hurt her. Seeing tears trickling down the face of the little Omega in Logan’s care while that had gone down, had put the team in a deadly mood.

Doctor Brach wasn’t mine to protect—yet. I had orders, and my orders were to wait and report. I had a reputation for being creative in the application of orders, but in this case, I didn’t have enough men or firepower to do anything else.

So, I watched Eloise’s silent tears, let her intense emotions wash over me. Some of the team looked away, uncomfortable. Not me. I was stone cold inside. I relished the glistening path the tears made on her face, every shaky breath, and every sniff as she tried to contain the echo of Lilly’s feelings.

  Her tears solidified my purpose.

Not far from here, the Uncorrupted had brought two transport ships in, flattening several city blocks to allow for their landing. The prisoners from the hospital had been seen being taken back to those ships. Eloise had detected the doctor’s location with sufficient confidence, so we knew she had been taken to the ship with them. In the last update from command, they had confirmed that Ethan was headed there; he could be inside the ship by now. I couldn’t see how Ethan was going to extract the doctor now that she was on board, but apparently, Ethan had a plan.

I had born witness to Ethan’s plans before—the man was a maniac, which, coming from me was an indication of just how much of a maniac he was.

An hour had passed since the last of the prisoners had been rounded up, but the street below had been far from quiet.

“What the fuck are they still sniffing about for?” Logan muttered from the window to my left where he surveyed the hospital entrance from our fifth-story room. His little Omega sat to the side of him, back against the wall, knees pulled in close to her chest.

I stood at the next window, likewise studying the activity below. Most of the team were in the room with us, but two more were on the roof, and a few others were scattered around.

The research center was on the upper floors of the hospital, and according to command, it had not been breached. The critical nature of the research had meant that drop doors were fitted to seal it, in the event of such an attack. Even should someone get inside, the data was stored remotely, and the laboratories would have been wiped the moment they were cleared of personnel.

“They must have known it was a viral research center. Perhaps they also knew that many of the staff were living in the same building,” I said. “Hoping to get lucky and pick up the research or employees. Either would be useful.” There was no chance they would find useful research there. That didn’t mean they hadn’t been hoping.

And they had stumbled upon the one person most vital to the research.

“They didn’t miss the drop door closing by much,” Logan said. “I’m sure Doctor Brach wasn’t alone in being caught on the wrong side.”

“The rest don’t matter,” I replied.

I caught Logan’s eyes. He shrugged and nodded.

An update came through my communicator.

“We’ve got civilians incoming from the north-east,” I said. “And enemy patrols from the west.”

“We’re compromised,” the surveillance operator called. He had a portable viewer connected to cameras at key locations. “The side entrance.”

My communicator sent a stream of static into my ears. “What the fuck?”

“Shit. Coms are dead,” the surveillance operator confirmed. “I’ve got nothing. All channels are out.”

“We need to check the hospital,” Logan said. “Lilly has been there, and it will help Eloise better track her location. We might get coms back, or we might not. Ethan is on the ship. When he gets her out, we’ll need to move quickly.”

I nodded. The loss of coms saw everyone hitting the room at a run. “Let’s move,” I said. “We’re going into the hospital.”

Packs were gathered, weapons readied, and together we trekked down the five flights of stairs.

Gunfire welcomed us the moment we hit ground level. Two armored Uncorrupted vehicles peeled off, and two more rolled in behind them. The damn street had turned into a thoroughfare.

“This is ugly,” Logan muttered from behind me.

He was right. It took me a microsecond to decide that sitting on this would only get the team antsy. I did a quick mental tally of our available weapons, then motioned one of the team to pass over his rocket-propelled grenade launcher. He gave me a funny look as I checked the charge—good for a dozen shots, plenty.

“Wait here,” I called over my shoulder as I stepped out into the street.

Armored vehicles were coming through in regular convoys of three. I must have confused the occupants of the next convoy because they took a full second to react. I admit, it was a little unorthodox walking straight out into the middle of the road, but I wanted to get a clean line of sight.

It went to veer around me—fuck knows why, I would have floored the throttle and mown my ass down. I hit the vehicle with the perfect shot, and it bounced straight up into the air. By veering left, they had left a gap for the next vehicle. I fired, and as it rolled onto its side, I leaped up onto the roof of the first.

A few occupants from the downed vehicles crawled out of the wreckage and began shooting up a storm. My team returned fire from the cover of the building. They must have decided my “wait here” was now void due to the carnage in the road.

It took me two shots to take out the third vehicle, and by this time, another triple convoy was rolling around the corner of the street. I was never a great shot over distance, but I had seven power-grenades left, and it only took five to pop the ‘can’.

The debris blocked the street, and I grinned when the next convoy backed up and took another route.

Jumping off the roof, I slipped the launcher over my shoulder. A few of the Uncorrupted were still alive and were putting up a token fight. The team swarmed over the vehicles, and within minutes, we had taken them down.

I gave the clear signal to Logan, who followed with the last few men, escorting Eloise across the street.

“That’s one way to get it done,” Logan said as he approached.

I grinned, feeling pleased with myself, while also acknowledging that this was why they never put me in charge of operations. “No point in overthinking things,” I said, falling in step beside him as we crossed the skycar port and headed into the hospital foyer.

“Pretty sure you skipped the thinking part that’s supposed to happen before,” Logan said dryly. “How the fuck did you get put on point?”

“Right place at the right time,” I said.

“No, you’re confused,” he said. “Wrong place at the wrong time.”

Two of the vast windowed walls that faced the skycar port had been shattered, and glass crunched under our boots. Weapon flashlights illuminated the destruction: bullet-riddled walls, overturned chairs and tables from the coffee shop, and ratty scraps of clothing and abandoned bags.

And bodies, there were more than a few bodies.

Eloise remained quiet as she made her way about the area under Logan’s attentive watch. This was her second operation, and from what I had heard, the first one had been a complete fuck up…although some interesting rumors were going around about it.
