The number kept looping through my head as I nipped at her collarbone while she slipped her delicate fingers under the waistband of my pants, running her fingers along my slit.

“Is everything okay?” I asked my wife, Myra.

“I-I think I’m pregnant,” she whispered.

My heart jumped in my chest. I was elated. She was carrying my child. But as quickly as it came, my elation turned into a spike of fear as I wondered how I could protect something so precious in this life.

Myra grabbed my hand and kissed it. “I’m about a month and a half along, I think. I didn’t get my last period.”

Pulling her into an embrace, I rocked us both, kissing the top of her head. “I’m going to need to go on a supply run to find stuff we need.”

“Eliseo, why can’t they get someone else?”

“Because no one is competent enough. You know this. The last time I tried to stay behind, they barely came back with anything.”

She sighed, and I promised her I would stay home this run.

Sili’s hand grabbed the head of my cock, stroking and twisting it. When she dug the tip of her finger inside my slit, my hips thrusted uncontrollably toward her, wanting more.

“You’ve been on a lot of runs, man. You sure the baby is yours?”

“The fuck you just say to me, asshole?” My fist landed on Wyatt’s face, and blood spurted out of his nose.

Sili’s nimble hands undid my pants, giving my cock room to breathe as she pulled me out and quickened her strokes, running all the way down my shaft and teasing my balls. The pleasure mounted up, knowing that the guys were just a few feet away.

My wife’s stomach and legs were mutilated beyond recognition, her eyes glazed over in an expression of fear, turned to the side. The smell of blood was strong, cloaking the air.

The phantom smell of blood made my dick throb as I released in Sili’s hand, groaning against her neck. This was so fucked up. I shouldn’t get turned on by my dead wife’s blood, but here I was. I watched as Sili brought up her hand and licked it in front of me, plunging her cum-coated fingers inside of her mouth like it was a delicacy. Groaning, I reached into her pants to find it soaked and ready for my fingers to penetrate.

  Twenty-seven years.

I was an old bastard. I shouldn’t be doing this with her.

Twenty-seven years, my mind chanted as my fingers brought her wetness up to swirl against her swollen clit and pussy lips. The facts lined up and I couldn't stop myself from inserting another finger inside of her, then a third, listening to her sharp inhales as she continued to lick up my cum from her hand, her eyes glazed over with lust and desire.

Fucking hell, twenty-seven years. My fingers pinched her clit hard and I pulled her face against the makeshift mattress to stifle her cries of ecstasy as she fluttered and spasmed, coming all over my fingers. I slipped one of my fingers inside her tight ass and bit down on her skin, sucking in her warm blood and making us one.

Licking her healing skin, I nipped at it teasingly. The world could burn down tomorrow, and I still wouldn’t regret a damn fucking thing between us. She was mine and she always would be, now and forever.

“We’re going to have to get a bigger fucking vehicle. First Samuel, now Eliseo. I can’t take this fucking shit,” Gunner grumbled.

The men laughed at Gunner who scowled, staring right at us without shame. His own hand was down between his legs, his dick sticking out of his undone pants. The head of his cock was angry and purple. I smirked as I continued to play with Sili’s pussy for my own enjoyment, torturing him. She mewled against me, trying to hide her reaction, but it was much too late for that.

“That’s a good girl. You don’t have to hide. I love the noises you make,” I cooed, staring directly at Gunner as he spilled all over himself with a growl of frustration.

The vehicle jolted back as Reed slammed on the gas, speeding up. Samuel stared daggers into me, tilting his head toward the young teenage girl inside the RV. Shit, I forgot about her.

Pulling my hand out of her pants, I got up, fixed my fly, and grabbed a random piece of fabric to wipe off. Walking past Gunner, I tell him, “That’s my pussy.”

“Fuck. We all know, you selfish old bastard.”

Sili threw her head back and laughed, rolling in the back as I continued forth until I reached the passenger seat beside Reed.

His face was still scowling as he stared at the road. I looked at him, but he didn't give notice.

“I fucking heard you. She’s yours,” he grumbled.

I snickered, putting my hands behind my head and stared out the front windshield, kicking my feet up on the dashboard with only a small amount of difficulty.

  “You’re such an ass.”

“I know, so I’ve heard,” I told him without a care. “She likes my ass, though, that’s all that matters.”

“She puts up with you, you mean. I don’t know why,” he grumbled under his breath.

I threw my head back and belly laughed, startling everyone in the RV. We drove into the night and decided that since sunrise was not too far away, we would stop and make camp off the main road.

“Gunner and I are going to see if we can catch some meat,” Reed announced as they broke off into the woods.

“I’m going to take these ladies to see if they need to relieve themselves, and gather some wood. We could use the extra hands,” Samuel announced as he took our guests with him.

“Guess it’s you and me, jailbait. Let’s set up the fire pit and find something to roast the meat when it gets here,” I purred.

“Who are you calling jailbait, old man?” Sili sassed as she exited the RV with her crossbow and bolts. “Maybe I should be calling you cradle robber.”

I choked on the term as I strapped up. If only she knew. The fact didn’t change anything about us, not here, not now. Slapping her on the ass, I closed the RV door and exited with her.

We walked around the area, gathering large stones, when Samuel called out her name. “Fitri! You got a sec?”

“Yeah? What’s up?” She handed me the stones in her hand and went off to meet Samuel.

“The ladies don’t feel comfortable with me standing watch as they piss. Can you stand guard?” he requested.

“Of course, yeah. I can do that. Watch Eliseo for me,” she said with a wink.

What the hell do I need watching for?

“I’ll make sure he keeps his dick in his pants. Yes ma’am.” Is this fucker kidding me right now?

She laughed as she gathered the two guests and headed toward an area surrounded by high bushes for concealment.

Dropping the rocks down, I began to make a circle and dug the middle in preparation for the wood. The sound of footsteps over the crunch of leaves snapped my head up. Reed and Gunner returned with a small creature they secured. It would be enough to keep us going for now. Beggars couldn’t be choosers.

“What the hell is that?” Samuel asked.

“Dinner. It doesn’t matter what it is,” Reed deadpanned.

  He got that right.

“The RV has a pot we can use. We can skin and skewer the meat over a roast, let the drippings fall into the pot and save the fat for something later,” I threw out. With the amount of food we had on hand, there wasn’t enough to make any sort of stew to increase the portions. We would have to make due.

“Yeah, that sounds good. I’ll go grab it. Reed can start skinning,” Gunner said as he walked past me.

“Why do I end up doing the dirty shit?”

“Because you’re a fucking dirty bastard. Suck it up. Everyone’s hungry.”

We all chuckled as Reed groaned and sat his ass down with the kill, pulling out his knife, grumbling about assholes as he ripped the skin off.

  FITRI

Once we were a good distance away from the men’s sight, the mother told her daughter to relieve herself first.

“What’s your name?” I asked her, trying to ease her feelings about us. I didn’t know what the future held, but I didn’t think the men were going to kill them ruthlessly. Samuel already seemed protective.

“Emma. And my daughter is Remi.”

  “I’m Fitri,” I answered.

She nodded, staring where her daughter disappeared behind the bush until she came back, rubbing her hands down her pants.

  “I’m done,” Remi said sheepishly.

“That’s good. I’ll be right behind you. This is Fitri; she’s going to stand next to you, okay?”

Watching their interaction, my heart panged with a longing for my own mother. Though, she wasn’t really my mother, was she? She loved me enough to make up for my father’s disappointments. If Maverick survived everything that happened, I wondered if there was a chance my parents did.

Emma came around the bush, fixing her pants, when my ears twitched with the sound of a light rustle of leaves.

“Ahhh!” Emma cried out in horror.

  “Momma!”

Emma was pulled into the bush, her screams echoing between the trees.

“Go to Samuel. Now!” I yelled at Remi. She sobbed, and I was stuck between finding Emma and pushing her toward someone who could guard her.

“Fitri! What the fuck happened?” Samuel’s voice didn’t sound far. Good. My adrenaline was rushing through me as I grabbed the girl and threw her in the air toward Sam. He caught her with a grunt, and I ran in the direction I last saw Emma. A trail of her blood was left on some of the leaves and the bush. Using my heightened sense of smell, I followed her trail, the bolts on my back making a racket as they jostled.

Something slammed into the tree trunk next to me, making me stop. Rolling toward my foot was Emma’s decapitated head, her eye sockets dark and empty with streaks of crimson running down like tears. Her mouth was gaped open, her jaw broken off its hinge.

Growling, I yelled out, “Show your fucking self!”

The sun had already gone down by this point, just a hint of it left over the horizon. The bushes shook beside me and I pulled my crossbow from my back, securing a bolt. My hair bristled when a dark figure walked out, dragging the rest of Emma behind him. Her neck was still spurting blood as he dropped her like a rag doll and sucked his stained finger into his mouth.

He was covered in something that camouflaged him, his presence large and domineering. He couldn’t be the guy we ran over, right? Crazy Otis talked about clones and Clan Cirse—

The stranger threw off his cloak when the rest of the sun went down, his face scraping the inside of my mind with images of torture in a military compound as his belt came down repetitively.

“You!” I growled with hate as my bolt went off.

He twisted and moved with super speed, dodging it and landing on top of me, disarming my crossbow. His hands circled around my neck and tightened as he leaned in and sniffed. “Just as sweet as I remember, hybrid. I see Sira blood runs strong in you. How did you survive?”

Eliseo leaped over me in an attempt to tackle him but missed as the vampire practically disappeared in thin air from his inhuman speed, landing beside me.

“Fucking bloodsucker!” Gunner screamed out a distance away from us and I gasped, fearing for Remi. Jumping up, I grabbed my crossbow and scrambled to get back to the camp.

Gunner and Samuel were in hand-to-hand combat with him while Remi crouched beside the RV with her hand over her ears, crying and rocking.

The smell of blood elevated the moment Samuel growled and landed on the ground. Darius, my torturer from Clan Cirse so long ago, smiled menacingly as he circled around Gunner, who had a blade out in front of him.

Eliseo caught up to me right as I locked in another bolt and aimed. Darius lunged, but Gunner dodged, slamming his knife down only to miss the killing blow when Darius twisted, slicing his arm in the process, and threw Gunner against the camper with a loud crash, almost tipping it onto its side, leaving a dent behind. Remi screamed in terror, which made Samuel growl and pull his gun from his waistband, letting off a few shots that missed and hit the trees.

My ears rang as Eliseo fired from behind me, hitting Darius in the leg, but it didn't stop him from continuing forward with the intent to kill and feed. His eyes were wild; his fangs glistened with saliva. Gunner was missing from the last spot and Samuel grabbed the vampire from behind. Eliseo was still aiming his gun, but with so much movement, we both couldn't get a good shot.

Darius threw Samuel over his shoulder and slammed him onto the ground. Eliseo let off a shot but missed again when Darius twisted, stood up, and brought his booted foot down on Samuel’s left thigh, breaking it with a loud snap. Gunner came in from behind a tree with one of the blades we acquired from Bellmore. It looked almost like a shortsword as he brought it down across Darius’ back, taking him to his knees.

Reed crept up behind Gunner who ducked and pulled the blade sideways, cutting Darius’ hamstring as Reed jumped over him and slammed his own knife into Darius’ neck from behind.

I finally let off a bolt the same time Eliseo let off a shot. It hit the target, twisting his body and taking him to the ground on his back. I didn’t see Samuel move as he grabbed the pot with his shirt and poured animal fat onto Darius’ face, making him cry out in agony as his flesh began to melt and peel away from the bone.

The combined smell of burnt flesh and animal fat actually made my mouth water as I watched him unable to roll around in his pain since my bolt was lodged in his shoulder.

Flashes of his torture ran through the back of my mind as Samuel limped over to the fire, grabbed a piece of wood, and stabbed it into Darius’ throat. The animal fat that stuck to his skin caught fire, sending tendrils of smoke into the air. Samuel fell onto his ass as Remi ran into his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck. Gunner used the shortsword to push himself up to standing, leaning against it while he watched the paralyzed vampire continue to burn and sizzle alive.

Eliseo placed a hand on my shoulder and I covered it with my own, dropping the crossbow on the dead leaves beneath me.

“You coated the arrowheads. Good girl,” he whispered.

“Didn’t we run over this guy?” Reed asked, perplexed, knife still in his crimson-coated hands. Where was he this whole time, and why was he covered in what smelled like animal blood?

  “Clones,” I answered.

The fire crackled as we all stood there, watching the vampire cook in front of us. His hand twitched, and I pulled out a gun, shooting him twice just for good measure.

“Babe, you’re going to have to get off poor Samuel. My leg hurts like a motherfucker.” Samuel tried to pry Remi’s arms off but failed. The girl was shaking with fear, her mother having died only a few moments ago. What a damn shit show.

“Remi, come here. I got you. How about you and I go relax in the RV, huh?” I coaxed her.

She shook her head vehemently as Eliseo stood beside Gunner and Reed, talking about where to chuck the vampire’s corpse. What was Clan Cirse doing so far out here? The last thing I remembered was them wanting to use me as a treaty gift to Clan Sira. Cirse was way up north, toward the snowy regions, much too far to be here. Unless, they had been searching for me, since the ‘gift’ obviously didn’t make it. Like that, another mark was on my head for execution. We were going to have to find a solution to all this, or else risk being on the run for the rest of our lives.

Samuel rubbed Remi on the back, murmuring things until she finally nodded and let go. We could see him physically exhale when she took her weight off and ran into my arms.

“It will be okay. We’ll protect you, alright?” Crouching down, I rubbed her shoulders. “You know, I lost my mom, too, when I was young. But I’m okay now. I found this great group of people who took me in when I thought I had nothing left, nothing to live for.”

The men groaned as they carried Samuel under their shoulder and helped him sit down on a fallen log a few feet away. Darius broke his leg, but it wasn’t a compound fracture, thank goodness.

“Sili, grab me some bandages when you guys get in the RV, yeah?” Eliseo called out.

I straightened and patted Remi on the back, taking her into the vehicle for safekeeping. “You stay in the back and just relax. Get some sleep. I’ll bring the food to you when it’s done.”

“Are you guys going to leave me? Please don’t leave me!” she begged through new tears.

Corralling her to the back, I laid her down on the fold-out bed. “Of course not. Where would we go? We need the RV to travel. We’ll be right outside. How about I open up some of the windows so you can hear us talk? Then you’ll know we’re still here.”

She wiped her face with the back of her hand and nodded, snuggling in a blanket. I grabbed a smaller one beside her.

Leaving her, I looked for one of our backpacks we brought with us and took out an old piece of cotton fabric. Using my knife, I ripped this particular one into strips, walking out of the RV toward the guys. The men were shaving off a branch to use as a splint as I handed Eliseo the makeshift bandages. Gunner carefully cut off Samuel’s left pant leg without jostling him.

“Here,” I called out. Eliseo began wrapping Samuel’s naked leg. Reed placed the branches on either side of Samuel’s thigh, and I started wrapping it together.

“Just my fucking luck,” Samuel grumbled. “What happened to the older woman? Did the bloodsucker get her?”

I nodded, tying off some of the bandages.

“Fucking hell,” he exclaimed, running his hand down his face.

Eliseo stood up and went to turn the meat that miraculously remained on the skewer over the fire. Reed, no longer needed to help, went to one of the bags we had outside the RV, grabbed water, and tried to wash his bloodstained hands.

“What are we going to do with the girl?” Gunner asked.

I looked over my shoulder at him. “What do you mean ‘what are we going to do?’ She stays with us. I’m not going to drop her off in the middle of nowhere to fend for herself.”

“That’s not what I meant,” he rebutted.

Straightening, I crossed my arms. “What did you mean, Gunner?”

“I’m fucking this up.” He scratched the back of his head with a sheepish look. “I’m just pretty much asking where we’re going from here, guys. We can’t stay here in case there are more from Clan Cirse following the fucker we just killed.”
