The minute that Eliza had learned about everything that Jordan had been doing throughout the time that he had been spending time with Jeremiah, it had seemed that there had been all kinds of trouble starting and it had everything to do with the way that Jordan had been acting since the day that they had returned to this particular time period. Jordan might have been spending his time taking a variety of different classes but he had found himself thinking about the way that his classes would have been if they had remained in their original time period. The one thing that Jordan eventually had to admit was that things were definitely different when it came to the way that certain things would eventually end up being taught during a single school year. A school year that Jordan would have loved to be working on these very same subjects if he had been given the opportunity to show people everything that he had learned from the very beginning. Now it had seemed that Jordan would still get the opportunity to show the different things that he had learned throughout the entire time that he was attending these classes, but even then there had been quite a few things that he had found himself thinking about after everything was said and done. Sarah knew that the bosses were going to notice everything that Jordan had been doing, and it would be mainly because of these things that Jordan would end up with a bigger and better job that he had seemed to want right from the very beginning. Jordan had seemed to know that this was something that he had wanted and nothing was ever going to stop any of these things that were happening. Even when Jordan had been finding different ways to help Jeremiah with the anger and jealousy he had been using in the beginning, he had never thought that there would end up being a time that he would be trading places with Jeremiah when he was least expecting it. In many ways Jordan was sure that these things had been a result of all the time traveling he was doing in order to keep himself and his family rather safe. Jordan knew that Eliza was doing the same thing when it came to her own family and it was during that first time that she had been in this time period that Sarah and Eliza had seemed to become the best of friends. They would often talk about anything and everything that had happened throughout the entire time that they had been the best of friends. Lately Eliza had seemed to have other things on her mind and that had included everything that had happened when Jordan had found out where Eliza was throughout that entire time. Even though Jordan might have been struggling with certain things, that wasn’t the case with Eliza. Since she had spent so much time in this time period when Jordan had noticed that Eliza and her family had been missing knowing that there were different things happening that nobody else had seemed to understand right from the very beginning. Jordan knew that before long he would have to get used to being in this time period even if he had to keep himself busy with homework and a variety of other things so that he would not be thinking about the different ways that he could return to his own time period. Jordan knew that this was something that was impossible, but it was something that he would find himself trying to do if he had not been kept rather busy throughout the day. Eliza knew that staying busy had not been the only reason that Jordan had decided to take the classes that he was currently taking, but there was no way that she could honestly explain any of these things to the people that they were always spending time with, especially after everything that had supposedly taken place once everything was officially said and done.

  Right from the moment that Jordan had realized that there were quite a few people out there that had realized that there were certain things happening that had led to Jordan making the decision that he did when it came to the classes that he was taking, it had seemed that Jordan had his own reasons for thinking that he should not say much until he knew exactly how people would react once they knew that he was from a different time period. Even though Jordan knew that Eliza had gone through these things before he was still finding it difficult to believe that Eliza had made it through those college years without other people telling her how amazing she actually was. Jordan had been in love with Eliza for the longest time and even he knew that there was always that part of her that had wanted to learn anything and everything that she possibly could if it meant that she would be able to help different members of her family adjust to the time period that they were in. Jordan and Eliza knew that this was something that was eventually going to help everyone that had traveled to this time period with them, and the fact that the portal would never again be opened, was something that they would all be dealing with for a rather long time. Jordan would have to settle for helping other people learn about the fort and the terrible things that had happened during the war, but in the end it would all be worth it. At least that was what he was hoping for throughout that entire time. A time that he honestly thought that he would never get used to depending on the things that were happening throughout those hours that he had been away from the fort and the events that would eventually be taking place. Events that would have everything to do with the war and the terrible things Jordan and Eliza had witnessed when they had been back in their own time.

  Flashback

  Linda Crabtree was finding it hard to believe that she was given the opportunity to keep the teaching job that she had been hired for several years earlier. She could still remember the day that all of these things had happened because that had been the year that Alexander had made the decision that he was not going to return to the school after his family had ended up in a situation that had eventually put Alexander in danger. At least that was the way that Alexander had seen things after the school year had ended during the previous year. Alexander had not really wanted to leave, but during that time he had honestly felt that he did not really have a choice in the matter. His daughter had been going through a number of different things that she had wished her father was able to be there for, and because of where he had been teaching Alexander had missed several different events that had taken place in his daughter’s life. Things had not been any better with the woman that Alexander had been married to and by the time that these changes had been made it was already too late. His wife had made the decision that it would be for the best if they had just stayed away from each other. At least for the time being. Alexander had found himself doing everything that he could to fix the relationship that he had with his family, but knowing that sooner or later he would be returning to teach at one of the many schools that had been out there was something that was always going to be rather difficult for Alexander and the members of his family. Alexander had stayed in the same town as his family but you could already tell that it had put a lot of strain on them over the years. Years that Alexander could have easily spent having fun with his family if he had only thought about the hell he was putting them through when he would be teaching at the school that Sarah and Eliza had been attending when they were younger. Linda had remembered both of these young girls, especially since Sarah had always seemed to do whatever she could to help Linda learn about everything that Alexander would have done if he had decided to stay at the school throughout that particular school year. That had been the year that Mr. Michaels had found himself having to search for a different teacher that would be taking over for Alexander during the time that he would be going back to the town or city where his wife and daughter had been living and dealing with a variety of different things that he honestly felt that he should have been there for every time that his daughter had a special event that was taking place during the time that he had been teaching at this particular school never thinking about the things that his wife and daughter had been dealing with for the longest time.

  Throughout the entire time that Alexander had been dealing with all of these things with his family and attempting to find another teaching job that would be a little closer to home, Linda had been hired to take over the fourth grade class that Alexander had eventually abandoned for reasons that only Mr. Michaels had seemed to know about as well as Alexander. Linda had been told about these things about a year later when Sarah and her best friend had started the fifth grade after helping Linda with a few things that she had been attempting to do when she had realized that the students in her class were expecting to see Alexander as their teacher and were looking forward to the field trips that he would have planned after the school year had officially started. Linda had made it through that first year but things were still getting to that point where she was nervous about everything that she had been through once certain things had started happening within her own life that she had always stayed rather quiet about despite the fact that there was always someone around that had seemed to understand what she had been going through even without her saying something during that time. Linda knew that most of the teachers that she was usually working with during the time that she had taken over the fourth grade class would understand about the reason that certain things had seemed to always be happening throughout the school year. Even after she had been doing everything that she could to get custody of her daughter while keeping the job that she had throughout that entire time. It wasn’t until after Linda had taken over and several years had actually gone by that Linda had found out that Alexander was back and had been asking about the possibility of getting his job back after the amount of time that he had been gone. It had seemed that Alexander had not stopped to think about the things that Mr. Michaels had gone through when it came to finding a replacement after he had left without realizing the things that he might be putting his new class through and the things that the principal might have been forced to go through during the time that he had decided that he would not be coming back for the new school year. Linda had found herself not only sharing the fourth grade teaching position with Alexander but during the time that she had been working with him she had found herself developing feelings for him that she had honestly thought would never be happening after the divorce and long custody battle that she had been in when it came to her daughter. Either way, Linda knew that she would have to keep her feelings for Alexander under control and hope that there was someone out there that would realize that Linda was doing her best to remain professional during the entire time that Alexander had been attempting to get his old job back and was working with her until the parents and school board had actually voted on who would be the teacher for that class throughout the rest of the school year.

  Around the time that Alexander had learned that he would no longer be able to continue teaching in the same class that he had abandoned several years earlier he had found out that his wife had filed for a divorce and eventually planned on getting custody of their daughter since it had been obvious that he was hardly around during the times that he had been teaching at the same school that Sarah and her friends had been attending around the time that he had decided that he would no longer be teaching at the school. It had taken several years of never finding a new job for Alexander to decide to go back and he had asked them all if they would like to go with him but his wife and daughter had decided to stay where they were. Then Alexander had found out exactly what the reason was after he had attempted to get his old teaching job back only to find out that he had already been replaced. This had always been something that was rather difficult for Alexander especially after he had learned about the divorce and the custody battle that he would eventually find himself going through after everything was said and done. For a while Alexander had found himself working with a woman named Linda and even then there had been a few things that had seemed to be getting in the way. Alexander had been doing everything that he could to show people that it did not matter who he was working with because he could always remain professional after certain things had taken place. Linda had made that rather difficult ever since the day that they had met and started working together, but Alexander was not about to admit to any of these things. At least not during that particular time when he had been working with Linda after everything that had eventually taken place throughout that particular school year. He knew that sooner or later this was something that the school board would be voting on and all he could honestly do is hope that they would decide that he should be able to keep this job after the hell that he had honestly gone through for the longest time.

  It had taken quite some time before this issue had been taken care of and even then it was completely obvious that Alexander had ended up getting a different teaching job that he had never been expecting for whatever reason. A reason that Mr. Michaels had seemed to think that he did not have to explain as long as Alexander had still had a teaching job of some kind. Deep down Alexander knew that he had deserved the things that he had coming, especially with the way he had left all those years earlier. In some ways Alexander had found himself wondering what had happened during the time that he had left his fourth grade class knowing that his new students would be wondering why he had left the school in the way that he did and the reason that he had honestly felt that he just could not handle teaching at the school after certain things had honestly taken place. He had been unable to return to the school as early as he had wanted to and it was more than a little obvious why he had felt that he would have to stay in the same place as his wife and daughter even if it meant that he would eventually find himself giving up the job that he had honestly loved throughout that entire time. Now that he was back it was obvious that things were going to be very different. Different in ways that Alexander could have never realized once he had met Linda and seen the way that she had been teaching many of her classes. He had to admit that Linda was not only a beautiful woman but she was one hell of an amazing teacher. Alexander had never mentioned these things to anybody whenever he was talking about Linda, but he was pretty sure that they had understood everything once they had started talking to her after the school day had officially ended. Alexander had seen a number of occasions when some of the teachers had been watching Linda rather closely during the hours that she was getting ready to return home to her daughter. None of the other teachers had realized the hell that Linda went through just to keep her daughter and now she was doing whatever she could to help Alexander in her own special way.

  Alexander had spent his free time talking to Linda while they were waiting to find out who would be given the chance to keep this particular teaching job. A teaching job that Linda had kept ever since the day that Alexander had left and had decided that he would not be returning unless the teaching job had been closer to his own family. Now that he was back, Alexander was finding himself facing bigger problems that he had never imagined would have taken place, even if he had been fighting with his soon to be ex-wife throughout that entire time. Either way, Alexander knew that there were certain things that he would have to do if he had ever hoped to get complete and full custody of his daughter regardless of the things that his ex-wife had felt should have been happening after Alexander had returned to the school that he had been teaching at throughout the time that his daughter had needed him at different times in her own life. Alexander had seemed to realize that he would be spending his time talking to Linda about the different things that he had been dealing with and that had included the fight that he was having with his wife about who deserved to have custody of their daughter Shawna who had always seemed to think that there were things happening that neither of her parents had seemed to realize throughout that entire time. Alexander did not know that Shawna had been thinking about these things even if it doesn’t seem to be remotely possible after everything that she had gone through at different times. If he had honestly realized these things he would have found some way to tell his daughter that he was still there for her no matter what her mother might have said about him during that entire time. Shawna had known that there were different things that his parents were going through when they had least expected it, especially after her father had decided that he was going to return to the school where he had been teaching at throughout the entire time that she had been growing up. Deep down Shawna had hoped that her mother would understand the reason that she had wanted to be able to stay with her father, no matter where her father would be living during that entire time. Shawna’s mother had a different idea about these things that were happening throughout that entire time.
