“NGHYYAAaaahhhnnn…”
Madge’s eyes grew wide and wet, her lips puffing up and out as if she wanted to kiss the air, as a fat clear bead of pre-cum oozed from the tip of my cock, filling the small safe room with a manly musk.
“There it issss!” The hissed voice was Ava’s, and I saw her out of the corner of my eye slump down against the wall, one hand slipping into the waistband of her night pants, but the movements barely registered.
Madge’s large nipples hardened against her sports bra and tight top, and the image of her topless in the movie flashed through my mind. My head filled with the scent of her once again, not just her womanhood which overflowed, but the complex knot of emotions that made up her heart and soul.
Savoring the woman’s interior and exterior beauty, I grunted in pleasure, balls tightening as my orgasm swept through. Thick lines of pearlescent cum arced out and landed across Madge’s upturned face and neck. Again and again, my cock spewed forth, the load coating the woman’s face and plastering her shirt to her chest.
“Oh God… ohhh God!”
Madge fell back, eyes rolling into her skull in ecstasy. But I was falling as well. The fever rushed back with a vengeance, my vision swimming as a cold sweat broke out all over me again.
“CT? CT!” Mom’s shout of worry was distant and dim, but I clung to the sound, using it like a lifeline to pull myself back into some semblance of consciousness.
I found her supporting me, the heavy steel door pressed against my other side as she shouted at Madge.
“Madge, CT is sick or hurt… help me!”
The woman stood on a shaky leg, her expression still groggy and shocked, face coated in a comical amount of cum. Wiping one eye clear, she stepped over to help, and I struggled to apologize for not being able to stand on my own. For some reason that was very important to my addled mind, but darkness stole me under a moment later, and I saw Madge lurch forward, grabbing at me.
Chapter 9
A hard bounce shook me from dark, haunted dreams, and my mind struggled to make sense of everything crashing against my senses.
Bright green light shone in my face, and my back was wrenched in an awkward position. Something soft and warm rested against the top and back of my head, and an earthy, womanly aroma filled my nostrils with every breath.
“You should have seen him, Madge.” My stepmom’s warm voice came from directly above me, and I felt her gentle hand stroke the hair back from my face. As she leaned forward, the softness of her large breasts pressed against my head, and I almost swooned when I felt a hard nipple press against my scalp.
The desire swelling up within me made the sickness ramp back up with a vengeance, and I groaned as aches wracked my limbs. I missed the exchange between the pair, but Ava’s arms held me close to her as I shook with fever.
“Don’t worry, Ava,” Madge said, and I took a measure of comfort from the calm confidence in her tone. “When Danny got the Catalyst, he suffered a similar sickness. Tell me again what happened with you and he when you… It might give us clues as to what type of Alpha he is.”
“I still can’t believe it… my CT… my sweet, beautiful CT is an Alpha like Daniel…”
“We can’t know for certain yet,” Madge said, her voice fading as my grip on consciousness slipped. “Plus if he is, there were three different variants, and who knows what that gas was…”
Unable to hold on to awareness anymore, I fell back into dark green dreams of thick jungle and a mélange of forest scents. My head filled with the scent of my prey, a musky, womanly aroma that I stalked with a focus I’d rarely known. The creature would become part of my pride… I hungered to feel her bent over beneath me, growling in pleasure as I bred her… Dreams of rushing through forests, on the hunt with my pride… Hot blood filling my mouth and the sweet sensation of flesh tearing beneath my fangs.
Sudden silence pulled me from the dreams, and I shivered, wracked with fever still. Hands pulled me, and I stumbled along, the scent of nature and the forest filling my lungs, renewing my spirit. Then we were inside a small room, the musty aroma telling me it hadn’t seen fresh air or sunlight in years.
I fell onto a small couch, curling in on myself as my stepmom moved about me, pulling a blanket over and tucking it in around. Consciousness slipped once more as she smiled down at me with a beatific grin, her scent filled with all-consuming love as she pushed the hair from my face with gentle fingers.
“Rest my hero,” she whispered. “We’re safe because of you… sleep and dream of the new world you’ll make for us.”
Her strange words set me on another journey through dark and wild dreams, but rest came at some point. When my eyes opened next, it was to look upon a world gone mad with fresh eyes and senses.
The first thing I noticed as I opened my eyes was the absence of civilization, both smells and sounds. Nature filled my lungs and ears with a cacophony of sounds and smells. The scent of ponderosa pine and Douglas fir dominated, but a hundred different varietals of undergrowth and lichen greeted me, as well as the musky aroma of mulch from downed trees and decaying things.
Memory flooded back, and I sat up, looking around fearfully and sighing in relief once I spotted Ava and Madge, laid out on an inflatable mattress beneath a thick comforter. They were both dead asleep, and I could make out that they’d cleaned up at some point in the dim, early morning light.
The sun wasn’t up yet, but through the large picture windows, I could see that the horizon was aglow. Rising slowly and stretching stiff limbs, I glanced around the small, one-room cabin. There was a picture hanging on one wall of Madge and her deceased husband. They were in their early twenties and standing in thick snow just outside the cabin, wearing skis and smiling for the camera.
There was a small kitchenette in one corner, and a washer and dryer unit tucked into a closet, but other than that the place was barebones. Feeling a pinch and unable to locate a bathroom, I slipped outside and nearly gasped at the gorgeous vista stretching out before me.
A single, snowcapped peak rose to my left, its smooth slopes reaching down into the thick forest below us. Mount Hood dominates the Portland area skyline, and I could recognize its slope from anywhere, even up on it, but I’d never thought to see the forest below from such a place.
The cabin sat at the top of a narrow gravel road that wound its way down the mountain’s side to a ski resort. A couple other cabins dotted the way down, but there were no cars or any signs of other people or mutants, thank God.
Instead, I was met with the abundance of nature and it woke within me a primal side. A side of myself I’d always known was there but had been too scared to bring out or explore.
I still wore the torn and bedraggled clothes from the night before, so I poked my head in the cab of the truck and found my backpack. Pulling out a set of clothes, I pulled on boxers and Levi’s. It felt good to be in clean clothes again, but I eschewed the shirt for now, enjoying the cold wind caressing my torso.
Chapter 10
I stayed outside as the sun rose, drinking in the gorgeous vista from Madge’s cabin and letting the stimuli of nature sink in as I took deep breaths. A sound from within alerted me to one of the women waking, and when I turned back to the cabin’s entrance, I found Madge sitting up, holding the blanket across her T-shirt-covered chest.
The woman blushed when she saw me standing in the doorway, highlighted by the newly risen sun. My lean torso and fledgling muscles gleamed in the golden light. I caught a whiff of her scent and felt my lips curl into a hungry smile at what I found.
Madge smelled of awe, and more than a little shock, but overriding both of those emotions was the citrus scent of desire and the solid warmth of deep affection. Silently she rose, slipping free of the blanket, no longer shy about her bra-less breasts swinging freely in her loose shirt. Her slender, naked legs flashed in the light as she approached me, her eyes locked upon mine.
“How do you feel, CT? Are you… smelling new things? Do you feel… out of control?”
As she asked that last question, she gripped the bottom of her long T-shirt and raised it slightly, giving me a peek of pale pink panties. My heart thudded in my chest, and the blood rushed through my ears as the beast within me stirred, but I easily held myself back from the desire to take her like a beast right then and there.
“I feel… wonderful,” I said. “Not out of control or… wild… but I do scent new things or maybe it’s just that I finally understand what I always smelled? I’m not sure.”
“Thank heavens…” Madge breathed. “You’re not one of the Betas. That could have been bad.”
“You spoke of your husband… Danny, and of… Alphas?” Madge nodded, and I could see the need to speak filling her. “Tell me everything.”
She glanced at my sleeping stepmom and motioned outside to the porch where we sat on the wooden edge, our feet resting on the slope. When she spoke it was in a rush, as if she’d been preparing what to reveal.
“There’s a lot I don’t know.” It was odd having a woman a decade and a half my senior taking my orders so easily, especially since I didn’t feel wholly comfortable around her yet. “But Danny told me what he could. For the last century, a secret group has been behind most of the world’s greatest advances. In science, technology, the arts, media, politics… their influence is incalculable. At first, these individuals only existed in America, but the Enkyos Serum eventually got into the hands of other countries.
“Danny told me enough to know it was a major scandal when Alphas started popping up all over the world. Well, the chaos and conflict, polarization and rise of extremist violence around the world was a result of that poor implementation, Danny always said. And since then, the writing has been on the wall. The Balphas are too violent and clannish. They’ve weaponized a brand of nationalism that made all this.”—she waved her hand back at the city in the far distance—“inevitable. War was inevitable, but Danny never imagined they’d use the Catalyst against us as a weapon.”
I sat in silence for a few seconds, digesting what she’d said and fitting it in with what I knew of the world as it had been.
“Balphas?” I asked. “That’s a dumb name. What about the others?”
“That’s what Danny called them,” Madge said with a faint blush and a shrug. “He didn’t have much respect for them. There are few in America, or so I gathered. It’s rare a man has the genetic markers to catalyze the serum fully. Danny said they tested over a million men before they found him.”
She looked off into the distance with a wistful expression, and I could sense the rush of loss and love she felt for her deceased husband. But the sadness had been softened by time, and she turned back to me with a warm smile, a heat growing there as she stared into my eyes, continuing.
“Alpha is what they called Daniel and the others like him. I only met two of them, and they were both… impressive men. Just like my Danny.” The pride in her was fierce as she went on. “But he told me once of another… breed. He didn’t like talking about Tom… I think he was jealous of the man.” Her eyes twinkled with amusement, and she reached out and ran a long painted nail down my arm, sending a shiver up my spine.
“There have only been two Prime Alphas. The first, Danny said, would be over a hundred and fifty years old now. And the last was Tom Redding.”
“The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Tom Redding?” I asked with a half laugh.
“Yes.”
She said it so simply, expression so frank, that I knew she couldn’t be lying or acting.
“And these mutants?” I asked. “Are they part of this too?”
“Danny never mentioned anything like them to me,” Madge said with a shake of her head, the fear awakening in her at the horrific memories. “CT, this is more important than those monsters.”
Her hand had trailed down my arm and now gripped mine, drawing it into her other hand to clasp it warmly between them.
“Madge, there is a zombie apocalypse reigning in the world,” I said wryly. “I think that’s the most important thing right now. Staying alive and keeping clear of them.”
“I didn’t say it wasn’t important at all, just that this is more important.” Her scent grew heavy with arousal, and I shifted uncomfortably, but she drew my hand closer to her heart. “CT, we have to think about humanity now. About binding ourselves into a tribe, into a… pride.”
“We need to worry about staying alive,” I said, pushing down my own desires. It was easy to lose control in the dark of night, and easier to push those memories to the back of my mind. “I’m going to check on what those rednecks packed in the truck.”
“CT, listen to her.” Ava’s voice brought me up short when I stood and turned, taking in her stunning body from naked toes, up toned legs, to her hourglass figure, and felt that ache inside turn painful. Shoving it down, I felt myself grow stubborn as Ava went on.
“Last night was a shock, in more ways than one. I still don’t know what to think about everything.” Her pale cheeks darkened to a deep shade of red, and she tripped over her words before going on in a rush. “You know that… with those mutant-thingies. But everything’s gone now. Our home, our things, our jobs… everything, but each other.”
“Before anything else, I’m going to make sure we have food, water, a first aid kit, and anything else essential to staying alive. Then we’re going to sit down and make a plan about what to do next, all of us together. After that…” My eyes skipped between the two of them and a low growl issued from the back of my throat as I mastered my desire.
Ava and Madge shivered, the former actress’s nipples hardening against her long shirt. The moment hung between us, pregnant with meaning, then I groaned and gripped my stomach as it gave a loud rumble.
“After that, we eat. I’m starving.”
“Yes, you would be,” Madge said, her eyes sharp, weighing this new me against the old if I judged her correctly. Her scent smelled satisfied, while my stepmom’s smelled conflicted.
Chapter 11
Pushing them out of my head the best I could, I walked over to the truck and began unlacing the cords holding the tarp in place. Beneath, I found more of what I had the night before when I peeked under it. Neatly arranged pallets of dry goods in weatherproof sealants and canned goods packaged in thick cardboard boxes to keep them from digging into the plastic containers of water and fuel.
I found a kit near one of the fuel reserves with a funnel and tube that I figured was for siphoning the diesel out. Flicking the key over, I saw the gauge was below half and pulled the kit out. Choking on the mouthful of rancid liquid I took into my mouth as I sucked on the hose, I had it filled up in less than five minutes.
Darnel and his father might have been honorless and ready to commit the vilest of acts, but I had to hand it to them when it came to preparing for an apocalypse. They had all the essentials we might need for several months alone in the wilderness, including many things for growing food and starting a homestead.
There was a whole ice chest filled with seeds and cuttings from various fruit trees and grain crops. Enough to plant an entire farm for several seasons. I didn’t see what use we would have of such things, my appetite only craving meat and proteins, but it wouldn’t hurt to bring them with us if we decided to leave.
Ammunition was in short supply, but only because of the variety of weapons stashed in a steel footlocker. I found a half dozen pistols, long rifles, two more shotguns, and one lovingly cared for automatic rifle. I don’t know much about guns, but it looked like what a soldier carried, complete with a half dozen doodads and gizmos attached to rails.
I set the rifle and its soft case aside for later and took out a leather holster for the pistol I carried, strapping it about my shoulders and back so the gun sat along my side, leaving my arm free to swing. Pulling out a pair of smaller guns for Ava and Madge, I took out several boxes of ammo for everything. Three cans of chili, a package of bacon, and three cans of fruit cocktail would have to see us through the afternoon. Then I packed the truck back up, just in case we had to leave in a hurry.
We would need to leave eventually, I decided, after hiking around the cabin and down into the surrounding hills for an hour. Other than dried creeks that had once run with snowmelt, there was no fresh water within easy walking distance of the cabin. I hadn’t seen running water in the kitchenette, just a reservoir and pump near the faucet, and we’d need to be in a place with ready access to water.
It wasn’t only the search for water that drew me into the woods, but also the new sights, sounds, and smells that inundated me. I felt more alive than ever before in my life. My awareness extended beyond my sight with sound and smell.
I could practically feel the small rodents and mammals scurrying away as I loped down narrow game trails. When I ran into the wind, I had fun startling the chipmunks and squirrels and hearing their little squeals of fright as I raced by. When they spotted me coming and hid in the underbrush, as opposed to scurrying up a tree, I sometimes stopped to sniff them out, feeling a savage thrill as they dashed away, trailing rancid fear in their wake.
The little vermin didn’t appreciate me, but if it came down to it, I felt confident I could hunt with either the pistol in my holster or a rifle from the truck’s stash and keep us fed on meat. But something warned me that wouldn’t be enough for a long winter this far north, we would need fat and lots of it if we didn’t have a warm den.
Returning to the cabin, I scented bacon on the wind and found my feet racing beneath me. I pulled up short when I spotted Madge and Ava standing on the side of the cabin, erecting a large bag on a steep rack set into the cabin’s frame. Neither had bothered to put on bras, though they wore tight workout pants of the same color and cut that must have come from Madge’s closet.
As they wrestled the large bladder into place, small bits of water splashed out of the spigot, plastering their white shirts against their chests, backs, and torsos. My mouth went dry as I approached, seeing a fantasy playing out before me from many teenage nights.
