Challenged by the Alien Captain, page 17
She whimpers, her gaze rising to meet mine. Her cheeks are flushed, her blonde hair spread out around her in a messy array. Her green eyes are glazed with desire as she slides one hand down the flat plane of her stomach toward the place where I impale her.
As her fingers find her clit, they brush against my cock with every stroke, and we both groan, the sounds mixing in with our harsh breathing and the sounds of our bodies colliding.
“I’ve never… done this before,” she pants, biting her lip as her fingers move faster. “Never touched myself in front of anyone.”
I can’t help the primal, possessive satisfaction that fills me at that. I enjoy knowing that I’m the only one she’s ever trusted enough to share this part of herself with, that I’m the only one who gets to see her like this—naked, stretched around my cock, and lost to her pleasure.
“You look so vrecking perfect like this,” I promise her, my cock throbbing as I slow my strokes just enough to hold off my release for a little while longer. “Like a goddess. Like my goddess. Are you close?”
“Y-yeah.” She nods frantically, her eyelids drooping a little as her fingers move faster. “Oh fuck, Siro. Harder, please.”
There’s no way I could ever deny my mate anything, especially when she asks like that. Especially when we both want it. Releasing my hold on her ankles, I wrap her legs around my waist and lean over her, covering her upper body with mine as I change the angle of my thrusts.
Her fingers are still wedged between us, and although she doesn’t have as much freedom to move like this, I know that she’s still hitting the exact spot she needs to, because her breath is coming in choppy gasps as she nears her climax.
“Yes, that’s it,” I grunt. “So good. So tight.”
Her inner walls tighten around me as if in response to my words, ripping a groan from my lips as a spike of sensation shoots through me.
“I’m coming,” she whispers, her mouth falling open. “Oh god, it feels so good. You feel so good. I can’t—I can’t—fuck!”
She writhes beneath me, her body moving restlessly as pleasure courses through her. Her fingers fly over her clit, and I grunt savagely as I thrust into her one more time and then still. For a single, suspended moment, I hang on the edge of climax, overwhelmed by how vrecking good it feels to be buried completely inside my mate.
Then my release hits, making my cock throb as I pour my seed into her.
As I slowly come back to myself, the last aftershocks of pleasure still rippling through my body, I can’t help but laugh. Darcy and I were in the middle of breakfast when I got distracted by her, overcome by my desire, and there’s still food on the table, although it was hastily pushed aside in my urgency to claim her again.
Still buried inside her, feeling her body flutter around my cock with the small waves of her pleasure, I reach for a small red berry, gently tracing it over her lower lip.
“Mmm.” Darcy opens her mouth, her tongue darting out to taste my offering.
The sight sends a shiver of lust down my spine, reminding me of all of the things I’ve felt that tongue do as it slides over my cock. Her lips purse around my fingers as I slip the berry between her lips, sucking softly, and despite the fact that I released my seed only moments ago, I can feel my shaft starting to swell again already.
“Do you want another?” I smile down at her as she eats the berry, my voice rough with desire. “Are you still hungry?”
“Yes.” She nods, her gaze locked on mine.
Massaging her breast lightly with my free hand, I reach over to pick up another berry. This time, I trail it through a bowl containing nivruu—a sticky, syrupy substance that Zivonians often eat on bread. Darcy was surprised to see something so luxurious on a small ship like this, but I informed her that it was the favorite treat of almost everyone on Zivon, and no ship’s galley would be complete without it.
I trail the berry over her lips, watching as the nivruu clings to them. I bend down as she swallows the berry, kissing her and licking away the syrup, sucking her lower lip into my mouth as she moans.
She clenches around me, her hips arching a little as my cock swells even more. I remember the game we played days ago, the game of truths, and I gaze down at my beautiful mate beneath me.
“When we get back to The Oasis, we’ll start our life together,” I murmur. “Truth?”
Darcy nods, gasping a little as I shift my hips. “Truth.” She licks a drop of syrup off her lip, her pupils large in her green eyes. “We’ll make a home together on the new planet that Ryven hopes to find. Truth?”
I nod, rolling my hips again, enjoying the small gasp that she makes each time I press deeper inside her. “And once we have that home—or even before that, if we’re fortunate—I’ll watch you swell with my child. And then another, and another. As many as you’re willing to give me. Truth?”
“Yes,” she whispers, her sea-green eyes brightening. “Truth. I definitely want children, and I hoped you would too. But…” She hesitates, biting her lip. “My sister can stay with us, for as long as she needs to. Truth?”
Worry is clear in her voice, and all I want is to reassure her. I want her to know that she’ll always have everything she needs, everything she could possibly want, and that the same sentiment goes for her sister as well. I know how important family is, and Zivonians value that as much as anyone—maybe even more.
“Truth,” I tell her, and relief washes over her face. “You’ll be happy to be my mate and start a family with me, even if it means not going back to Terra?”
“Truth,” Darcy assures me, nodding emphatically. “There’s nothing on Terra for me anymore. And I think Maya feels the same.” She pauses, her gaze searching mine. “I want so many things with you. Things I never thought I’d have. A partner, children, a family beyond Maya. I became almost like a mother to her when we were very young, and I always felt like that was probably going to be it for me. That I’d never trust any man enough to have more than that. I never thought I’d have the chance to become a mother for real.”
“I’m more than happy to give you that,” I murmur, running my fingers over her cheek. “If that’s what you want.”
“It is,” she whispers. “I want to do better than our mother did. I want to bring a child into this universe and make them feel safe and secure and loved—everything that Maya and I never had.” She pulls back a little, a flicker of worry breaking through the sated contentment on her face. “Do you think the other Zivonians will ever be able to forgive me? That they’ll ever trust me or accept me as your mate?”
“Of course they will,” I promise, and I mean every word. “You have more than proven yourself. You were sent to do a terrible thing, but not only did you not follow through on your mission, you helped us deal a massive blow to the Kruul who still pursue us. You’ve earned the right to call yourself one of us, the right to call yourself a warrior, and that’s something no one can ever question.”
The small line between Darcy’s eyebrows smooths out, and I lean up to kiss that spot as I add, “And besides, even if none of them accepted you as my mate, it could never change how I feel about you. I’m sure they’ll come to see you the same way I do, but I promise, I will never stop loving you. No matter what.”
Darcy leans up, brushing her lips against mine as her fingers trail over my cheek. She tastes sweet, and I groan softly against her mouth. The need for her is always there, and I can feel it building again like a wave, urgent and powerful.
“I love you,” she breathes into our kiss. “I’m grateful that somehow, despite all the bad things that could’ve forced us apart, we found something so good at the heart of it all. We found each other.”
“You are my soul’s mate.” I cup her face in my hands, threading my fingers into her hair as I begin to thrust harder. “Out of all the beings in the universe, there was only ever you for me.”
My words are a whisper against her mouth as I begin to move, luxuriating in the feeling of her soft skin against mine, and in the freedom to take her wherever and whenever we please. There’s no one else on this ship, no pressing matters to attend to. I can have her again, right now, simply because I want her and she wants me.
Darcy wraps her legs around my hips, winding herself around me, and I know as I sink into her that we’ve both found what we needed most.
We were two people without a real home, and now we’ve found the only home we’ll ever need.
Each other.
Epilogue
MAYA
“I’m on my way to a place called The Oasis,” I mutter to myself, “flying on a stolen ship with an alien warrior named Anzir.”
Huh. That’s definitely one of the strangest sentences I’ve ever said in my life.
I’m relieved to be free of the Kruul, and I find myself savagely glad that their entire ship got destroyed by my sister and the Zivonians who came to rescue me. Maybe I should feel sorry for the Kruul or something, but it’s hard to muster up a lot of pity for my former captors.
They deserved it.
They bought my sister and me as slaves, kept us in a cage like animals, and threatened to kill me if she couldn’t carry out the mission they gave her. I have no doubt they would’ve followed through on that threat if she and the two aliens she was with hadn’t come back to rescue me.
But now I’m on a different alien ship, with a different alien.
Truthfully, I’m still reeling from it all. I went from being held captive to being rescued by my sister and two strange aliens who looked almost like my captors. Darcy promised me that the Zivonians and the Kruul are different, and I can see the truth of that in the way they act. There seem to be slight differences in their appearances too, including their eyes and the placement of the grooves on their faces.
But the most obvious difference is the fact that the Kruul kept me captive as a slave, and the Zivonians rescued me.
Just based on that fact alone, I know I’m much better off on this ship with a Zivonian. But my sister definitely lucked out, getting to go off with the more friendly one.
Unfortunately for me, I got stuck with what seems to be the grouchiest alien in the entire universe. I mean, I’m grateful for the rescue, and he’s a hell of a lot better than any of the Kruul were, but that’s not a high bar.
I’m not sure if he doesn’t like me, or if this is just the way he always is, but he’s said about two words to me since we got off the Kruul ship. He’s like a walking, breathing statue, and to be honest… it’s kind of weirding me out a little.
Darcy probably got along with him fine, because she’s always been quieter and more serious than me. Between the two of us, I’ve always been the more extroverted and energetic one. I like people, and conversations, and talking. I like having fun. And yes, that’s gotten me in trouble sometimes, and yes, Darcy has had to get me out of those scrapes occasionally, but the silence on this ship is really grating on me.
It’s clear that it’s going to take us quite a while to reach this ship called The Oasis, so two days after leaving the Kruul ship behind, I decide I’m going to get at least one answer from this grumpy alien.
I want to know what’s going on between my sister and her alien.
“You know,” I tell Anzir casually over breakfast, “I saw my sister kissing the other one—Siro, right?—when we were on the Kruul ship. Is that… normal? For you guys to hook up with humans?”
Anzir frowns at me, looking up from his food. His irises are a gorgeous amber color ringed with bronze, and they glint like burnished metal as he narrows his eyes.
“I do not know what hooking up is,” he says gruffly. “But it has recently become apparent that our kind can mate with yours. Several of the Terran women on The Oasis have formed soul bonds with our warriors.”
Soul bonds?
My eyebrows shoot up so high that I can feel my forehead wrinkling. The one Darcy was kissing was really hot, even if he did look a bit like the aliens who captured us, so I figured she was just having a fling with him. Living a little. God knows she could use it. But a soul bond?
That sounds fucking serious.
She hasn’t even know him for that long.
“That sounds… intense,” I venture. “So, what, is it a forever kind of thing?”
“Yes,” Anzir grunts, taking another bite of his breakfast.
I let out a breath, more than a little frustrated. I can talk a lot when I get a good head of steam built up, but I don’t like feeling as if I’m carrying the entire conversation. And that’s exactly what it feels like is going on here.
Resting my chin on my hand, I cock my head. “So, do you have a mate?”
I was just trying to keep the discussion going, but I guess that was the wrong thing to say. Anzir’s entire face hardens, his shoulders stiffening as he picks up a chunk of bread.
“No. I don’t.”
Those are the only three words he says, but they have all the finality of a door slamming shut, making it clear he has no intention of continuing the conversation.
Yikes. Okay. Sorry.
I bite back the urge to say something snarky, wishing I could take back the question. He was just starting to talk to me in more than one-word sentences, and now it seems like he’s closed himself off entirely.
We eat in silence for a few more minutes, and just as I expected, Anzir doesn’t say another word to me. I’m about to go try to find something to do to pass the time—maybe even just go back to my little sleeping cabin and take a nap—when suddenly, the ship rocks sideways.
“Vreck!” Anzir leaps up, cursing under his breath as he rushes toward the cockpit.
I follow him, my heart crawling into my throat. When the ship rocks again, I yelp, grabbing on to the wall.
“What’s happening?” I gasp as Anzir makes his way toward the controls.
“We’re being fired on,” he says curtly, sliding into the pilot’s seat. “It’s more Kruul. I don’t know if they followed us or recognized the ship as being a stolen vessel, but it won’t vrecking matter if they get a solid hit.”
He veers the spacecraft to one side, and I grab on to the edge of the door, sliding sideways as another blast shudders through the ship. I manage to get to a seat in the cockpit, grabbing for the straps as I try to keep from falling out of it, and I can hear Anzir cursing under his breath as he pilots our small craft.
Anzir fires off a round, and I bite my lower lip hard, feeling my stomach knot with fear.
He swerves, firing again, and I watch as the bolt hits the other ship at the same moment that our attackers let off a volley of fire in our direction. The Kruul ship explodes, rocking ours backward as it splits apart, but their shot hits too.
For one brief, terrifying moment, I’m sure that we’re going to shatter apart as well, and that it will all be over.
But we don’t explode.
Instead, the control panel flickers, the lights going wild, and then the entire system shuts down.
Every panel, every light, dies.
The entire ship goes quiet and still, floating in space.
My heart is still lodged somewhere in my throat, making it hard to draw a breath. I look over at Anzir as he lets out a low, frustrated sound. He’s pressing buttons, flipping switches, doing anything he can to get a response… but it’s not working. Nothing is responding to him.
He tries to power on the comms device, but there’s not even a flicker of a signal.
“We’ve lost power,” the burly alien says, his voice flat. “Not even comms are working. Nothing. The ship is dead in the water.”
I blink at him, swallowing hard. It takes a moment for the words to penetrate my dazed mind, and when they do, my stomach sinks as I realize what this means.
I’m stuck in the middle of space.
No. We’re stuck in the middle of space.
Me and the grumpiest alien in the universe.
