Luo Xiao was standing at the entrance to the Cloudsoar Academy, looking at the many students who were exiting, on their way home for vacation, or perhaps out to gain some combat experience.
There were also those students who were staying in the capital for the sake of attracting the attention of their preferred factions, but all in all, the academy would be closed for a few months to give the students some well-deserved vacation.
Luo Xiao had spent the last couple of days within Jiang Yao's palace, being pampered and indulged. Anything he had wanted, he had been given, and even many things that he had never thought about before were presented to him.
Many of these items were spiritual energy items, such as spiritual fruits, herbs, and the like. Although he felt slightly bad about taking them, he knew that Jiang Yao was spoiling him, and that the demon prince would feel troubled if he had not accepted them.
Jiang Yao was an infatuated ruler. During these few days, he had spent at least a whole day in bed, just hugging Luo Xiao, chatting with him, kissing him, hugging him, and indulging in the sweetness of having his lover close to him.
If it wasn't because Luo Xiao had eventually turned so crimson and embarrassed, he was sure that Jiang Yao would have gone even further.
After a bit of time, Luo Xiao realized that although it was Jiang Yao who had suggested they went on a trip, he was the one who was most reluctant to part with their comfortable and very intimate lifestyle, but after hearing the reminder about the Moon Anise, Jiang Yao finally decided on the departure date.
And thus, this day had finally arrived. Luo Xiao had left the prince's palace a few hours before to pack up a few things from the accommodation he had within the Academy.
Now that the hours had passed, he had previously planned to meet with Jiang Yao o
Initially, he was hiding their relationship because of fear for what Jiang Luo would do to him. Still, now the Fourth Demon Prince was already aware of their relationship, so hiding it seemed pointless.
While he waited, he saw the happy faces of the students, all were happy to go on a vacation, and the mood was joyful. Luo Xiao was also unable to stop the corners of his lips from curling upwards in a hopeful smile.
He could still remember the days they had been on the road towards Cloudsoar City. Their first kiss, their nights together in the caravans, the days on the streets.
All of it was sweet memories to him, and he was eager to get new ones. Although he did not dislike the days at the academy, he had to admit that he was looking forward to the days on the road. There he and Jiang Yao would be together every day and every hour.
Although he was too embarrassed to say it to Jiang Yao, he was excited. Not far away, the Seventh Demon Prince was arriving. He was not flying as he usually would but walking on his feet. Even so, his bearing and atmosphere were so oppressive and overbearing that no one dared to approach him; all they did was to observe him with reverence.
What was the Seventh Demon Prince doing here? Many of the regular students were unaware of the relationship between Jiang Yao and Luo Xiao. Still, when they saw the smile filled with tenderness as the cold and callous demon prince was looking at the younger man, they instantly understood.
And then they were filled with shock. Luo Xiao and Jiang Yao? This... Was this real?
Completely ignoring the many people's completely stunned expressions, Jiang Yao dragged Luo Xiao into his embrace and placed a kiss on the top of his hair.
"Shall we go?" he asked. He was completely ignoring the many people who were observing them, thinking that they had no importance to them. Even if they knew that Luo Xiao was his lover, what could they do about it? All his enemies already knew. So, there was nothing to hide any longer.
Instead, he wanted to shout to the entire world that Luo Xiao was his. This beautiful little boy was his lover, not just anyone. The pride in his heart was so intense that Luo Xiao blushed furiously.
"How can you still be so shy?" Jiang Yao chuckled when he saw his appearance, but he released the young boy and grasped his hand in his.
Together the two started strolling down the roads of the capital city, although they were amongst a crowd, they acted as if they were in their own little world, and because of the fact that one of these people was Jiang Yao, no one dared to be in their way.
The roads were bustling with life, hawkers and merchants were standing all around yelling out prices for their wares. Some sold food, while others sold various miscellaneous items.
Jiang Yao was immensely familiar with these streets and the merchants, but because of the assassination attempt last time, Luo Xiao had not been going out much within the Cloudsoar City itself. Most of his time was spent in the academy or within the prince's palace.
Everyone within the city knew of Jiang Yao, so seeing him walk with a young boy hand in hand, they were shocked.
Who was this youngster? How could he possibly be so close to the dangerous seventh prince?
Chapter 2 – The Three Princes
Everyone who saw this sight was filled with shock and disbelief. The famous Seventh Demon Prince had not liked women but was into tender young men?
If they had given him a young man, would he have said yes, since he usually disregarded the women that were sent to him?
What they did not know was that Jiang Yao was in love. He was not with Luo Xiao because his taste was tender young boys, but because it was Luo Xiao.
Usually, he would never have paid attention to others, but this youngster had caught not only his attention when they met the first time, but also his heart.
Having fallen in love, he was not willing to let go, and he was proud of his Xiaoxiao, so even when he held his hand like this, a smile was evident on his lips; a smile filled with pride.
Luo Xiao was embarrassed. He had never thought that Jiang Yao would hold his hand like this, but since he had decided to be with Jiang Yao, he would slowly grow up and become a person that could stand by his side. A person who could protect his loved ones.
He would never not admit that he was Jiang Yao's lover, it was something he took pride in, albeit it made him very embarrassed to say so.
While they were walking, a figure was standing in the shadows of one of the buildings. He was observing the two leaving together, his brows furrowed, and his face scrunched up in displeasure.
This person was Jiang Bai. He had always looked up to Jiang Yao the most, and when he saw Luo Xiao, he felt that this youngster was not worthy of his older brother.
Yet now, when he saw them walk hand in hand, he felt empty in his heart. It was as if someone had carved a hole in his chest and taken out his heart, leaving a bleeding wound and aching gap.
Jiang Bai was not dumb. By now, he was fully aware of his emotions for the younger boy, and he was uncomfortable about it.
What was he supposed to do with these feelings? When he looked at Luo Xiao and Jiang Yao, he could see the adoration in both their faces. When he saw them hold hands like this, he could see their love for one another.
He was not so cheap as to try and go in between a loving couple, but he was still unable to hold back the strange feelings that were welling up within him.
He partly hoped that Jiang Yao would do something to let Luo Xiao down, so that Luo Xiao would leave him, maybe even become Jiang Bai's new lover.
Having that thought, Jiang Bai scoffed at himself. As if Jiang Yao would ever mistreat Luo Xiao.
He then impatiently turned around, unwilling to see any more of their public display of affection.
He hoped that they would be safe on their trip, but he was not in a mood to think about what might happen between them while they were gone.
Shaking his head, he left in giant strides.
It was not only Jiang Bai who had come to see Luo Xiao and Jiang Yao off, but Jiang Luo was also present. His eyes were deep and filled with contemplation as he glanced at the retreating Jiang Bai. Was this little brother of his perhaps also had an interest in the human toy by Jiang Yao's side?
Now was not the time to act, but when Luo Xiao and Jiang Yao returned, he might be able to use Jiang Bai to cause problems if they returned.
A sinister smile spread on Jiang Luo's face. He was going to give it his all that they did not return.
By the time Jiang Yao and Luo Xiao had left Cloudsoar City, everyone was gossiping about them. In the academy, the students were aware of who Luo Xiao's backer was, and they were feeling horrified.
Luo Xiao had pretended to be normal, but in fact, he was anything but ordinary.
The only one who was not shocked was Jin Chuan, she was already aware of the relationship between the two, but she was slightly surprised that Jiang Yao was so much in love.
In fact, she had never seen Jiang Yao before, so she only knew him from the rumors. However now it seemed that he was not at all like the rumors said.
Whenever it had to do with Luo Xiao, he was so normal. He was filled with jealousy, love, and adoration.
Luo Xiao and Jiang Yao were well aware that their acts would shock many people, but they honestly did not care. They were together and wanted to announce it to the world. So, what if others did not agree, they could do nothing about it.
As they had walked through the capital, Jiang Yao had bought a myriad of sweets that he had dumped in Luo Xiao's arms. They were so full that he could hardly see anything.
Finally, he placed them in his storage pouch, and then he felt a bit of excitement rush in his heart. He was about to go out adventuring again.
"We are going to a city not far from Cloudsoar City," Jiang Yao explained. "This city is called Mercenary City, and it consists mainly of mercenaries. Here most caravans appear to hire mercenaries to protect them on their journey. We will buy a slot in one of these upscale caravans and travel with them."
Luo Xiao nodded his head. Although Jiang Yao could bring him alongside while flying, it was exhausting, and it would require a lot of effort. This way was much more straightforward.
Chapter 3 – Mercenary Town
The scent of green bean soup and scallion pancakes wafted in the air as Luo Xiao, and Jiang Yao walked past a stall selling the snacks.
