It’s like I’ve been struck by lightning, and I moan slightly, parting my lips beneath his. But that small sound startles him back to reality, and he pulls away, breaking our kiss. He moves back, his brow furrowed.

“Is everything okay?” I shyly ask. He must regret this whole thing. Maybe he kissed me because he was trying to make me feel better? After all, I came to his office and threw myself the saddest pity party before calling him handsome. Oh god. What a clusterfuck.

“I shouldn’t have done that,” he growls, not meeting my eyes. “I’m sorry if I offended you.”

“You didn’t offend me,” I say quickly. “I liked it. You can kiss me again if you want to.”

His sharp gaze turns my way, those blue eyes intense.

  “Again? You sure?”

  “Yes.”

He looks pensive for a moment, but then approaches once more, kneeling down in front of me on the carpet. Oh my god, it’s like having Prince Charming take a bended knee. He clasps my hands in his, looking at our entwined fingers.

I remove one of my hands and push his hair back, getting it out of his face. He looks so conflicted, but I don’t want him to be. After all, I’m feeling close to a million different things too, but one of them is not confusion.

  I know what I want.

I very much want Pastor Jordan to kiss me again.

This time, taking the initiative, I place a gentle finger under his strong jaw and look straight into those bright blue eyes. Slowly, I bring my lips down to his, giving my consent. After all, he’s the first person I’ve ever kissed, and I don’t want him to think that I’m a naïve, virginal girl, even if that is what I am.

I moan lightly against his mouth, hoping it’s not a dumb move. In response, a growling sound comes from deep within Jordan’s throat, and suddenly, he’s seized with urgency. His hands travel down my body, skimming over my breasts and stomach, until he reaches the tops of my thighs. I can feel him heading towards my heat, and that’s what finally brings me out of the moment.

  “Wait, wait,” I plead breathlessly.

Jordan slows down and looks at me. His eyes look ready to devour my curvy form.

  “What is it?”

“It’s just that,” I trail off because I feel a little shy about this topic. I’m not used to being around men, much less gorgeous ones, and it has me all tongue-tied.

“It’s okay. You can tell me, Mira.”

I take a deep breath before looking shyly into his blue gaze.

“Well, you see, I took a Promise Vow.” I bite my bottom lip while I wait for Jordan to say something. He remains silent and I curse myself. Maybe they call it something different here. “The Promise Vow means that I promised God not to have relations until I’m married,” I add quickly.

  There’s a heavy silence for a moment.

“I know what a Promise Vow is,” Jordan responds in a low rasp. “Do you want to stop?”

“No,” I say emphatically, and it’s because I don’t. “But,” I continue, “I don’t want to break my vow either, so I’m not sure what to do.” After all, I really did mean to abide by its strictures when I took the promise. I want my wedding night to have that extra meaning dedicated to my husband, knowing that I kept a special gift for him.

Jordan looks conflicted, but then he looks at me intently.

“I understand your confusion, sweetheart. A vow is a vow, but there’s also something between us, right now, right here. It’s intense, and if you really want to keep going, there are ways we can get around your promise.”

  I’m dumbstruck.

  “But how?”

Instead of answering, Pastor Jordan holds out a big hand for me. I take it, getting out of my seat, and he leads me over to his desk before pulling me close so that my back is against his torso.

Being pressed up against his massive chest makes my knees go weak. His hard body molds to mine.

“The way we get around it,” he whispers into my ear, “is we try entering from a different hole. One that feels just as good, and is just as sacred, but which will keep you intact where it matters. Do you understand, sweetheart?”

I twist my head, so I can look at him with wide eyes. Holy cow, does he mean it? Is he saying that we should try the back way? It seems so dirty, and yet I want to be with this handsome man so much.
