“Hey Gina rise and …” she gasps and then smirks when she catches the two of us. Her eyes land right on Sam as she teasingly says, “Well hello, hello, what do we have here?”

Sam pretends to be embarrassed and says a quiet, “Hello.”

While he’s being polite to Tiffany, his hands which are under the covers are saying hello to my body which is making my head swim. I have to tell myself to breathe while I say to her, “What the hell Tiff. Can’t you knock?”

“Well I didn’t know you had company.”

I start to protest but Sam calmly responds, “I’m sorry. It was late and I wanted to see her so I texted her letting her know I was coming by and for her to meet me at the door. I didn’t want to wake you.”

He is putting the charm out in full force because Tiffany gets little flustered and stammers, “N-no that’s fine. Coffee will be ready in five and Diane will be here in an hour. She wants us to go to mall with her and Amber to help pick out an outfit to bury Stacy in. You want to come? I think Amber could use a day out of her room.”

  “Absolutely.”

“Okay. I’ll leave you two to, um, get up. But I’m sure Sam already has that covered.” She laughs and is about to leave when she suddenly shouts, “Holy shit, what the hell happened to your bed?”

I whisper, “Oh crap,” as I squeeze my eyes shut hoping she’d disappear. I forgot about the headboard and I can only imagine how much worse it must have looked after last night. But Sam is calm and collected and simply replies, “Don’t ask.”

She laughs and says, “Say no more. Go Sam.” And with a quick wave she was gone.

I let out a nervous laugh and say, “Sorry about that.”

  “It’s no problem.”

  “You didn’t hear her coming?”

He points to the window. “Sun’s beating on me. Even though it’s not direct sunlight, it still dulled my hearing. Besides, I was too focused on something more important remember?”

I blush and I start to kiss him again. I lightly touch the spot on my neck and ask, “So what was this for?”

“Just a test for myself. To see if I could do that without going crazy.” He sees my eyes grow wider and he says, “Don’t worry. If it wasn’t for the sun, I never would have done it.”

I smile as I say softly, “I have complete faith in you Sam. Like I said, you won’t hurt me.”

We lock into another kiss and I feel both our urges growing again. After a few minutes, he says, “If we keep going like this, you’ll never make it to the mall. Besides, I need to get out of the sun.”

“I’m sorry. I guess since you don’t burn up, I don’t think about it.”

He laughs as he asks, “Are you disappointed?”

I shake my head, as I reply, “Of course not I’m relieved. It’s just so weird that everything I’ve heard about vampires is not true.”

“Well only some of it. One thing that is definitely true for me at least is my feelings are that intense for you.” He looks me deep into my eyes as he says, “I have never wanted anything like the way I want you Gina. And I will never ever hurt you.”

I catch my breath as I say back, “I believe you Sam.”

He strokes my face as he murmurs, “You have no idea how special you are to me Gina. You have become my most precious prize that I can’t believe I’ve won. Do you believe that?”

I feel the depth of his words deep in my heart and I start to fully understand his feelings for me. I suddenly don’t feel so ordinary like I did when he first spoke to me. I start to feel like I’m something special to him.

I gently grab his face and I kiss him with determination, which lets him know I feel the exact same way he feels about me. I hear him growl and when we pull apart, I see his fangs through his parted mouth. I smile while he whispers, “We better get out the bed or your friends will be quite upset with us both.”

  “Yeah maybe you’re right.”

I want to stay with him all day but he is right so I finally start to get myself ready. I take a quick shower and return to my room to get dress where Sam is sitting on the bed watching me while I’m fixing my hair. After applying a little lip-gloss, I ask, “How do I look? Am I presentable?”

He is behind me now, “Are you kidding? You always look incredible.”

“I think your opinion is a little biased,” I chuckle.

He turns me around to face me so he can kiss my forehead and says, “Not a chance. You’re gorgeous and I’m not the only one who thinks so.”

I cock my head to the side and raise an eyebrow while I sarcastically respond, “Yeah right.”

“You doubt me? Remember, I’m the one who can read minds here. I was very curious about what other people thought when they saw you. I didn’t want to believe I was the only one that thought you were incredibly beautiful so I would take peeks at other men’s minds just to see what they would be thinking about you. And I was right because their thoughts nearly matched mine. But now that you’re mine, it’s pissing me off with what’s on their minds. I don’t like the fantasies they have about you.”

I look at him incredulously as I slowly ask, “You’re jealous on other men’s thoughts?”

  “Yes,” he answers quietly.

Part of me should have been creeped out but part of me is actually flattered. “Wow that is sweet and weird. Maybe you shouldn’t listen in on other people’s thoughts if it’s going to upset you.”

He laughs, “Yeah maybe you’re right.”

  “Come on, let’s go downstairs.”

When we reach the kitchen, Tiffany is finishing up a cup of coffee while reading the newspaper. She picks up her head when we enter and says smugly, “Well it’s about time. There’s a cup for each of you in the pot.”

“Thanks,” I say while pouring a cup.

She notices that Sam hasn’t made one move towards the coffee pot and based on her facial expression her curiosity is definitely brewing (no pun intended I swear). “How about you Sam? Do you want anything?”

He shakes his head as he says, “No I’m good thanks.”

I sit down and I’m about to take a sip when a car horn honks from outside. Tiffany jumps up and says, “Time to go. Diane’s waiting.”

“Are you kidding me? I didn’t even get to drink my coffee,” I whine.

“Too bad. Maybe you should have gotten off Sam a little quicker. By the way, nice hickey.”

My hand immediately brushes across the mark Sam left on my neck as I blush and say, “Um thanks.”

I try to get in a few sips but she yells from the living room, “Gina we gotta roll!”

I roll my eyes as I call out, “Fine I’m coming!”

“Okay I’ll be outside! Hey Sam, I think your friend is here too!”

She is out the door and I dump the coffee in the sink and clean out the coffee pot. When I’m done, Sam has my coat in his hand and he helps me put it on. I’m about to open the front door until he pulls me close to him and presses his lips to mine.

“Hmmm, what was that for,” I ask while wrapping my arms around his neck.

“Just saying goodbye and hope you have fun with your friends.”

I sigh. “Thanks. Will you miss me?”

That sexy slow growl is brewing in his throat as he replies, “You have no idea how much I’ll miss you.”

He kisses me again and I hear Diane honk the horn while Tiffany yells, “Come on Gina, we gotta go! You can ravish Sam later!”

I roll my eyes as I say, “I swear that girl has no patience.”

He opens the door and says, “Come on, you better get going before she comes in here and snatches you away.”

We step outside and I walk over to Diane’s car. I see Sam’s car at the end of the driveway and Evan waves to me from behind the wheel. I wave back and Diane says as I open the backdoor, “It’s about time. Were you two trying to sneak in a quickie?”

I blush as I reply, “We were just saying goodbye if you don’t mind.”

The girls giggle but Sam is right next to me and he says, “Hello ladies.”

I thought I was the only one Sam could affect but as he said hello, he stares at them intently. Amber appears flustered and she mumbles, “H-hey Sam.”

He smiles and then turns to me as he says, “Have fun but be careful. You’re holding my heart so guard it well.”

  “I will.”

He leans in for a final kiss and then he helps me in the car. I watch him walk to where Evan is waiting and the second he is in the car they both speed off. Diane gives me a wicked grin as she says, “Gina you are definitely a lucky girl. He is a piece of work aside from being incredibly cute. Sam is a keeper. By the way, nice hickey.”

Okay is everyone focusing on my neck today? “Thanks,” I mumble but smile from her words. Sam is something else and the best thing is he’s all mine.

  Guess Who’s Coming

  To Dinner

  (Sam)

It is making me anxious to leave Gina but I want her to have the freedom to be with her friends without me tailing her every move. But that didn’t stop me from doing something nice for her. Although the girls are shopping for Stacy, I figured they’ll still squeeze in some shopping for themselves and I want Gina to spoil herself by letting me treat her. So since I’m not with her, I decided to slip her some cash so she can shop till she drops on me. I just wish I could see her face when she finds the wad of cash I left for her in her jacket pocket. I know she will scrunch up her face and start fussing and if I was with her and I’m sure she would have given me an earful. But since I’m not I’m know my phone will ring soon. I’m still anxious being away from her though and the need to have Gina close to me increases by the second but I keep telling myself that I have to give her space. But with all the dangers that can be out there I want to follow her to make sure she will be alright but I can’t. Aside from trying to be a good boyfriend and not shadow her, I’ve been in the sun too long and my eyes are turning blacker by the second. I have to sleep so I can be myself again.

Sure enough I feel my phone vibrate and I don’t need to look at the id to know it is Gina. “Hello,” I answer in an innocent voice.

“Sam, I found something in my pocket.”

“Really? What did you find,” I ask and I glance at Evan out of the corner of my eye where I notice him trying not to laugh out loud.

“Um, five thousand dollars is what I found.”

I didn’t even count how much I left her; I just pulled some bills from my wallet and stuffed them away in her jacket pocket. I grin as I say, “Well now you know that any money you find you have to spend it on something fun.” She is about to argue but I cut her off. “Just don’t worry and enjoy yourself. What’s mine is yours. I love you.” I hang up before she can argue further.

“You gave her five thousand dollars,” Evan asks while not being that shocked. He then shakes his head while he says in an upbeat manner, “You and your brother both know how to spoil your ladies.”

“Yes but remember my reasons for doing it are totally different from Charlie’s. I want Gina to spoil herself.”

“True and Charlie is just looking to get in women’s pants. How does he do it?”

“I honestly have no idea,” I respond with a laugh.

I’m grateful that we’re home thanks to Evan’s speed racer driving. The sun seems to have gotten brighter and I groan as I get out the car. I am too weak to quickly get inside so I have to walk at a normal pace. How boring. I wouldn’t have been this weak if it wasn’t for the fact that I haven’t hunted since the New Year began.

Charlie is waiting in my room and checking that all the windows that are heavily tinted are shut. Without turning around he asks, “How long were you outside?”

“It wasn’t from being outside. The sun rises right into Gina’s room and onto her bed.”

He smirks as he asks, “Why didn’t you move?”

I shrug. “I was too busy watching her to really pay attention.”

“Sam, you have to be smarter than that. If it’s directly on you then you have to move.” He lets out a sigh as he adds, “And laying that close to her wasn’t one of your best ideas. What if your thirst kicked in? Gina is right there next to you and nothing would have stopped you from…”

“I know,” I say quietly as I cut him off. I hate these moments where he reminds me that he is my big brother and he feels he has to constantly look out for me. Reminding me what would have occurred if Gina didn’t have to meet her friends sickens me and I conclude it was stupid for me to bite her even if it was only for a few seconds. Her blood was delicious and if it wasn’t for the sun then I…

“Sam stop beating yourself up,” Charlie says in a light tone. “Gina is still alive and that’s all that matters.”

“Yes Charlie you’re right,” I say absently as my thoughts begin to drift back to last night.

He senses something is troubling me and he walks over to me. He studies me carefully as he asks, “Sam what is it? Did something else happen?”

I pause debating whether I should tell him about our conversation but I could use his advice on this. I stare at while as I reply, “Charlie, she wants me to turn her.”

“Are you sure?” I nod and he smiles. “Now that vision is making sense. I saw her clearly as a vampire.”

I stare at him in shock as I murmur, “You saw her as a vampire?”

“Yes and let me tell you she is even more beautiful when she turns. You’re a lucky man Sam.”

“Then you see me successfully being able to change her or was it done by someone else,” I ask adding a little acid in my tone on the last part.

He cocks a smirk as he says, “Sam she’s not going to let anyone else do it.”

  “How can you be sure?”

Charlie rolls his eyes as he replies, “Because I witnessed the argument you both had when you brought it up. Gina is set on her decision and she’ll only want you to be the one to turn her. Trust me on this one don’t go there. That is one vision I won’t be offended if it is changed. Boy Gina has a mouth on her. The language she used made nearly made my ears bleed.”

I absorb his words as I stare off at nothing. So I’m able to do it? I will be able to change Gina? I shake my head at the how part because I know that is impossible. That little drop I tasted this morning had the venom in my system going crazy and good thing the sun made me weak so it kept my fangs from fully coming out. I had imagined what more of her blood would taste like and I cringe at the thought of me continuing to drink her blood. I couldn’t believe that I even entertained the thought…

“I guess that doorknob will have to be replaced,” Charlie says which snaps me out of my train of thought. I look at my left hand and see that I squeezed the knob so hard that it looks like a crumbled piece of gold paper. “Sam, relax. We’ll work on this. I will help you so when she’s ready, you will be too. I got your back Sam.”

  “Thank you brother.”

“Now come on and lie down. You need to sleep and then hunt before Gina gets here.”

“You’ll help me with that right?”

He smiles as he says, “I know you’re not looking forward to it but it’s the right thing to do. I’ll make sure no humans are around when we go out later.”

  “Thank you.”

He is right; feeding only on donated or animal blood is not something I’m going to like but it doesn’t matter. I’m doing this for Gina. I’m sure it bothers her that I feed on humans so I will make the sacrifice to make her happy.

My brother helps me get in the bed and once all the windows are secured, he says, “Sleep tight. Hope there isn’t any bed bugs that are stupid enough to bite.”

I laugh and say, “Close the door already.”

Hours later, I’m returning from my “animal only” hunting trip and just as I thought, I am cranky. It wasn’t really that bad but there’s nothing like human blood to truly satisfy my thirst. But I made this choice so I’ll just have to deal with it.

“Now was that so bad right,” Charlie asks and I respond with a growl. “Fuss all you want but you know it wasn’t that bad.”

“Yeah right. I don’t mind having it occasionally but it’s going to take getting use to have it all the time now.”

“You’ll do fine. Besides, your first target should have been quite satisfying.”

I smirk as I nod my head in agreement. When I woke up from my sleep, Evan had found the wolf that nearly attacked Gina lurking about in the woods and I thought what a perfect way to start my new diet. I tried to track it before but was unable to locate it but when I went to where Evan spotted it, I growled with excitement for the payback. I even chuckled when it looks at me in a way where I swore it recognized me. But knowing that it will never have the chance to attack another human again made me happy and I enjoyed my non-human meal a little more.

We reach the house and I decide to kill time by watching TV. Gina had texted me saying that she would be here in another half hour so instead of pacing and driving everyone crazy, I switch the TV on and search for something to watch. I figured there is nothing wrong with mindless television to occupy my mind for a while.

Of course that wouldn’t happen. Joseph rushes in and I stand up quickly when I feel his state of panic. The others also rush into the living room when they also sense is anxiety and we gather around to find out what has him so agitated. It’s a regular meeting of the vampires.
