“I’m sure he won’t mind,” Black said.
After unlocking the phone with Baxter’s thumb print, Nick looked at Baxter’s call log.
“Analicia Chaves.”
“I know her,” Rain said.
Rain and Analicia used to be friends until they found out they were both fucking the same man.
Chapter Twenty-four
“You know where to find this woman?” Black asked as they walked back to the car.
“Yeah, I know where the bitch lives,” Rain said.
“Good.” Nick tossed her the keys to the car. “You can drive.”
Nick’s phone began to ring again and once again, he looked at the display, and swiped decline. Only this time he put the phone on vibrate. However, before Nick could return it to his pocket, it began to vibrate.
“Why don’t you just go ahead and answer it,” Black said.
Nick looked at Black and then to Rain before he swiped talk. “Hello.
“It’s about time you answered,” Tasheka said.
“I’ve been busy.”
“And why do I have to hear from other people that you’re back in the country?”
“Like I said, I’ve been busy since I got back,” Nick said as they got in the car. Rain started the car and drove off in the direction of Analicia Chaves’ apartment.
“What got you so busy that you can’t call or send me a message so we can get together?” Tasheka paused. “Oh, yeah, I’m never supposed to ask you about your business.”
“Then why do you?” Nick asked.
“You don’t have to be nasty about it.”
“Look, Tasheka,” he said out loud and Rain cut her eyes at him. She knew that Nick was fucking Tasheka behind her back the entire time they were together. “Like I said, I’m real busy right now, so what do you want?”
“When am I gonna get to see you?” Tasheka asked pleadingly.
“I’ll call you.”
“When?” She whined and Nick ended the call.
“You still fuckin’ that light-eyed bitch?” Rain asked and Nick didn’t feel the need to answer her. “Yeah, you still fuckin’ that bitch. You done fucked the bitch silly and she’s a pain in your ass. You know, like I used to be.” Rain laughed. “I keep telling you, you can’t put all that fat dick in these simple minded ho’s. Makes them crazy.”
“That’s enough, Rain,” Black said.
“You gonna dog April out like you did me, Wanda, and every other woman you’ve ever known?”
“I said that’s enough.”
“I’m sorry, Black. I’ll keep that shit to myself from now on.”
“Apology accepted,” Black said, and Nick looked at Rain. “But she’s right, Nick. You been doggin’ women since I’ve known you.” Black looked out the window. “I hope you do right by April.”
Nobody had much to say on the way to go see Analicia Chaves. While Rain drove, Nick contemplated whether or not he would do right by April. If he was even capable of having a monogamous relationship with a woman.
Any woman.
To this point in his life, Nick hadn’t. He laughed a little to himself as he tried to imagine what a monogamous relationship actually looked like. After a little bit of thought, Nick knew that it wouldn’t be a hard thing to do with April because she was perfect for him. April possessed a number of qualities that appealed to Nick. Since they got together, they’ve spent a lot of time learning from and teaching each other. Even though they were different on so many levels, April allowed Nick the freedom to be who he was, and she didn’t want to change him. He loved April, and no one and no amount of pussy can ruin that.
And that includes good pussy Tasheka and no drama Danielle.
When they got in Analicia’s apartment building and got on the elevator, Rain looked at Nick and Black. “Maybe you two should wait down the hall.”
“Why?” Nick asked.
“I don’t wanna scare her.”
As Rain walked down the hall to Analicia’s apartment, she thought about their friendship and the man that drove them apart. Rain and Analicia went to Immaculate Conception together. When Rain first got there, being the new girl, a girl name Brooke tried her. Since she had just gotten kicked out of public school for fighting and her father paid a lot of money to get her in there, Rain didn’t want to fight Brooke. That ended on the day when Rain had, had enough.
They would always come at her in the lunchroom. So, that day, as soon as they said something to her, Rain took her tray, wheeled around and hit her in the face with it. Rain shook her head as she thought about it. After all that tough talk, this bitch is cryin’ like a fuckin’ baby.
While the other kids were cheering, ‘get her, get her’, Rain kept hitting her with that tray until the teachers came and pulled her off Brooke. Nobody liked the girl because she used to pick on everybody, beating her ass made Rain queen bee. That was how Rain and Analicia hooked up. Analicia was the prettiest girl in school and because of that, Brooke used to fuck with her relentlessly. She was the main one yelling, ‘get her, get her’.
After that, Rain and Analicia became the best of friends. They were the cool girls in school and all the other girls wanted to be around them. They stayed best friends through high school and their friendship survived Analicia’s brief attempt at going to college.
“After one semester a Spelman, I was ready to come back to the city,” Analicia told Rain the day she came home.
“Told you. You shoulda stayed up here with me,” Rain said, and the two best friends picked up where they left off. With Analicia using her beauty to get what she wanted and Rain taking whatever she wanted by force. Then a man came between them.
His name was Bradley Nelson and to Rain and Analicia he was beautiful. They met him at a club one night; Rain met him first and gave him her number. Then later that night, in another part of the club, he met Analicia and she gave up the digits too. Neither Rain nor Analicia knew that they were involved with the same man, but Bradley knew and was happy to be fucking both of them.
It came to a head the day that Rain went to Analicia’s apartment to pick her up to go out. Since she had a key, she let herself in and soon realized that Analicia wasn’t alone. Rain made herself a drink, rolled a blunt and made herself comfortable on the couch. When they got too loud, Rain turned up the sound on the TV to drown them out. Imagine Rain’s surprise when Bradley walked out of the bedroom naked.
His eyes opened wide as Rain bounced up from the couch and pulled her gun. When Analicia came rushing out of the room and Rain told her what was up she went back in the bedroom, gathered up all of Bradley’s clothes and threw them out in the hallway.
“Get the fuck outta my apartment,” Analicia shouted.
Rain put her gun in his face. “I think she means now, nigga.”
After Bradley left, Rain and Analicia argued over it and even though it was neither of their faults, they haven’t spoken since that day.
Rain exhaled and rang the bell, and shortly thereafter, Analicia came to the door. She looked out the peek hole. “Who is it?”
“It’s Rain.”
There was a long silence.
“Do I need to get my gun?”
Rain laughed. “Naw, we cool. I just wanna talk.”
Analicia unlocked and opened the door to let Rain in. The two old friends stood there for a while and just looked at one another. Then they both smiled.
“Damn, I missed you, bitch,” Analicia said.
“I missed your ass too, bitch,” Rain said, and the two friends hugged one another. After that they caught up on what they had missed in each other’s lives
“How’s Miles?”
“Miles is in jail for murder.”
“Miles?”
“Miles,” Rain said.
“Pretty boy, Miles killed somebody?”
“Yup.”
“Not pretty boy, Miles. Say it ain’t so. Who’d he kill?”
“Jeff Ritchie.”
“Your father’s right hand man?”
“Miles put three shots in his chest and one to the head.”
“Damn.”
Just then Rain’s phone rang, and she answered. “This Rain.”
“Everything all right?” Black asked.
“Yeah, Black, everything is cool. We’re just talkin’ and I lost track of time.”
“I understand. Any other time I’d say, take your time, but I need to know what she knows, and I need to know now.”
“Understood,” Rain ended the call.
“Who was that?”
“I work for Mike Black now.”
“Mike Black.” Analicia fanned herself.
“Get your mind from between your thighs, bitch. Mike Black is very happily married and dedicated to his wife.”
“That’s all right. Ain’t no harm in an active fantasy life.”
“True.” Rain paused. “I need your help with something.”
“What’s that?”
“You know Kurtis Baxter, right?”
“What about him?”
“He called you tonight.”
“How do you know that?”
“Don’t worry about that. I’m looking for JoJo Royal, so I need to know what he was talkin’ about.”
Analicia paused. “Then it’s true.”
“What?”
“They tried to have Bobby Ray killed.”
“Yeah. What you know about that?”
“Me and JoJo … well, you know how I roll. That’s why Baxter called me. He was looking for JoJo. Anyway, I was at JoJo’s one night and I heard them talking about it.”
“Who all was there?”
“JoJo, Baxter, and some other guy, I forget his name.”
“Tony Scott?”
“No. I do know Tony, but he wasn’t there that night.” Analicia paused. “I think they called him War.”
“Warwick Barrington.”
“I don’t know.”
“I need to find JoJo. You know where I can find him?”
“JoJo got a place around Netherland Avenue. I’ve only been there once, and I was fucked up, so I stayed in the car.”
“So you don’t know what apartment it is?”
“Sorry. All I can tell you is that it’s not far from Ewen Park.”
“Thanks,” Rain said and stood up.
When she did, Analicia stood up too. “So, bitch, is it gonna be five more years before I see your ass again?”
Rain took out her cell and dialed a number. Analicia’s cell began ringing. “That’s my number. Soon as I get this mess put to rest, me and you gotta hang out.
“How did you get my number?”
“I took it from Baxter’s dead body.”
Analicia shook her head. “You ain’t changed a bit.”
“Yeah, I have. I am much worse now.”
Rain left Analicia’s apartment and got back in the car with Black and Nick.
“Did you get what we needed?” Black asked.
“Yup.” Rain started the car. “JoJo got a place somewhere around Netherland Avenue. But all she could tell me was that it’s not far from Ewen Park.”
Black smiled. “I know exactly where he is.”
Black told Rain to drive to the Westside to a building on Johnson Avenue. On the way, he explained that King had an apartment in that building where he used to bring his women.
“Since King is dead, I’m sure JoJo wouldn’t hesitate to take it over.”
When they arrived at the building Rain drove around a couple of times to check out the area before she parked the car down the street.
“I only saw one man in a car and another standing in front of the building,” Nick said.
“I’ll take the one in the car,” Rain said, and put a silencer on her gun.
“After you take him, I’ll take out the one out front,” Nick said.
“Let’s go,” Black said, and they all got out of the car.
As Rain went toward the car, Black stood in a place where he could see her and the front of the building. Rain kept low and made her way toward the car, but stopped when she heard a car door slam. She looked and saw that the man had gotten out of the car and had lit up a cigarette.
“You just made it easy for me,” Rain said and moved quickly to the car.
While Black watched Rain, Nick positioned himself close to the building and waited for Black’s signal.
While the man smoked, Rain walked right up to him, put her gun to his head and pulled the trigger. When he went down, Black gave Nick the signal. Once Rain moved the body out of sight, she headed for the building.
Nick quickly came up behind the man, grabbed his head and broke his neck. When Black and Rain joined him, Nick opened the door and then he followed Black and Rain inside with their guns drawn.
They moved quickly through the lobby and up the stairs to the floor where they believed JoJo was hiding. Nick looked into the hallway and saw two men approaching. He took aim and fired two shots. Two bodies dropped. While Black moved the bodies into the stairwell, Nick proceeded to the apartment and went to work on the locks.
When he got the door opened they entered and could hear music playing as they made their way through the apartment. It was coming from one of the bedrooms. Nick opened the door and went in. JoJo was being entertained by a dark skinned beauty and she was riding JoJo like her life depended on it. They approached the bed quietly and took up positions on either side of the bed and pointed their weapons.
“Gon’, girl,” Rain said. “Ride that dick.”
As the woman quickly rolled off of JoJo, she fell on the floor and JoJo made a move for his gun. When he did, the woman screamed and covered her head as Black, Nick and Rain all fired. When they left, JoJo was dead, and she was on the floor screaming.
“Shouldn’t we have at least asked him where Warwick is?” Rain asked.
“Probably, but he wasn’t gonna tell us shit anyway.”
Chapter Twenty-five
He rolled on top of her and entered her in one thrust; moving in and out of her slowly as she arched her back. She rocked her hips in anticipation of each deep stroke. He squeezed her breasts, kissed her lips and she felt the river flowing freely from between her thighs.
“Fuck me, Daddy!”
“Say you love me,” he demanded as his strokes became harder.
“I love you, Daddy.”
“Say you love me.”
“I love you.”
With her eyes closed tightly, because it was feeling so good, she wrapped her legs around him and began slamming her body against his with everything she had. Her fingers dug into his back as he pushed himself deep inside her.
“It’s so deep, Daddy.”
“You like it deep, don’t you, baby?”
“Yes, Daddy! I love it when you go deep!” she cried. “You’re gonna make me come again!”
Suddenly, he flipped her over, so she was on top of him. He grabbed her ass and she rode him harder and faster. He was so deep inside her, hitting her spot that her body began to tremble. He took her fat juicy nipple into his mouth, and she ground her hips into him.
He pushed back furiously, and it felt so good to have him so deep inside of her. He felt the muscles inside her tighten around him as she screamed and rotated her hips. Her body began to quiver, and she let out a gut-wrenching scream.
“I love you, Sidney.”
“I love you too, Ed,” Sidney said.
The spent lovers laid there for a while, not speaking, staring up at the ceiling, and wondering if anything else in the world felt this good. After a while, Sidney kissed Ed on the cheek and rolled out of bed.
“I am going to take a shower. What time are we leaving to go back to New York?”
“When you’re ready,” he said and turned on the TV.
For the last three days, Ed Weather and his girlfriend Sidney Zavala had been at the Flagship Resort in Atlantic City. They stayed in one of the hotel’s ultra suites, which featured an elegant foyer with mosaic tile and a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Sidney loved it.
The pair left for AC right after they saw Black and Rain at Impressions. He had gone there to see Bobby to talk to him about the rumors that had been going around about him fucking Delicia. Ed Weather knew that there was nothing to it, but he wanted to talk to Bobby about it and some other more important matters. Sidney had heard that some of his people, people that Ed had trusted for years, were selling drugs.
What he should have done was talk to Black about it when he saw him, but he was scared. He was at Cynt’s the night that Black tortured and then executed Gary Banks, who, like everybody else, made a pledged not to sell drugs, which was rule number one to Black. Ed distinctly remembered these words.
“I consider selling drugs to be a serious threat to the stability and continuity of this organization.”
That’s what Black told his assembled captains that New Years Eve. In fact, Ed Weather was standing next to Banks when Bobby grabbed Banks and held his arms.
He flinched when Black suddenly hit Banks in the face the first time.
“Gary Banks.” Black hit him again and Ed was close enough to feel the blow. “You’re being charged with treason!” Black hit Banks again and then put Banks on trial. Ed Weather never forgot that night and feared that if he told Black about what Baxter, JoJo and Terry were doing, he would suffer the same fate as Banks.
After checking out of their suite, Ed Weather drove up the Garden State Parkway to I-95, went across the bridge and headed for home. When Ed and Sidney got to her place, they brought their stuff in the building. On the way up in the elevator, Sidney got close to Ed.
“I wanna do it again as soon as we get through the door,” she said and kissed him.
Once the elevator door opened, Ed grabbed their bags and rushed to get to her apartment. She fumbled with her keys in anticipation of what was to come. Sidney got the door opened and as soon as they were in, and without bothering to turn on the lights, she threw herself into Ed’s arms.
“Tell me that you didn’t have anything to do with it.”
Ed broke his embrace with Sidney and started to go for his gun. He froze when he felt steel in the small of his back. He squinted and could see a man sitting in a chair.
