The students were practicing the controlled unfurling and retracting of their wings, a task that required immense focus and physical control. One by one, they would stretch their wings to their full span, feathers rustling softly, creating a gentle breeze that rippled across the room. The grace and beauty of the movements were mesmerizing, yet the sheer power and strength clear in each pair of wings was daunting.

Kylie watched as one student, a young man with dark, almost raven-like wings, struggled to maintain control. His wings trembled with the effort, the feathers quivering as he tried to hold them fully extended. This exercise was not just a physical challenge, but an emotional and mental one as well.

An instructor, a tall figure with an air of quiet authority, moved among the students, offering guidance and encouragement. His own wings, a majestic span of silver and gold, were kept neatly folded, yet his presence commanded respect and admiration.

Kylie felt a twinge of apprehension at the thought of joining such a class. The discipline and strength required made her anxious about facing this aspect of her training. The sight of the students, so in tune with their angelic nature, brought out her insecurities.

With a deep breath, Kylie stepped away from the classroom, her resolve strengthened, yet her mind swirling with questions and doubts. The path ahead was daunting, but she knew it was hers to walk and felt the weight of her destiny pressing upon her. She was about to embark on a journey of self-discovery and training that would test her in ways she couldn't yet imagine.

Kylie strode out the main door and got into her truck. Only then did she open the folder and flip through the papers. She found a map that showed where students should park and a side door that would lead her to her room. She cranked the engine and drove slowly to the designated lot, steeling herself for what lay ahead.

College life. Oh, joy. Just don't flunk out, Kylie.

She reminded herself that the Night Academy was more than just a school—it was the forge in which her true self would be shaped and tempered.
