“Can you come for me, baby? Come hard for me.”
He didn’t wait for an answer, reaching between them to run his fingers over her clit. It was exactly what she needed to send her over, him tumbling right after. The room spun, and the earth titled on its axis for a moment while hot lava seemed to flow over his already overheated flesh.
When it was over, they collapsed on the bed, her tucked into the crook of his arm. They didn’t speak as their breathing returned to normal, just enjoying the afterglow of some hot sex. It had been over a week for both of them, and they’d been needing this release.
Well, at least he had, and she’d seemed just as eager to get back into the…swing of things.
“I can order a pizza,” he offered. “Are you hungry?”
“I could eat.”
She could stay in the bedroom when the delivery guy came to the door, like usual. No one questioned Cooper ordering a large as they assumed he also ate it the next day, too.
Sitting up, he reached for his phone on the bedside table. He wasn’t a huge fan of cell phones, honestly. They seemed to go off at the most inconvenient moments with messages that could have waited. He preferred face-to-face contact, but maybe that just made him an old fart at thirty-four. Soon he’d be yelling at the neighborhood kids to get off his lawn. If he had one.
Normally, he kept it on silent, so he wasn’t surprised to see that during their romantic interlude he’d received a text message. He was, however, shocked to see who it was from. The text had been sent about fifteen minutes ago.
I’m here in your town. We need to talk. Can we meet? I’m at Tate’s.
Jane sat up as well, looking over his shoulder.
“Are you okay? You’ve been staring at your phone for a couple of minutes, not moving or talking.”
He had? He’d been lost in thought. This was a surprise, and an unwelcome one. What on earth could they even want? What were they doing here? They hadn’t spoken in almost two years.
“It’s a text message from Fiona. Apparently, she’s traveled all the way here to Winslow Heights from London. She wants to talk to me. She’s at Tate’s.”
“Who’s Fiona? Why does she want to talk to you?”
“Fiona is my ex-wife. And I have no clue what she wants.”
His ex had traveled four thousand miles, and it wasn’t for a casual chat to catch up. The last time they’d been in the same room with each other, she’d said that she never wanted to see him again for as long as she lived. If she was here…
People were putting on parkas in hell.

There are more secrets to uncover in Winslow Heights…
Having spent most of his adult life traveling the world, Cooper Winslow has finally returned home. While he’s happy to be settling back into small town life, he’s not looking to settle down any time soon. It’s far more enjoyable to keep his options open.
Jane Taylor’s marriage could only be described as one huge mistake. She’s older and hopefully far wiser now, and she’s taking an indefinite break from love and dating. Men always seem to come with trouble.
Despite their aversion to romance, Cooper and Jane find that they have nothing against indulging in some steamy carnal pleasures whenever they get the chance. Their clandestine affair has been going on for months, and the town truly doesn’t seem to realize what’s been going on under their very noses.
It’s all going smoothly until Cooper’s ex-wife and former brother-in-law show up in Winslow Heights unexpectedly. He hasn’t seen them in years, and frankly, never expected to. But when his brother-in-law vanishes under mysterious circumstances, Cooper and Jane are pulled into the investigation, working together to figure out what happened.
The more time they spend together – with their clothes on – the more they’re beginning to realize that they might actually feel something for each other. And that’s scarier than any mayhem or mystery in their little town.
