And then, after a while, it all sort of morphed into us just talking, which we did for a bit and then a bit more than that and then Jack went on home.

Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m not saying this is the moment where I found the love of my life. Jack’s a really nice guy and a good friend but I’m not really his type – I look nothing like Mark Ruffalo – and he’s probably not really mine, come to think of it. Besides, there’s a whole life out there left for both of us.

At least, now it feels like there might be one.

And I won’t say for definite if it was the kiss that felt like the moment when I lost my virginity, #6 added to the list, because now that I think about it, that really is the kind of private thing that should go behind a black box and not all of this swearing and sex crap. You can only lose it once, and maybe, finally, it’s just private.

  , you know?

  But I will say this.

Through that whole night, all of it, I didn’t sleep a wink. I was worried about the next day at school, sure I was, but I also kept putting my hand up to my lips, pressing them lightly, feeling where Jack’s lips touched mine, actually touched them.

Just to keep reminding myself that it actually happened.
