Maybe what it comes down to is, I fall in love with my characters and don’t want to let them go. And I suspect some of my most dedicated readers (and I know there are at least a few of you) feel the same way and I thank you from the bottom of my well-intentioned little heart.
Seriously, I think there is no greater joy for an author than when she finds her readers. The ones who really get her and love her for what she writes, not what is expected. It’s rare. I’m a firm believer in if there is a book you want to read that hasn’t been written, then write it! Someone else wants that book too!
In case you can’t tell, I love what I’m writing. I love my characters. I love my books, perhaps a little too much. When I see that same passion reflected back at me, it’s overwhelmingly wonderful. I’m in enough author groups to know not every author is that lucky.
I like to think I write in a sweet spot for adventurous readers who still hold their heroes to higher standards than most “alpha whatever” books. I like my heroes crude and filthy but still respectful. I like practical, hard-working heroes. I’d rather stick a fork in my ear than write a billionaire romance.
Basically, this long, rambly thing I’m trying to say at this very close to my deadline time is, if this is the first Lost Kings MC book you’ve picked up, thank you! I hope you feel like you’re part of the LOKI family now! If you’ve hung out with me for 12 whole books and 4 short books, Thank You So Much! I’ll never get over the thrill of finding people who want to read the same thing I wanted to read when I started this journey. And if you were willing to step out of the MC and ventured on to my standalones, I love you even more. I love those characters too and that’s why they’ll still pop up here and there. I have quite a few new ones I want to get to as well. Some you’ve seen glimpses of along the way. I love leaving breadcrumbs all over the place.
It’s very loud inside my head.
But I am forever grateful that you let me share that noise with you.
