As far as the ranch was concerned, the whole place was up and running now. A full compliment of horses, cattle and ranch hands were now present on the spread. Some townsfolk had worked together and a group of trusted ranch hands recruited from around the territory. After what had happened before, Noah had been happy to accept the help.
Abigail felt a gentle tug on her arm. She glanced up at Noah. He tilted his head, indicating he wanted to speak to her away from the guests. She followed him over to the entrance gate. Above her head, the words Double T were etched in bold lettering on a massive slab of wood.
Standing beneath the towering gate, with the rangeland spreading out beyond them, Abigail felt suddenly calm. Of course, she'd been nervous before and even during the wedding. But now, all that mattered was that Noah, her husband, was gazing at her with absolute love.
"Hello, Mrs MacKendrick," Noah murmured with a teasing look in his eyes. She'd seen that look plenty of times in the last few weeks.
Abigail lifted her chin upwards. Noah's head dipped and he kissed her gently and tenderly.
Before their lips parted, Abigail heard a huge appreciative roar rise up from the gathered guests. She turned her head toward them and smiled. "We're being watched, Noah," she told him.
Noah glanced over toward the ranch house and then back at her. "I can see that," he said, sounding like he approved. "They know we're in love."
Abigail laughed quietly. "You're right," she said, lifting her hand to his face and caressing his smooth skin. "We are in love, aren't we."
Then Noah leaned forward and kissed Abigail one more time.
