“The thing is, here, there are no rules.” Dane stated.

“That is not quite true,” Drake said. “There are a lot of rules in this world. The difference is, other than laws, you get to choose which rules you follow and which ones you don’t.”

“And just like in your world, if you break a rule there are consequences,” Ross stated. “For example,” he walked to the front of the room. “There is a rule that states if the stove is hot don’t put your hands on it. If you do touch the stove while it is hot, you will get burned.”

“Why would one want to put their hands on a hot stove?” One of the young children asked.

“Because they have something called free will,” Monty explained. “Free will allows you to decide what you will or will not do.”

“I see you are all confused,” Genesis stepped in. “We will stop the discussion for now. What you all need to know is that Monty,” she pointed to him, “is here to help each of you with your new life.”

“We will not be returned to the facility?” Beatrice asked.

“I’m afraid not,” Parker replied. “The facility was destroyed by fire.”

“However,” Genesis interceded again. “Each of you will stay together until you are ready to move to a new home. We apologize for the interruption. Please continue with your lesson.” She pointed each of the visitors towards the door.

  “I’m staying here,” Dane advised.

“I’ll stay with him,” Drake added.

“That’s fine, but first, I need to have a word with each of you.” Genesis stated as she walked out of the room.

“Slow it down people.” She spoke. “The siblings cannot be taken too far too fast. You understand what I mean? They may not show emotions, but they do have feelings. And I’m telling you the things you are saying are frightening to them. Talk about free will and a new life has to be introduced slowly. You may answer their questions, but please keep in mind, much of what you say or do will be new to them.”

“Dane, it seems you have a connection with some of them,” Rachel nodded in agreement. “It's a good idea for you to stay and reconnect with the women. Drake you are closer to the age of the children.”

Drake frowned. “They are ten years old.”

Rachel nodded. “Yes, like I said, you are closer to their age. They will be more open to you. I suggest you start with music.”

“It is the universal language,” Dane nodded.

“Slowly introduce them to a song. Please make it something happy.” Rachel suggested. “Nothing talking about men and women getting busy.”

Drake pulled out his phone. When she made the statement, he looked at Ross. “Maybe I better use your phone.”

The small group smiled as Genesis spoke. “Whatever way you connect, keep it slow. One thing at a time. Understood?”

“Understood,” Dane nodded then walked back into the room with Drake.

The others walked to the last classroom. This classroom consisted of the age group of fifteen. There were ten children in this room with two teachers. Their appearance, while wearing the same tan khakis and white shirt, was different. These children all had on suit jackets, the boys wore ties while the girls had white shirts buttoned up to the top and a navy blazer. They all looked like young politicians.

As Monty, Rachel, Ross, Genesis, and Parker walked into the room. They all stood and turned to face them.

“This is a good opportunity to demonstrate your skill sets,” One of the teachers stated. “Each of you take a moment to introduce yourselves as you have been instructed to do.”

To their surprise all of them stood as if they were in a receiving line. The first child held out her hand as she walked over to them.

“My name is Karina. I am being trained in several languages to serve as a clerk in the office of foreign affairs.” She shook Genesis’ hand then moved on to Parker.

  The second child spoke.

“Good afternoon. My name is Letha. I am being trained in the legal aspects of advocacy. I will work as an assistant to a congressman upon completing my training.”

The third child spoke. “Good afternoon. My name is Messiah. I have been honored with being selected to run for a Senate seat once my training is complete.”

The fourth child. “Good afternoon. My name is Nolan. I’m being trained in all aspects of the law. Upon the completion of my training, I will be a clerk for one of our Chief Justices.”

The fifth child spoke. “Good afternoon, sir. My name is Overton. I am being trained to work as an advisor to the president of the United States.”

This statement raised Monty’s curiosity. “What exactly will you be advising the president on?”

“All aspects of our moral compass.”

  “According to who?” Ross questioned.

“The teachings of our supreme leader, of course.”

“Of course,” Ross nodded, then glanced at Monty.

The sixth child, “Good afternoon. My name is Peter. I am being trained to be an aide to the joint chief of staff. I am well versed in military maneuvers and placement throughout several countries.”

The seventh child, “Good afternoon. My name is Quentin. I am being trained to work as a clerk in our federal judiciary system.”

Child number eight, “Good afternoon. My name is Roman. I am well versed in telecommunications. I will be placed in the communication center at the White House.”

The ninth child, “Good afternoon. My name is Simon. I am pleased to be selected to work with the Department of Education to ensure the true history of the country is ingrained in all of its children.”

The tenth child, “Good afternoon. My name is Theresa. I am trained in all financial matters including trading. Upon completion of my training, I will serve as a clerk with the Department of Treasury.”

“You have an impressive group of young men and women..” Monty stated.

“With very distinct aspirations,” Parker added.

“I’m curious,” Genesis stepped forward. “How was the profession of each child selected?”

“Our leader assesses each child then places them in the appropriate field of interest.”

“I see. The children do not have a say in the selection?” Genesis questioned.

“No. They are placed where they are needed to ensure our way of life is adhered to by as many people as possible.”

“What if your way of life is not wanted by others?” Parker asked.

“It will not matter. The morality of our country is at stake. As you can see, each of our children is trained in fields of expertise of positions that make, monitor, and administer the laws of the country. They will have no option but to comply.”

Monty, Ross, Parker, Rachel, and Genesis stared at each other.

“Very well,” Genesis smiled. “Please carry on.”

They stepped out of the room closing the door behind them.

“We need to sit down and determine how many S.I.B.s have been disbursed into society.” Parker stated. “We need to know who they are and where they are currently located.”

“It sounds as if Chambers is infiltrating our higher level of government with people who are intent on forcing their moral beliefs on others.” Genesis stated, then asked. “Is that what you all got from that conversation?”

“That's exactly what I got,” Parker stated. “That's why it's important to know exactly how many people he has placed in our government, what offices they are in and who they are reporting to.”

“We also need to ensure that the ones that we have control of here are reprogrammed now.” Rachel stated. “I'm not crazy about that word, but it needs to be done. I was under the impression that where were seventy-five children. So far only forty-seven are accounted for in the classrooms. Where are the others?'

"They are taught in shifts," Genesis explained.

"I see," Rachel nodded then continued, "I have to say this sounds eerily like what is happening in Richmond right now.”

“What do you mean what's happening in Richmond?” Genesis asked.

Rachel hesitated as she glanced at Monty. “I don’t think I am at liberty to say. I think you need to go upstairs and talk to Sapphire and/or Skylar. They need to hear this right away.”

“Based on what I just heard, I think we need to be talking to someone a little higher.” Parker stated. “It sounds as if they are planning to take over the government from the inside.”

“That is exactly what they are planning,” Monty stated. “The teachers in that room do not realize what is so wrong with what they just explained to us. Which means, those who are already in place, do not understand the danger of their words.”

“You mean they do not understand they are being trained to take over the government.” Parker stated as he looked at Genesis. “We have an obligation to report this.”

“What exactly is it that you want to report, Agent Anderson?” Genesis questioned. “That a group of women and children are planning to overthrow the government. Tell me what proof do we have? All we have thus far is the lessons of these few teachers."

“What do you suggest? We do nothing based on what we just heard from these people.” The tone of Parker's voice was clear, he did not like what he was hearing.

“You have a mistrust of these people; however, I have been around them. These people are only saying what they have been instructed to say. They do not know any better. We have an opportunity here to take those that we have and teach them better. I do not suggest that we do nothing, the question is what do we do and who do we take this to?”

Rachel took a deep breath to calm herself. “As I said before, Sapphire is right around the corner. I am telling you, she is the person you need to discuss this with. And if you don't I will,” Rachel stated as she turned to walk into the area where the offices were located.

  Chapter 21

“Mr. Tyson, thank you for agreeing to meet with us. I know we are strangers to you,” Amber started, “and we are about to ask you some very personal questions. Please understand, it is imperative that we get answers to these questions.”

  Wade nodded in understanding.

“Skylar indicated to me that there was an attempt to use this serum on Rachel. However, she did not indicate there was an attempt to use it on you. How do you know you are immune to the serum?”

“Please call me Wade and the answer to your question is that I was injected with the serum. During the time that we were being held by Bradford III he attempted to use the serum on me.”

“Did you feel any impact at all?” Tylar inquired.

“Other than the needle breaking my skin, no.”

“What other things have you found yourself being immune to?” Amber asked.

Wade stared at them not knowing how much they knew about this situation. But he understood the importance of giving them the truth and as much information as he could. “They have not been able to penetrate my mind to read my thoughts.”

“Who has not been able to read your thoughts?” Tylar asked.

“None of the men sent by Bradford nor can my brothers.”

  “Your brothers?” Amber questioned.

“Yes, my brothers were a part of the original experiment that took place at Chambers Laboratories.”

“But you were not?” Tylar clarified.

  “No.”

“And you cannot read thoughts?” she asked.

  “No.”

Tylar sat back and thought for a moment. “Then the question remains, why does it impact others but does not impact you? Do you have any thoughts on that?”

Wade was at an impasse again. He did share this information with Skylar, but it was clear that she did not pass it on to her sister. The truth of the matter was simple, Tylar, the scientist, was going to need this information. “The serum was developed for me.” Wade stated.

Tylar and Amber sat forward. “What do you mean it was developed for you?” Tylar inquired.

Wade leaned forward, “The original serum was designed by my mother for me. It was administered to me at the age of three for reasons I am not ready to divulge at this time. The new version of the serum seems to be weaker than the original. That is why I believe it has no impact on me.”

Both women sat back taking that information into consideration. Tylar jumped up and began walking around as if in thought. She looked at Amber then at Wade. “Do you know the story of Henrietta Lacks?”

“Of course,” Amber shrugged. “Anyone in medicine knows the story of her cells and how those cells were used to develop vaccines including the most recent vaccine used for the pandemic.”

“Exactly,” Tylar pointed to her. "There was something in her cells that they could never identify that was able to help with cancer, and a number of different things. My point being there's something in his cells that is blocking the serum from being effective on him. I believe if we extract his blood, we may be able to find the key to counteract that serum.”

Amber stood. The two women began walking back and forth in the room talking to each other as if he was not there. Wade watched in awe as their minds seemed to be clicking with each other’s.

“There are times when we have to think outside of the box, and when it comes to scientists, that is what we do.” Tylar stated.

“If you say to me that the serum does not impact Wade and it did not impact his mother, I have to ask myself why.” Amber added.

“There is something in his DNA that protects him from this version of the serum.” Tylar surmised.

“Taking a sample of his blood could give us an answer.” Amber and Tylar both stopped walking.

They both stopped talking at the same time and turned to look at him.

“Wade, we're going to take some of your blood right now. Are you squeamish?” Tylar asked.

Wade began rolling up his shirt sleeve. “No, I am not squeamish which one of you is going to do the honors?”

“That would be me,” Amber replied as she pulled out her bag and prepared to draw his blood. “I have a state-of-the-art laboratory at my home. We can run these tests there.”

“Perfect. My lab at home, which is state of art also, it's set up for inventions not so much medical.”

“We have both. My husband has an invention lab that I think you are going to just love, and I have a medical laboratory. We can test this and come up with an antidote. Now the question, is how are we going to test it? Who are we going to test it on?”

They both turned to look at Wade.

Wade stood. “I'm game for just about anything but I am not going to be a guinea pig for this. Besides it doesn't work on me anyway, you're going to need someone else. I do have a suggestion.” He said as he rolled down his sleeve. “We have two men that we caught attempting to break into my home, I suggest we test it on them.”

“I don't know if I can do that. I took an oath to cause no harm to humans,” Amber stated.

“I didn't take that oath,” Tylar added. “I'll be happy to test it on them. Where can we find them?”

Monty walked through the door. “Wade we have a situation.”

Wade stood at the urgency of his statement. “What's going on?”

“You're going to need to join us, all of you should.”

They all walked downstairs to the office where Sapphire was working.

“Why are we not calling in the director,” Parker questioned as Wade walked through the door. “From what I heard, and you inferred, we have a group of citizens who are training individuals to infiltrate our government.”

“You have a group of women and children who are under the influence and control of a mad man,” Genesis countered.

“All the more reason to interrogate them. Not treat them like victims,” Parker stated.

“They are victims,” Monty countered. “Not one of them volunteered for this project. They were placed here by the Chambers'.”

“In addition, they are not conscious of the fact that what they are doing is wrong.” Genesis added.

“What exactly have they done?” Amber asked.

Sapphire explained. “According to Agent Parker the lessons in one of the classes…”

“Two of the classes,” Parker corrected.

“Two of the classes,” Sapphire stated, “the children are being taught ways to infiltrate the government. I agree with his assessment. With that said, the women and children do not know any better, nor are they the planners of the plot to infiltrate the government.” Parker started to say something, but Sapphire raised a hand to stop him. “I am not going to order those pregnant women and children be interrogated. However, they should be questioned more about their lessons.”

“I do not agree with this course of action,” Parker stated.

“Don’t agree…” Sapphire shrugged, “…don’t participate. Genesis, continue on the path you are taking. Gain their trust but gather as much intel as you can. Agent Parker, I understand your concern. For reasons I cannot disclose at this time I am going to request you do not share this information with anyone outside of this group. The Tysons have a personal connection with the siblings. Their view of things may not be as objective as yours. With your permission I will have a request made to Director Vance to have you temporarily assigned here with Special Agent Morgan. I realize this is not the normal chain of command used at the agency, however, I think we can all agree this is not a normal case.”

Parker hesitated, “Who exactly are you?”

Sapphire smirked. “If I tell you, I’ll have to kill you.”

Roc and Amber chuckled. “You are one of them now,” Amber hunched her shoulder.

“I never thought I would hear that from you.” Roc shook her head.

“She is a Lassiter,” Genesis huffed.

“I am a Lassiter, through and through. And the name is now enhanced. I’m now Lassiter-Palmer.” Sapphire stated.

“Are you married to LT Palmer, the mayor of Richmond?” Parker asked.

“I am,” Sapphire nodded with a newlywed smile. “Now, this new information means we are going to have to accelerate our search for Chambers and the serum.” Sapphire stated. “From what was gathered from the siblings, there may be some S.I.B.s who have already been placed in strategic positions within the government. We need to identify and extract them from those positions as expeditiously as possible.”
