A tiny girl began to hum a song and, like magic, a rainbow stretched across the sky. The children smiled as they looked from the face of the kind man to the beautiful colors painted on the canvas above them. The dreariness was gone. The cold, empty feeling inside htheir souls that made them weary became a distant memory. Now all they saw was the sun, the rainbow, and the billowy clouds that danced between them—the brilliant ball of happiness shining on faces.

Suddenly Jamison’s body began to glow as he stood in front of the children. But the kids didn’t turn away. Instead, they moved closer to him. Soon the brilliance surrounding Jamison’s body made it impossible for the children to see him. Still, they held out their tiny arms, trying to touch him. One by one, they walked into his body, smiling and filled with laughter.

  “Home,” Jamison whispered.

He located the family members of each child and sent them there. The Huturo had extinguished the light of so many of their parents that there was no other choice. The mothers and fathers were gone.

Jamison walked to the roof’s edge when the last child was gone and looked at the field. The other Angels were battling the Huturo and winning.

“So much anger and evil,” he whispered.

Jamison flapped his enormous wings and shot into the sky. He hovered over the field, watching quietly as the Angels shot thunderbolts into the fleeing monsters. When the Angels killed the last Huturo, Jamison landed on the field and walked to the forest’s edge.

“Is he in there?” asked Haleena.

“Yes,” replied Jamison. “But I feel something more sinister inside.”

  “Forneus, maybe?” said Malaika.

Jamison moved closer to the darkness, and a gust of cold wind blew out of the forest, making his wings shiver.

“No. This evil is something different.”

“Should we seek guidance from the Halls before entering?”

“There isn’t enough time. We must convince Arlo to turn away from his sinful existence in the undead realm before it’s too late. Our presence here has alerted Hell of his importance, and they, too, will send their soldiers to convince him to give his soul to their cause.”

Malaika flapped her wings and walked into the forest. “Let’s get him,” she said as she disappeared into the darkness.

Jamison and Haleena cast worried looks at one another before following Malaika into the dark forest.
