I wrinkled my nose up and said, “who would want to when there is cheese, sauce and dough baked to perfection to eat.”

Trevor again laughed, but the laugh was only a small one and when his hand reached out to cup my cheek, I damn near lost my pizza.

Trevor’s hand on my check was distracting but the way he was looking at me was more worrisome. I couldn’t read his thoughts. He obviously wanted to kiss me, but what else did he want? I waited for him to move but he didn’t. He just sat there cupping my cheek and staring at me. Then finally, he spoke.

“Do you have any idea how beautiful you are?”

I threw my pizza down on the table, not caring if it landed in the box or the floor and I said, “Oh hell.”

I moved fast. I pulled him to me taking control and kissing him. At first his lips were hard and I could tell he was shocked. But then his lips moved under my assault and he nibbled my bottom lip biting it ever so gently until someone whimpered.

Now, I will never agree that the sound came from me but the growl I heard definitely came from him. He bit down harder on my lip and I tried to gasp, only with his lips tight to mine all that happened was my mouth opened and his tongue found mine.

Oh holy hell, this was a kiss. Trevor was pulling me to him and my hands were all over him. I felt like I was being lifted into the air and then I was straddling him on my sofa. Holy shit, what was happening? Something was making me lose my mind. It was him. What was it about him that made me lose control? Shit, I needed to get this to stop, only I rubbed myself against him and the pressure built inside of me. I felt sparks as I kept rubbing.

Trevor was hard all over. His chest, his arms, his legs and the cock between his legs was freaking rock solid. I was grinding against him. He pulled my mouth harder to his. His one hand wrapped in my long blond locks and the other on my hip. Both hands pulling me to him and I didn’t want it to stop, but I had to stop this. I rocked my hips against him again and I gasped pulling my lips free of his.

“Trevor. Oh God, we need to stop.”

I rocked my hips over him again and he chuckled softly.

“Is that what you really want, Vanessa?”

I rocked my hips against him again and we both groaned. My head fell forward to rest against his.

“I don’t understand what is happening. I mean, shit. You feel so good against me, but I can’t do this.”

I wanted to move away from him, but I had to move one more time against him.

I wrapped my arms around him pulling him to my lips and let the kiss continue as I pressed down hard against him and ground my hips one more time, then I let him crush my body to his. Our bodies seemed to fit together and that kiss, his lips, oh shit, I wish I could explain.

I tore my lips from his as I pulled away.

He stopped me. “Relax, Vanessa. I’m not a high school kid. I can recognize that you don’t want this to go any further, but I damn sure want to keep kissing you.”

I shook my head. “No Trevor. We need to stop. It’s too easy to give in and just go to my room to bang one off. I’m not that girl. I don’t want that. I mean I do, but not here. Not now.”

Trevor surprised me and flipped me onto my back. He moved over top of me and pressed his body against mine. God how he fit perfectly against me. My hips arched against him and I moaned. Trevor looked down into my face and smiled.

“You are so beautiful. I can’t get enough of you.”

His head came down and captured my lips with his. I don’t know how long we stayed that way kissing, his hands roaming my body and my hands roaming his, but I felt my body quaking with every touch.

Trevor pulled back and looked into my eyes. “As much as I don’t want to stop, I need to.”

He slowly pulled back from me and reached out his hand to help me sit back up. Once we were both upright, I stood, taking the opportunity to move away to gather myself. As I tried to walk past him he grabbed my hand.

  “Where are you going Vanessa?”

I smiled down at him, “To put my flowers in some water, then I’m coming back to eat my pizza, so if you’re hungry, you better start eating.”

  Chapter 14

  Trevor

Hungry? Is the woman kidding? I was starved, but all I wanted was to strip her and feast on her soft smooth skin. I wanted to roam her body and cover every inch of it with my lips and I wanted to taste her. I wanted to feel her cum on my tongue. Stop! Stop, Trevor. Damn! I ran my hands over my head and closed my eyes to try and gather myself. The woman drove me half crazy. I watched her as she moved away, grabbing a vase, placing the flowers in it and keeping her distance. I couldn’t help but grin as I watched her. She was just as affected as I was. As I watched her, I absentmindedly ran my hand over my beard. It was growing in more. I kept it trimmed neatly, but I liked the scruff on my face. I especially liked to see the scruff marks on her face from me.

Vanessa looked over at me and said, “Why are you giving me that look?”

I chuckled at her, “What look would that be?”

She arched her brow at me, “I don’t know. The look that says you’re satisfied with something, or you think you got away with something.”

I laughed. Full out, throat raw laughed at her.

“Ah beautiful, if I was satisfied you’d be naked still sitting with me deep inside of you and my cum dripping out of you.”

I watched her eyes flare and her hands shook. Oh, yeah, she wanted it too.

“Since that didn’t happen I can assure you I am not satisfied, however sweetheart, I am satisfied to know that you want it as bad as I do.”

I watched her face change, first from desire then to a touch of anger.

“Who says I want it as bad as you do?” she challenged.

I stood up and as I moved closer to her I said, “Your body is telling me that sweetheart. Your hands shook, your eyes dilated and your breath hitched at my words.”

I moved in front of her and she held her ground which made me smirk.

“Don’t smirk at me, Slugger! I’ll slap it right off your face.”

She pushed her finger into my chest, “If and that’s a big if Mister, I wanted you that bad, I wouldn’t be standing here doing nothing. I would have already had what I wanted and then kicked you out the door. Don’t challenge me, because the replay will prove me right.”

I smiled at her and held my hands up in defense.

“Whatever you say sweetheart. Let’s go finish our pizza, but let’s remember who started that freaking kiss.”

I wiggled my eyebrow at her and she threw the towel at me from her kitchen. I couldn’t help but laugh. This woman was going to be the end for me.

We sat on the sofa eating the pizza, laughing and her dog Leo curled up on my lap as I absently ran my hand over his fur. Vanessa crossed her arms and legs on the sofa and watched me with Leo.

“I can’t believe he is in your lap and letting you pet him. He doesn’t like anyone, really. Just me. Now he’s being a little traitor.”

I chuckled and looked down at Leo, “I don’t know Leo, but I think Mommy is jealous that I’m giving you all this attention and you are in my lap. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say she’s jealous, because she wants to be in my lap again.”

  Vanessa grumbled, “You wish!”

Vanessa’s cell phone kept vibrating on the table and she would glance at it but let it remain where it was. She didn’t bother answering it while we were sitting together. I took that as a sign that she was as into this night as I was. The phone rang, and she still ignored it, but I looked down to see that the caller’s name was none other than Ben.

I scowled and looked at her. “Don’t you need to get that?”

She looked absently at the phone, then back at me.

“If I needed to get it, I would have. It’s just Ben. Lacie, Ben and I are going shopping tomorrow. He probably wants to know what time. It can wait. The only calls I always pick up are from Sunny Spot.”

I relaxed a little, but then asked, “Why are you going shopping with Ben?”

She smiled at me as she answered, “Because going to the damn Charity Ball is going to cost him. He’s buying the dress. I don’t want to go, but I’ll get a really nice dress out of the deal, so I’ll go.”

I didn’t like that he was buying her things. “If you would go with me, I’d buy you whatever you’d like.”

She laughed, “Now who sounds jealous.”

I couldn’t stop myself, I hooked my hand around the back of her neck and pulled her to me. I growled just before pressing her lips to mine, “You bet your ass I am.”

I took her lips hard and with a fierceness I felt all the way to my soul. I wanted her to be going with me to that Charity Ball and the hell with Ben. When I pulled away, I saw the lust in her eyes.

“You had better save a dance for me at the Ball.”

She smiled, “You can have every dance if you like, Ben never dances anyway.”

I grinned mentally shaking my fists in the air, stupid fucker. If he’s dumb enough to let her dance with me, then I’ll keep her by my side or better yet, tucked tight up against me all night.

“Good. Then consider your dance card filled.”

I brushed my lips against hers lightly. I pulled back looking in her eyes, “I need to go. You have a phone call to return. I’ll see you Saturday night, beautiful.”

Vanessa followed me to the door with Leo trailing behind her stretching and yawning after I put him down on the floor. When I reached her front door I turned around and said, “If I’d have asked you first, would you have gone to the Charity Ball with me and not Ben?”

She drew her brows together and said without hesitation, “Yes. Why would you ask me that?”

I grinned, “I was just wondering if I stood a chance against the good doctor.”

She grinned, “Oh, I’d say your odds are pretty good. Ben’s an easy out, you well you just keep swinging that bat and I know there will be some base rounding, maybe even a hard slide into home plate.”

I groaned at her words, grabbed her to me and kissed her hard, letting her know I was ready for that slide, but not tonight.

I took that high and opened the door walking through it to my car. I turned once I was just about at my car and she was still standing in the doorway watching me. Oh yes, Ben Collins, I’m going to win the girl, so you had better be prepared. I’m not giving up on her.

When I picked Jayden up from my mom’s he had fallen asleep on her sofa. I smiled at him laying with his head on her lap as she stroked his head of dark hair.

“Was he good for you, Mom?”

She smiled up at me, “Of course he was. He always is. How was your night?”

  I grinned, “Good.”

She laughed, “Must have been. I haven’t seen you smile like that in a long time.”

I leaned against the arm of the chair opposite of my mom and said, “I haven’t felt this way in a long time. It’s kind of scary, but yet,” I trailed off.

My mom didn’t let it go.

  “Yet, what?”

I shook my head, “It’s scary but yet it somehow feels right. Does that even make any sense?”

She chuckled, “When can I meet this girl?”

I stood up moving closer to her. I bent down and kissed her cheek.

“When I know she is going to stick.”

After debating taking Jayden home, my mom won, and I carried him upstairs to his room in her house and as he settled into his pillow, I kissed his forehead telling him I loved him and he never stirred, but it was tradition, I always told him how much I loved him.

I went home alone and it felt empty. I had such a nervous energy tonight. I wasn’t sure if it was being alone in the house or if it had to do with the woman I couldn’t stop thinking about. I pulled my phone out and texted her.

  Me: Are you sleeping?

Vanessa: Yes, stop bothering me. I need my beauty rest.

Me: Very funny. If you get anymore beauty rest, then I’m seriously going to lose control the next time you kiss me.

Vanessa: Oh please! Like you don’t have supermodels lined up at your door.

Me: Oh they’re lined up, but I can’t seem to get the snarky, beautiful woman I had pizza with tonight out of my head

Vanessa: Really? That is no way to make a woman feel special, telling her that you have women lined up. That’s a really foul ball.

Me: Well if you would just give in and tell me how much you can’t resist me, then I wouldn’t have to resort to trying to make you jealous.

Vanessa: Stuck up much, Slugger? Goodnight.

Me: You want me, Vanessa. Just admit it.

No response from her so I laughed and just typed in, Goodnight. I’d let her be for now, but I could tell she wanted me. I saw it on her face. I felt it in how her body responded to mine.

I woke up early in the morning. I ran by a fast-food chain and grabbed breakfast sandwiches for myself, Mom and Jayden. When I got to her house Jayden was just trying to decide on his breakfast.

  “Daddy!”

He ran to me and I quickly dropped my bag on the counter and scooped him into my arms.

“Hey there, buddy. How was your night?”

He kissed my cheek and said, “You didn’t come back for me.”

I chuckled. “Yes I did, but Grandma wanted to keep you here so I carried you up to your bed and tucked you in.”

  He smiled. “You did?”

I tapped my finger to his nose, “Of course I did. I love you Jayden and I’ll never go away. I may be gone a night or two, but I’ll always come back for you. It’s always you and me, buddy.”

He grinned from ear to ear, “And Grandma!”

I put him down and tussled his hair, “Of course, and Grandmom. Now come on, I picked up breakfast so I could see you this morning then I have to head into work.”

My mom smiled at me and I winked at her as Jayden climbed up onto his stool waiting for me to unwrap his breakfast sandwich. We sat and ate together with Jayden taking most of the conversation. He was my world. I laughed at the excitement he had for everything. He told me how he was going with Grandmom to an Animal Shelter to walk the dogs. He told me that they needed some love and attention so Grandmom volunteers to give them love and take them for walks. I laughed at how excited he was to be doing that.

“You do know that we cannot bring a dog home right?”

Jayden nodded his head, then looked like he had more to say.

“Spit it out, buddy. What’s going through your brain?”

He beamed one of his smiles that was hard to resist at me then said, “But why, Daddy? I mean if the dogs need someone to give them love, why not me? I have lots of love to give.”

I put my arms around him and kissed his head.

“I know you have lots of love to give them Jayden, but you are going to be heading to preschool soon, and Daddy works a lot. It just wouldn’t be fair to the dog because we’d be gone so much.”

Jayden nodded but there was sadness in his eyes. I hated to disappoint him, but It really wasn’t fair to bring a dog home when we weren’t home enough.

I left for work and still thought about the conversation over breakfast. Maybe Jayden was right. Maybe we did need a dog. I enjoy seeing Vanessa’s dog and Jayden would adore him. No, I’m right. We just aren’t home enough to commit to a dog right now. Maybe once things slow down or maybe once Jayden gets settled into preschool we can revisit the dog discussion. Right now, I need to get my head on my job and just my job. Vanessa has been consuming my brain and I need to shut that down. I have a lot to handle over the next few days and I can’t have her distracting me.

When I walked into my office, it was like an explosion went off. My desk was layered with contracts that needed review, my phone didn’t stop ringing and by noon I felt like it should have been midnight. My secretary, Rae, was running in and out of my office with files I kept asking her for in between answering the ringing phone. Finally, at about three thirty p.m., the office settled into a calm and I felt like I could kick back for a few minutes and take a breath.

Rae knocked on my door holding a basket that looked like a giant baseball filled with things.

“Um, Trevor. It would seem you have a delivery. I stood up and walked toward her taking the basket from her.

  “What on earth is this?”

She grinned, “I’m not sure, but somebody really must like baseball.”

I looked at her and started laughing. Vanessa. Of course. What was this all about I wondered. I took the basket to my desk laughing.

Rae followed behind me, “I am assuming you know who this is from then?”

I looked over my shoulder at her. “I have an idea.”

Rae grinned, “God I want to know what is in this basket and who sent it, but I will leave and give you your privacy.”

I smiled, “Thank you Rae. Close the door on your way out please. In fact, take the rest of the day off. You earned it this morning with how crazy it was.”

Rae laughed as she headed out my door saying, “She must be something special. I can’t believe you just gave me the rest of the day off, I mean after the morning we had I should be here at least till eight cleaning up everything that needs to be finished, but hey, I like this woman if she can continue to get me out of here early.”

There was no time to respond as the door clicked closed behind her.

I walked to my chair before delving into the basket. What was she up to? I found a treasure of baseball themed items. There were giant cookies decorated as baseballs, there was microwavable popcorn bags decorated with baseballs, a pen that looked like a bat, baseball boxer shorts and a stainless-steel coffee mug that was engraved with Slugger.

I sat there laughing as I opened the card. When I opened the card two baseball tickets fell out for this Sunday’s game.

  The card read…

I owed you one. I don’t like owing anyone anything and since you brought me flowers and pizza I figured this would repay you. Plus, I really want to go to the game on Sunday. So don’t plan on taking anyone but me, Slugger. Can’t wait to see your moves Saturday night at the ball, Cinderella!
