part #2 of Healing Hands Series
“Oh my gosh!” she squeals. “Mini-golf! I haven’t done that since I was a kid.”
I nod.
“Yep, and that’s not it, sweetheart. There are also go-karts, batting cages, and a driving range if you want to take a couple swings. You ready to relieve some stress?”
She laughs and my heart expands in my chest.
“Yeah, let’s hit up the batting cages.”
I mock frown.
“You’re not about to get all violent on me are you?”
She winks.
“What else are batting cages for? Unless you’re ready to give me another dose of Face Time, I think I definitely need to whack some balls.”
Holy shit. This girl is perfect for me, and I adore her feisty, sassy ways. Shit, I’m even semi-hard already, right here in public. But it’s not an opportune moment, so instead, we make our way to the indoor diamond, and I fill up a game card with enough to last us the night. It’s a Friday, so there are a bunch of people milling around waiting for their turn. Chloe and I pick our bats, and she dons a helmet with a cheeky grin.
“Did you ever play sports as a kid?” I ask. “You look like a natural.”
She laughs.
“Yeah, our parents put us in every sport imaginable. I played softball for a while, but I gave it up in high school because there were too many other extracurriculars. How about you?”
“Nah,” I say. “I was never coordinated enough.”
She winks.
“Well, I guess I’ll be kicking your butt, then.”
I’m about to slap her bottom, but then the people ahead of us finish and we’re up. Chloe doesn’t hesitate. She selects the fastest speed on machine and starts whacking away like a pro. Holy shit. She’s really good and is basically slamming homers into left field. Even some random guys stop to watch, marveling at the curvy girl and her skills.
“Your turn,” she finishes with a cheeky grin. “You have to do the same speed,” she adds with a devious look in her eyes. Oh fuck.
When it’s my turn in the cage, I hit exactly one pitch, and it goes behind me instead of forward, making Chloe shriek. She only counts it because she feels bad for me and giggles like a madman.
“Wow, you really are bad,” she says.
“I’ll show you what bad is,” I growl, playfully swatting her bottom. She squeals and then straightens.
“Are you any better at go-karting?” she asks.
The line for go karts is surprisingly short and pretty soon, we’re ready to go. Chloe’s got a pink car and I grab the blue one right behind her. The vehicles start out slow, but as soon as everyone is on the track, we start hitting the accelerator.
I speed around Chloe immediately. She tries to keep up, but my car is faster and I’m better in the turns.
By the time the race is over, I’ve lapped Chloe and everyone else on the track. She giggles as we climb out of our vehicles.
“So we’re tied now,” she says. “I won at the batting cages and you won driving. What should we do now?”
“How about mini golf?” I suggest. I’m terrible, to be honest, but it’ll give us time to chat, and you know what? I’d love to talk with the curvy girl more. She’s got so many interesting facets, and I want to explore every one.
“Sure thing,” she grins.
Choe chooses a pink ball and I go for blue for the sake of consistency, and then we get in line to play. When it’s finally our turn, Chloe goes first. She hits a near perfect shot that stops just next to the hole. What the fuck? How did this girl get so good at sports? She giggles, reading my mind.
“Your turn, big boy,” is her coo.
Fuck. I line up on the artificial turf, adjusting my feet and shoulders like I know what I’m doing. When the metal strikes the ball, it literally bounces off every barrier and ends up halfway between the tee and the hole before rolling to a stop.
Chloe bursts out laughing. “Wow, you’re definitely not athletic.”
I grunt.
“Try me, sweetheart. I’m athletic where and when it counts.”
She flushes with my obvious reference to Face Time and giggles again. Then, Chloe hits her ball into the hole on her second stroke and wiggles her rump playfully. Meanwhile, I basically give up and take a million shots to catch up.
“How are you so good at mini golf?” I ask once we’re at the next hole.
“We went a lot as kids,” Chloe shrugs. “With five people in the house, we got restless a lot, and there’s a place like this not far from our house. We’d spend pretty much every weekend there in the summer.”
“That makes sense. We didn’t do things like that when I was little. We’d go to the movies or something else sedentary.”
She giggles.
“My siblings and I didn’t like to sit still,” she says. “Sometimes I’d go to the movies with just my dad, but it was hard to get all five of us to stay quiet and still for two hours, much less even agree on which movie to watch. With five people, there were five very loud opinions.”
I can see that. Chloe seems to like being out and doing things, and can be assertive too. Based on what she’s told me, even when she’s home her hands need to be busy.
“Do you guys still do things like golfing?” I ask.
She grins.
“Oh, yeah. Especially since my sister has a couple of kids. We’ll go to that same mini golf place near my parents’ house with the babies because they love it.”
“It must be nice to be part of such a close family.”
Chloe shrugs and then grins.
“It can be great, but it can suck, too. They’re always up in my business like you wouldn’t believe.”
I laugh.
“Yeah, I can see how that would be frustrating. My family cares about me, but they let me live my life too.”
Chloe swings and sinks another ball in just two shots. What the hell? It’s going to be a long night, which is nice honestly, because I’m enjoying getting to know her.
“What’s your favorite food?” Chloe asks.
“Pizza,” I say. “Isn’t it everyone’s? What’s yours?”
She thinks for a second. “No, I like eggplant parmesan.”
“That’s specific.”
“It is, but I swear, my mom makes the best eggplant parm. It’s cheesy and delicious, and she cuts the eggplant really thin so it cooks through. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.”
“I hope I get to try it sometime.”
Chloe looks at me with a smile.
“I hope so, too, Brett.”
Holy shit, does that mean she wants to introduce me to her family sometime? I hope so because I’d love to meet them. I can see it now: the Francis family waiting, when I stroll in with one large arm firmly planted around Chloe’s waist. She’ll sway and giggle, and I’ll press a kiss to her lips right in front of her mom and dad. Yeah, that’d be heaven. I’m marking my territory because their daughter is mine now.
The conversation continues to flow easily as we make our way around the eighteen-hole course. At the turn, Chloe tallies up our scores, but honestly, there’s no point. It’s pretty clear who is winning because I’ve taken the maximum on nearly every hole.
“What kind of movies do you like?” I ask Chloe as we wait for the group ahead of us to finish the tenth hole.
“I really like superhero movies. And romcoms. And historical drama. But I’ll watch pretty much anything, so my dad takes me to see every new military movie that comes out. He’s obsessed and when I say obsessed, I mean obsessed.”
“Do you enjoy them?”
She smiles cheekily.
“Honestly, yeah, I do. They’re usually really good and I learn a lot. Plus, it’s nice to have something for just my dad and me because my brother and sister never got into them.”
I chuckle.
“Yeah, I know what you mean. I’m not into military stuff, because I usually watch comedies. It’s nice to go to the theater to laugh when the world has so many problems.”
Chloe lines up for her first shot.
“Totally get you. Funny and uplifting movies are great, but I usually watch them alone in my house though. I feel like when I’m laughing in the theater really loud, I’m ruining it for everyone else.”
“No, sweetheart,” I say. “That can’t be true.”
She shoots me a wry look.
“Take me to a comedy and you’ll hear me bellowing like a horse. Mr. Ed would be put to shame.”
I snort with laughter. This girl is hysterical, and I love how she just compared herself to a horse. Most women would never do that for fear of seeming awkward and ugly, but not my girl. She’s confident.
As if hearing my thoughts, Chloe taps her ball and it soars towards the hole. We both watch as it falls in on her first shot.
“I got a hole in one!” she shouts, jumping up and down and clapping.
I pull her in for a hug. “You’re amazing!”
Chloe blushes. “I’ve had a lot of practice.”
I pull her in tighter, pressing a kiss to her neck.
“I’d love to practice something else once we’re done here.”
She giggles and pushes me away.
“Brett!” she exclaims. “There are children here.”
But her sly smile tells me I’m going to get what I want later tonight. Of course, my sassy girl kicks my butt the rest of the game. I don’t even want to know what my score was, all I know is that it was very, very bad.
It’s starting to get dark and a lot of the park is closing down, but the snack stand is still open.
“How about some ice cream?” I suggest.
Chloe smiles. “Victory ice cream?”
“Yeah, yeah. You win.”
I order a vanilla cone dipped in cherry, while Chloe gets an orange cream milkshake. When our desserts are ready, we find a quiet table off to the side to eat. We talk more about our lives while hoovering up our food together.
“This is delicious,” Chloe says, taking a long chug of her milkshake. “Want to try?”
I open my mouth for the straw. She’s right, it is really good.
“Do you want some of my cone?”
“Sure.”
I hold the ice cream up for her to lick. Damn, that tongue is perfect, and I desperately want her to use it on me. But now’s not the time, and I shake away the thought. That’s not what this date is about. I want to prove that there’s more to our relationship than just physical attraction, and so far, things are going well. If my mind keeps wandering to Chloe in the bedroom, then I’ll never know for sure.
Chloe slurps the rest of her shake and the conversation falls into a comfortable silence. Oh shit, should I ask her now? Or is it too soon? I want to have the “define our relationship” talk but suddenly, I feel like a boy in eighth grade. Fuck. It’s now or never.
“Um so, I think we should talk about our relationship.”
Holy cow, my throat has a frog in it, and I think my voice even cracked a bit. Chloe smiles.
“Okay?”
“I’m your doctor,” I begin.
Chloe smiles again.
“I know. Is there a law against us dating? Should I find a new practice?”
I sigh.
“Holistic medicine doesn’t follow the same rules as traditional practices, but we do have ethical standards. Us being together is really complicated, as you’ve probably guessed.”
She cocks her head at me.
“But you won’t lose your license or anything, right?”
My expression softens. Of course, Chloe is more concerned about my job than anything else, and my heart melts.
“No, I won’t lose my licenses, sweetheart. I might get some strange looks at conferences if people find out, but it won’t hurt my practice.”
She nods.
“Then I’m okay with it, but do you still want to treat me? Would that be weird? Then again, I can’t imagine doing this with anyone else,” she says with wide eyes.
I nod.
“I want to help you with your issue, and no, I don’t want you to see someone else either. But if you’re uncomfortable ethically, I can recommend you to another practice. I’m just going to make sure that Face Time isn’t part of his repertoire.”
Her expression goes somber.
“I can’t even imagine doing Face Time with another man, Brett. It’s wrong and gross, and … ugh, I just can’t.”
I’m heartened to hear that.
“Good, I’m glad sweetheart. I want you to continue face sitting with me, and me only. I think I’d fucking slaughter another man who comes close to you that way.
She smiles.
“Oh good, I’m glad to hear.”
“That I’d kill another man?”
Her laugh tinkles.
“You know what I mean, Brett. That you’re so possessive. It makes me feel really wanted.”
I nod, my expression still fierce because honestly, I think I would commit murder if another man so much as touched a curl on her head. This woman belongs to me, and I’m marking her over and over again as my possession. Fortunately, Chloe can read my mind and she puts a soft hand on my arm.
“I’m yours, Brett,” she whispers.
I cover her hand with mine, and the touch solidifies our relationship. It’s not sexual; hell, it’s not even flirtatious. But somehow, we have a meeting of the minds, and right there at the adult amusement park, I claim this woman.
“You’re mine.”
With that utterance, the rest of our lives begin.
20
Chloe
A few months have passed since my first date with Brett, and it’s been amazing so far. I love spending time with him, and honestly, our time is magical. We never run out of things to say to each other, and we’re often bent over because we’re laughing so hard or staring at one another with amazement as we finish each other’s sentences.
It doesn’t hurt that the sex is amazing, too. I come every single time, which is incredible considering where I started. Going from never having an orgasm to having two a day has been an adjustment for my body, but I can’t stop now.
I don’t want to stop.
If I’m not careful I might end up addicted to Brett, but hey, there are worse way to die.
It’s funny too. At first, I would painstakingly go over every single outfit when we had a date. I even went shopping for new clothes, bras, and panties to make sure I didn’t look like a scrub. But my man is really sweet. He looks at me the same in a sexy dress as he does when I’m in sweats and always devours me like I’m candy to his senses.
Plus, it’s not always about the physical connection between us either. Sometimes, Brett will sit in the living room puttering away at something while I type furiously on a last-minute article. It’s comfortable and homey, and dare I say it? It’s almost like he’s my husband already because we’re so familiar with one another.
Our relationship is perfect, and I couldn’t be happier. Smiling in the mirror, I fluff my hair before grabbing my purse. We have a date, and I can’t wait. It’s almost like the first one all over again. Brett rings the doorbell and I fling open the door to give him a kiss.
“How’s my gorgeous girl?” he rumbles, his eyes eating me up.
“Oh you,” I swat playfully at his chest. “Come on, we’ve got to get to New Jersey.”
I climb into the taxi and Brett gets in behind me.
“You ready, sweetheart?”
I smile again.
“I am.”
Thirty minutes later, we’re dropped off in front of a mall in Jersey.
“Holy cow, it’s so huge. Are we shopping for anything specific?” I ask in a playful tone. “Or are we just here to get lost?”
He grins.
“A little of both,” Brett says. “My friends’ wedding is in two months and we both need something to wear. I want to show you off, sweetheart, because you are absolutely gorgeous.
I smile as my heart warms. I can’t believe this man is so into me. Me, with the big ass and poochy stomach. Me, with the giant breasts and thighs that shake. Yet, he worships me all the time in bed, and makes me feel like a goddess.
“You got it,” I say playfully. “Come on, let’s go.”
We enter, and the mall is stupendous. It’s huge, with three floors of stores ranging from clothes, to furniture, to cooking equipment, and anything else you can think of. There’s even a dentist inside, as well as a mother’s nursing room and a police station. Holy cow.
Fortunately, we don’t have to wander forever to find a tux shop. We stumble upon one within minutes, and it takes less than thirty minutes for Brett to be fitted for a new suit.
“I haven’t bought a new suit in years,” he muses as we leave the shop, slipping the receipt into his wallet for good measure. My man looked amazing in his suit, and honestly, I can’t wait to rip it off him. But I manage to stay decent, shooting him a sweet smile.
“I thought you said you’ve been in a bunch of weddings?”
“I have, but I’m usually in the wedding. I’ve rented plenty of tuxes, I just haven’t gone out of my way to buy a suit.”
A giggle escapes me.
“Oh, yeah, that makes sense. I’ve had to buy all of my bridesmaid dresses and honestly, someone should start a service renting those dresses because I never wear them again, and it costs a lot.”
“I never realized you couldn’t rent dresses. That is weird,” he muses. “Come to think of it, men can rent tuxes, so why can’t you rent a dress?”
I pull out my phone to make a note because it might make for an interesting article. I’ve been wanting to write about trends in wedding attire for a while, and have a ton of tidbits to share on how to save money when it’s wedding season. I went to three ceremonies last year and practically spent half my salary.
“Story idea?” Brett asks with a knowing grin.
I nod. “Maybe this one will actually impress Victoria. She’s been so bitchy to me lately, it’s unreal.”
It’s true. My editor has been impossible to work with for the last month, and it must be something in her personal life. She loved the article I did on alternative healing, but other than that, I can’t seem to please her. I’ve tried writing fluff pieces on hairstyles, but that didn’t work. I’ve tried additional stories on health and wellness, but she was pretty dismissive.
