“Bullshit! It's mine, I've seen it before.”

Aeyser shook his head and pointed to the mark on his chest.

“No, she is mine, my partner. She has already initiated the mating by marking me as hers.”

Orhem looked closely at the scar, his eyes widening as he recognized it as a mating mark. Female seerpes wounded males on the chest to show them that they were interested in them, to test whether they were strong enough to fight for them.

“It's not true! She's not like us. That mark doesn't mean anything. She's still mine. I won't give in,” he shouted stubbornly, spitting on the ground in disgust.

Aeyser saw that Orhem would not accept his words.

“You’re lying, and only trying to trick me to keep that sweet-smelling female. But you will not succeed. I’m smarter than you, smarter than many males of his world. I will fight for her, you...”

However, Orhem did not have time to finish. For, as he shouted his intentions to keep that prey, Aeyser lunged at him, smashing his face with his claws.

Kill! thought Aeyser without ceasing to strike him. One punch after another, he sank his claws into Orhem’s flesh, enjoying the wails of pain that erupted from his throat. The smell of blood altered his mind even more, driving him into a state where he thought of only one thing: to finish off his enemy.

  CHAPTER 9

  Claudyem

She had to run away. Take advantage of the fact that the two aliens were beating each other to death to flee and return to her ship, but Claudyem was unable to take a step. She stood watching the battle with her mouth open and heart beating rapidly in her chest. It was hypnotic to watch them move, circling each other, trying to twist each other's tails, clawing, lunging forward as if to bite one another. They were two powerful beasts fighting to the death, beating, snapping their tails loudly until they made the ground rumble. The spectacle made her hair stand on end and made her want to curl into a ball to disappear, so that no one and nothing could find her.

She heard a shriek of pain, and it was that sound that moved her, bringing her out of her reverie.

“I have to get to my ship,” she said to herself before turning and fleeing without looking back. She needed to reach the vessel as soon as possible and launch an emergency call. She couldn't stay a day on this planet with giant, talking snakes who seemed to see her as prey. She definitely did not want to be eaten by one of them. She hadn't woken up that morning to become a damned cadaver.

Claudyem began to run with all her strength. All her muscles ached, and he felt a burning sensation in her sternum. She had hurt her ribs, although she hoped that none of them were broken because she had no idea how to heal them without a medical unit.

She touched her bracelet, activating her virtual husband. “X700, are you there?”

“Of course. Where would I be? On the moon?”

Claudyem felt like crying when she heard that familiar voice. It seemed like ages since she had last spoken to her virtual husband.

“Why didn't you intervene when I was attacked?” she asked him in turn, pouring out her anger and frustration at the situation she found herself in.

“Firstly, because you disconnected me, and secondly, because I don't have a body to face your enemies. Oh, and for your information, I think you've lost your way, my wife.”

Claudyem stopped dead in her tracks and kicked the ground angrily while breathing heavily. She was fit, but running through a jungle in horrendous heat after fighting two half-giant snake aliens had exhausted her.

“Damn,” she shrieked angrily as she saw that her quirky and irritating virtual companion was right.

“I told you, you must improve your sense of direction,” he replied in a mocking tone.

“Fuck you! Instead of complaining, why don't you do your job and locate the ship? Which way do I have to go?” She couldn't stay still for long, even though her whole body was bellowing that she needed a break. At any moment, those creatures could catch her, and she wasn't sure she would be able to face even one again.

“I would, if the ship were active; but in this way I can only...”

“Fuck off,” Claudyem interrupted him, letting out a sigh and ruffling her hair. Then she looked around carefully, trying to recognize something.

“I'm very sorry to disappoint you, my wife, but I can't give you a hard time or...”

“Don't finish that sentence! You know what I mean.”

His laughter irritated her. At what point did they hit that hopeless set of zeros and ones that were her personal computer?

“Which way do I go?” She muttered to herself, ignoring X700's laughter.

“Nowhere, because we are not alone.”

Her virtual husband's words surprised her, putting her on alert.

  “What do you...”

She felt something impact against her, lifting her off the ground. She shrieked the instant she lost control of her body and found herself floating, trapped in arms that held her around the waist.

She whirled around, trying to look back to see who was holding her captive, but she didn't need to - she recognized the voice of her catcher.

  “Ssshhh, mine, ssshhh female.”

Damn! shouted Claudyem in her mind, shuddering as she felt the caress of the male's tongue in her ear, as she heard his tone of voice, hissing, low, deep, intense...

“Breathe, my wife, you are about to faint.”

She wasn't the only one who heard X700, her attacker did too and let go of her in surprise.

Good for her, or maybe not, because she fell to the ground, giving her legs a good thump.

“Are you all right, my wife?”

“Fuck you!” shrieked Claudyem, crying in pain. She was exhausted, sore, bruised, and frustrated because she couldn't wipe out the planet she had landed on. If she escaped from that place, she would return to blow it up while she ate ice cream and watched the fireworks.

Who was she kidding? She had no idea if she was going to be able to run away; if she could...

“Ssshhh, male, voice. Ssshhh, kill you.”

She recognized that voice. She was sure of it. It was the first alien.

Claudyem looked back carefully, noticing how her whole body ached and that she had wounds on her knees and calves.

Bingo. It was the first male that had attacked her. Again, he had caught her.

  Fuck.

  CHAPTER 10

  Aeyser

Orhem was no match for Aeyser, who tore Orhem’s throat apart with his claws and made sure to finish him off, separating his head from his body and throwing it away. He would not allow Orhem to live, recover from his wounds, and then attack him in the future. A seerpes could heal despite suffering very serious injury; hatred was a feeling they had engraved in their souls, which moved the species to seek revenge, to destroy those who had harmed them. He knew that if he let Orhem live, he would come after him to end his life.

Aeyser hissed and gazed at the body of his enemy, which convulsed for a few seconds before succumbing to death. Orhem had brought his fate upon himself by daring to claim Aeyser’s female.

He turned around looking for his mate and hissed again, this time frustrated, when he saw that she was not behind him. As he fought, he kept an eye on her, but when he lunged for his enemy to finish him off once and for all, he had lost sight of her and she must have taken the opportunity to flee.

He smiled. Despite his frustration, he was very proud of her. She had stood up to another male; she had hurt him, and she was sneaky when she found the opportunity. Aeyser liked that she was a warrior who would stand up to any enemies who came her way. His world was dangerous and brutal, and, if it were otherwise, she would not survive.

He sniffed the air, sticking out his tongue, perceiving the aromas that were suspended. It didn't take him long to locate the source.

His female was trying to get to the point where he first encountered her. She was very intelligent.

Aeyser smiled, showing his fangs. He was turned on by her strength and intelligence; he was physically attracted to this female despite the fact that she was so different from him - so strange, yet at the same time exciting, strong, and determined.

He began to slide along the ground, throwing his body forward to move with more speed. He longed to hold her in his arms again, to embrace her, to feel her warmth, to smell her sweet fragrance, and to carry her to his nest so he could claim her.

He had to fight against all his might to keep from getting excited and releasing his cock at the thought of claiming his partner. The wait was going to be difficult but it would be worth it.

  He was sure of it.

  CHAPTER 11

  Aeyser

The journey to reach his mate didn't take long. Aeyser smiled when he saw her a few meters away from him, hitting the ground with those appendages she had. He found it amusing, but he would have to teach her that, in the jungle, she should not make so much noise unless she wanted to become a meal. He was eager to teach her everything he knew so that she would be able to survive in his world, show her his lands and provide his mate with weapons to wield so as to defend herself - although she wouldn't need much, as he would make sure to stay close to her at all times to protect her.

Aeyser stretched out his arms and grabbed her waist, lifting his mate off the ground. He closed his eyes as he rested his face in the female's hair. He breathed in sharply and inhaled her scent, feeling relaxed and aroused. He felt thirsty, as if he had never drunk in his entire life. He needed her. With every minute he spent by her side, her fragrance, her warmth, her voice, her strange appearance was burned into his mind, into his hearts, into his soul.

“I found you. You are mine, my female,” he whispered in a hoarse voice, feeling like the luckiest male in his world.

He was about to growl when he smelled blood. Orhem had hurt her. He felt like going back for that fucker and tearing his body apart until there was nothing left, but it was an absurd desire that would not help his female.

It was necessary to take her back to his nest as soon as possible so that she could rest, heal her wounds and...

Yes, he wanted to claim her, but he would have to wait. Now that he had found his mate - well, rather, she had found him, branding him on the chest, showing the world that she belonged to him - she would be his priority, always.

He would put her before everything, even his own desire.

Aeyser tensed at the sound of a male's voice speaking to his mate. He looked around. They were alone, but he could hear that voice.

His whole body went into battle mode, preparing to fight another rival for his female. Even if he couldn't see him, he could hear him, and that made him very upset and worried. He didn't know of any male that managed to blend in with the environment in this way, but he couldn't rule out the possibility. In his world, there were seerpes capable of varying the tone of their scales, although they always ended up being discovered because they could not hide their scent.

His female's scream startled and worried him. Why was she screeching? Why did she smell salty? Was that male threatening her?

“Show yourself, coward! I will not allow you near my female. Face me. I'm going to kill you.”

He would defend his partner until the very end.

  CHAPTER 12

  Claudyem

X700's laughter echoed loudly in the silence that followed the alien's threat.

Claudyem wanted to bang her head against something out of frustration or, rather, for her virtual husband to have a body to beat for her to make it shut the hell up. Couldn't he see that he was enraging the alien who was holding her prisoner?

“Shut up, asshole! You're making him mad,” she yelled at him, trying to move a hand to shut him down; if he wasn't going to help her locate the ship, it would be best to disconnect him before he got her into more trouble.

  “Why? It's funny.”

“Funny, my ass; the one he's got hanging in the air is me.”

  “And that makes you horny.”

X700's words took her by surprise and she nearly choked on her own saliva.

Was she excited to be so close to the alien? In whose mind was that possible? What she felt was tired, worried, sore, wanting to blow up that damn planet and forget everything. She didn't feel excited about anything or anyone, least of all a hissing, half-reptile alien with a big snake tail.

  “Ssshhh, male, ssshhh, fight.”

The alien's voice brought her back to reality, and she turned back, meeting his enraged face.

He looked at her and smiled, stroking her cheek with his long-forked tongue, something that sent a shiver through her from head to toe.

It should have disgusted her, but that simple, strange caress upset her so much on an internal level that she didn't want to put a name to it.

“Ssshhh, mine, female, quiet, ssshhh, protect.”

Her translator was beginning to memorize the language, analyzing every hissing sound. It was a good thing that she had installed a high-quality system, otherwise she would have been unable to recognize a single word of that peculiar language.

“See? Thanks to me, you now have a knight with a shiny tail to protect you.” Again, X700 had to screw up with his words.

First, because it seemed to upset the alien to the extent that he began to move through the jungle as if he were being chased by a pack of imaginary predators; second, because Claudyem wanted to disconnect X700, put him in a ship and direct him into a black hole.

"Buy an assistant and you'll live better." Yeah, that damn ad should have read: "Buy a computer program that will think it's your virtual husband and you'll be sure to get into trouble and put your life at risk." Or, like Claudyem, end up directly in the arms of an alien who thought he was fighting an invisible enemy and who was now leading her into the jungle, away from her ship.

  CHAPTER 13

  Aeyser

He needed to get to his nest as soon as possible. Aeyser glided through the jungle he knew so well; this was his land, his domain, and he had memorized every tree, every rock, every small detail to catch the slightest of changes, so that any clue could indicate and alert him to the presence of another seerpes in his territory.

He advanced, attentive to the sounds and smells that reached him, because he did not want to be caught unawares by an enemy. His female was a beacon, and she gave off a sweet scent that was intoxicating. He would have to find a way to mask her scent so that no other male would be tempted to go after her.

He noticed how his mate stirred in his arms. He felt proud of her strength, but he could not stop, not when there was danger and they could be attacked at any moment. He had to get to his nest as soon as possible and talk to his female - he hoped to learn more of her strange language.

He had so many questions that he didn't even know where to begin. Where did she come from? Why did she choose him as her mate? Where did that male voice come from? Why did she run away from him after marking him as her breeding partner?

Quickly; faster, he thought nervously, moving swiftly across the floor, trying to make as little noise as possible.

He was anxious to get to his nest and begin to get to know his mate.

  CHAPTER 14

  Claudyem

She was fucked. No matter how hard she tried, she was not able to free herself from the arms that kept her imprisoned against the hot body of the alien-snake. And this one seemed to have gone crazy as it was rampaging through the jungle.

Claudyem snorted with derision as she reminded herself that the male didn't run, but glided, wagging his tail from side to side noiselessly. He was a damn silent ninja with a tail the size of a large hovercraft.

She stopped struggling and remained still, attentive to the sounds that surrounded them, like the chirping of what sounded like birds, the hissing of branches swaying in the wind...she could even swear she could hear the murmur of a stream of water. Perhaps they were near a river or a lake, she was not sure; but, without a doubt, what she heard most was the strange rumbling of the alien's heartbeat.

  Boom, boom, boom.

It was frankly bizarre - his heart was beating so fast that if he were human, he would be on the verge of a heart attack.

Why the hell am I thinking about his heart? she wondered, not quite voicing it out loud because of the ridiculousness of the situation.

She should devise a way to get away from it - again - though this time make sure to get to her ship and get it working. Instead, she was listening intently to the alien's heartbeat, resting her ear against his chest. The most coherent thing in the world. One point for her.

“Are you there?” she asked quietly, hoping that X700 would answer.

However, it was not her personal computer that did so, but the alien, who turned to gaze at her without pausing for a second.

  “Ssshhh, safe, ssshhh, my female.”

Her translator was analyzing every word, every syllable of that primitive language, learning, memorizing, and adapting as accurately as possible.

Should she be reassured by his words? No, definitely not. How could she trust this alien if she didn't know him?

She had landed on that planet; actually, she fell, hitting the ground like a baseball, and now she was stuck until she found a way to fix her ship. Maybe she could repair the command control and send a message to a friend of hers. But, in actuality, she didn't have many friends; they were more like acquaintances with whom she shared some business ties, but she hoped that one of them could help her, even if she had to pay for the trouble.

Claudyem sighed and averted her gaze, fixing it on the male's chest. His body was covered with scales, like a reptile, and she was tempted to run her hand over them, but she restrained herself. Despite the odd situation in which she found herself, she was fascinated by his body, so different from her own, as well as the strength in each of his movements, in the softness of his scales or the heat he gave off.
