Heart of Shattered Glass, page 26
The best help would come from Jacquetta or Madam Valentin, but we were a long way from Bridgeton. When they finally got here, Gus needed them a lot more.
And I was a long way from the safety of my friends, and the kinds of things they really could assist me with.
Gus was in no position for me to even try and speak with her about anything, and Jacquetta was going to be the same until Gus was better.
No, I needed to do this on my own.
Even though I had never been more out of my depth to deal with something than I was right now.
But, first, I needed to get back into the cells, this time armed with a blade, and kill Brix before he could tell Tristan about me.
Tristan may have said he loved all of me, but that would cease to be true the minute he knew that all of me included the woman who hated him for so long, and so thoroughly, she was planning on killing him.
No one could really love an assassin. Especially if that assassin had their name on their list while they claimed to love them.
He could never find out.
Or I would lose everything.

A whole hearted thank you to Bean, the Rottens, and all of my friends and family. Again, huge thanks to Jupiter Alley and Krystal for their help in making this happen, Heather Cardona for all she does, Miblart for the gorgeous cover, Lucy at Jupiter Alley for the absolutely brilliant sigil covers for the interior of the hardcovers, as well as the team at Wishing Well.
One more thing, though, to all of the readers who have loved this series so far, especially those wonderful people who have gone out of their way and left me reviews, thank you.
I know it may seem as if the readers and the authors only connect in one direction, from the words in these books to you. But that isn’t true. You, the readers, buying our books, reading our books, loving our books, and even those hating them, mean the world to us. Every single person who reads our words feels like a hug from a friend.
We write these stories, sending out these messages into the void, and every now and then one of the readers sends some light back to us.
You, dear reader, are that light.
Thank you.
