Whenever Sarah had taken the time to talk to her parents about different things that had to do with Jeremiah it had always seemed that they had found different reasons to complain about the different things that he was always doing whenever they had been together. Sarah knew that her parents would find so many different reasons to complain about Jeremiah regardless of the things that had taken place right from the very beginning when their relationship had supposedly started. All that Sarah knew for certain was that her parents would never fully understand the things that she had gone through for the longest time. Either way, Sarah was relatively certain that there were a few things that her parents had not understood that her best friend always had understood everything that she had understood right from the very beginning. No matter what Sarah and Eliza were often talking about, it had seemed that Sarah’s parents and Jeremiah had often been the main topic that had come up throughout that entire time, even after Sarah’s parents had heard about all of these things and had attempted to put a stop to everything that was happening. The one thing that Sarah and Eliza knew for certain was that there was absolutely no way that Sarah’s parents would ever understand that Sarah and Jeremiah had belonged together right from the very beginning. During the time that Sarah and Jeremiah had been spending their time together it had become increasingly obvious that Jeremiah was determined to get the approval of Sarah’s parents long before he had finally asked her the one question that he had been dying to ask her almost from the moment that they had attended Eliza and Jordan’s wedding. Jordan had not exactly been surprised by any of these things only because he knew that it was something that Jeremiah had been determined to do almost from the moment that they had started spending their time together over the years. Eliza knew that this was something that Sarah’s parents had never seemed to understand, even after Sarah had taken the time to come to their house and spend the holidays with them knowing that it was honestly causing all kinds of trouble for Sarah when it came to her relationship with Jeremiah, even when there had been different times that her parents had not seemed to approve of the amount of time that she was spending time with Jeremiah throughout the times that she had not been working. Everyone had seemed to know that Sarah and Jeremiah would always have the same amount of time off that Jordan and Eliza would often have off depending on the various things that had been happening at different times. Times that there had often been special events taking place at the fort where the extra help was often needed. Jeremiah knew that after Jordan and Eliza had been married that they would still work at the fort depending on how busy their lives had gotten at different times. Now was definitely one of those times when their lives had seemed to be rather busy even with the amount of time that they were attempting to help Sarah deal with her parents at that particular time.

  Sarah had often found herself spending time in the same house where her parents had been living. Sarah had honestly hoped that there would be times that she could be talking to her parents and explain to them about the reason that she had felt the way that she did from the very beginning. Sarah had felt that her parents had never thought about everything that their daughter had been going through every time that they had decided that they were never again going to trust Jeremiah depending on the things that were taking place at different times. Sarah knew that her parents were finding different reasons to show that they just could not accept Jeremiah as the one person that Sarah was determined to stay with regardless of how her parents might have felt throughout that entire time. Jeremiah and Jordan both knew how Sarah’s parents had felt about the things that were often happening from the moment that Sarah and Jeremiah had started dating rather seriously. At least that was something that they had always seemed to be talking about whenever they had seemed to be spending all of their time together regardless of the time that they were spending time at work and even during the time that they had often spent away from where they were working. Jordan had continued working at Fort Stanwix primarily because he had gone through all kinds of hell to prove that it was something that he had wanted for himself for a variety of different reasons. Reasons that only certain people had seemed to honestly understand right from the very beginning. Now that certain things had seemed to be changing Jeremiah was pretty sure that he would have to figure many of these things out entirely on his own. Even though he had appreciated the help that Jordan had been giving him, things had just been different and now Jeremiah must face all of these struggles completely on his own.

  Jeremiah knew that Sarah’s parents had hated him because of his jealousy, but that was not about to keep him from doing something that he had wanted to do for the longest time. Right now Jeremiah was determined to prove to Sarah’s parents how important she was to him and if that meant dropping every dream that he had ever had for himself then that was exactly what he was going to do. Jeremiah knew that Sarah would not want him to give these things up, but at the same time she knew that Jeremiah had felt that he had to prove himself to her parents after everything that had eventually taken place throughout the entire time that he would be spending time with her parents. Jeremiah was ready for Sarah’s parents to give him even more of a hard time about certain things when it came to their daughter. A daughter who was proving to be just as stubborn as her parents had been over the years. Jeremiah could see these things right from the moment that he had started trying to show them that he was not as bad as they were honestly attempting to make it seem throughout that entire time. Sarah and her parents might have been spending time together at different times, but that had not kept her parents from deciding that Jeremiah had not been the right person for her. Sarah had known otherwise but convincing her parents was definitely going to be something that was going to be rather difficult. Sarah and Jeremiah eventually found themselves working together in the hopes that they could figure out everything that would get her parents to understand everything that they were putting Sarah and Jeremiah through during that time, and it was all because they could not take the time to accept Jeremiah for the person that he was and how important he was to Sarah throughout the entire time that they had been together. Jeremiah had seemed to realize, however, that there would be different ways that they could eventually get Sarah’s parents to see why they had wanted their approval when it came to something that had been this serious and would eventually let Sarah and Jeremiah take the next step in their current relationship. A relationship that had been rather serious ever since the day that Sarah and Jeremiah had met all those years earlier. No matter what it was going to take Jeremiah was determined to spend his time with Sarah’s parents attempting to get them to understand the reason why this had been so important not just to him but to Sarah as well. Sarah knew that Jeremiah was determined to fix the terrible things that had happened that had caused her parents to make the decisions that they did when it came to whether Jeremiah was the right person for their daughter or not throughout that entire time. Sarah knew that Jeremiah was going to have a hard time convincing her parents about all of these things, but in the end she had hoped that her parents would at least give Jeremiah the chance that he rightfully deserved during that time.

  It had taken several months before Jeremiah was able to show Sarah’s parents that he had changed and that his jealousy had no longer gotten under control so that all of these changes had eventually taken place before Sarah had even realized what was happening for many reasons. Reasons that even Sarah’s parents had never noticed when all of these things had first started happening when Jeremiah was first starting to consider asking Sarah to marry him after Eliza and Jordan’s wedding months earlier. Sarah knew that Jeremiah was doing everything that he could to eventually show her parents that he had changed, but in the end it would be something that Sarah would have to do that would show her parents that Jeremiah was not the same person that they had believed that he had been from the moment that she had started dating him all those years earlier. Sarah knew that Jeremiah’s jealousy had always seemed to be a problem for her parents for quite some time and this time they were going to have to realize just how much Jeremiah had honestly and truly changed. At least that was what Sarah had hoped would happen during the time that Jeremiah had made the attempt to talk to her parents about the reason that certain things had seemed to be happening and the reason that he had seemed to be so determined to get their approval before he had finally asked Sarah to marry him the way that he had been wanting to do for the longest time. When all of these things had seemed to be happening Sarah had found herself talking to Eliza in the hopes that there would be something that Eliza could eventually do that would get her parents to understand the reason that these things had seemed to be rather important to her right from the very beginning. All that Sarah knew for certain was that her parents would have to understand the things that she was going through regardless of how they had felt about Jeremiah and the things that he had done when his jealousy and anger had seemed to be taking more control than anything else that had seemed to be taking place for quite some time.

  Several days after Sarah had talked to Eliza about the problems that she had been having it had seemed that Sarah’s parents had finally started to realize just what they were causing almost from the very beginning. They had always told Sarah that jealousy and hatred was something that you should never use just to get the things that you had wanted, and yet here they were giving Jeremiah a hard time simply because they had not liked the things that he had done all those years earlier. They were not willing to give him a proper chance just because they were jealous of the amount of time that Sarah had been spending with him while at the same time it had seemed that her best friend had honestly been more accepting of this relationship than her own parents had ever been after certain things had seemed to be taking place. They had refused to see that Sarah had grown up and was just wanting to live her life like any other young woman was attempting to do that was out there in the world and here they were throwing roadblocks in every possible direction to make something of this nature rather impossible and almost destroying the happiness that their daughter had honestly wanted. Sarah’s parents had not said anything to Sarah about it but it was because of Eliza that they had started to understand these things and knew that they would eventually have to change even if it meant that they would have to accept that Jeremiah was honestly a rather big part of their daughter’s life. A part of her life that obviously would never disappear or go away and that it would help if they could make the attempt to realize he was one of the many people that had honestly made Sarah very happy.

  Flashback

  Linda Crabtree was sitting in her classroom while her students had been outside for their short recess time when she had found herself thinking about Alexander and the things that they had been through ever since he had learned that Shawna had wanted to move into the same house that he was living in and Shawna’s mother had finally decided that she would stop giving him such a hard time after their divorce had become final. Shawna had somehow managed to convince her mother that things would be easier if she was able to live with her father while her mother had spent her time traveling around the entire world for the job that she was currently doing claiming that it had been to support her daughter. Linda had heard all about these things throughout the entire time that she had been working with Alexander and a part of her had honestly wanted to help him despite everything that had been happening whenever he had found himself having to deal with the court and lawyers simply because of everything that his ex-wife had been putting him through for the longest time. Linda had refused to admit throughout that entire time that she was developing romantic feelings for one of her co-workers, knowing that he was already going through a rather hard time and people were expecting him to forget about certain things that had taken place before his divorce had officially been finalized.

  The day that Shawna had moved in with her father had seemed to be one of the craziest days of Linda’s life. Her own daughter had seemed to notice that her mother had been staying rather quiet about her own feelings for Alexander mostly because of the struggles that he had seemed to be going through when he had first learned that he was losing his family. At least that was what he had honestly believed despite the struggles that he was going through from the moment that he had started teaching at his old school and his wife and daughter had seemed to hate him enough to decide that they were never going to follow him after certain things had seemed to be happening. Shawna had been attempting to get her mother to see that the best place for her had been with her father and that it would help Shawna as well as her mother when it came to the different things that had been happening. It had helped in many ways that Shawna and Linda’s daughter had always seemed to get along and could talk about the different things that they were dealing with when their parents had not only gotten divorced but were eventually getting ready to start dating again knowing that their kids would be a rather important part of their lives. Throughout the entire time that these things were happening it had seemed that everything had been leading toward Alexander and Linda eventually getting together. At least that was something that these young girls had noticed almost from the very beginning. The one thing that Alexander and Linda had not seemed to realize was that there were certain things their daughters had been doing in the hopes that they could get their parents together knowing that this was honestly something that Linda and Alexander had wanted from the very beginning.

  Alexander and Linda had continued spending their time together, even after it had become obvious that Linda had been able to keep this particular teaching job when everything was said and done. Shawna could not keep from smiling when she had found out about the fact that her father had found someone that he had loved almost as much as he had loved her mother all those years earlier. Linda had seemed to realize that her daughter had been doing everything that she could to see her happy and that had included doing whatever she could to get Linda to realize how much she had loved Alexander, even if it was something that she had not been ready to admit to her daughter. Shawna had noticed the same thing about her father at different times and could not keep from smiling. She knew that sooner or later things were going to change and for the first time in a while her father would actually find himself being honestly and truly happy. Once Shawna had started attending the same school as her best friend they had found themselves figuring out different ways that they would be able to get their parents together and eventually start planning a way that they could become the sisters that they had wanted to be. Alexander and Linda had absolutely no idea that their daughters were making every attempt to play matchmaker and eventually get their parents together just the way that they had wanted them to be for quite some time. This time they were willing to do whatever it was going to take in order to make sure that their parents were happy and if that meant that they would spend their time together then that was what these two beautiful girls would do no matter how long it was going to take.

  For several days after Shawna had met Linda’s daughter it had seemed that they had become the best of friends and even then there were certain things that they had felt that they could talk about with each other that they had honestly felt that their parents would never really understand. At least that was honestly how they had felt throughout that entire time. Both girls had been struggling with the fact that their parents had recently gone through a rather nasty divorce and at the same time had been dealing with a bad custody battle that had literally caused all kinds of hell for the girls in so many different ways. The fact that Shawna was finally able to be as normal as humanly possible while getting the opportunity to help her father find the happiness that he had rightfully deserved. Happiness that Shawna had always wanted for him no matter where he was living and teaching at that particular time. When Shawna had mentioned certain things about her father to Linda and her daughter it was becoming increasingly obvious that Linda could not keep fighting her feelings for Alexander regardless of how badly things had seemed to be getting throughout that entire time. Alexander had often found himself thinking about Linda and the amount of time that they were often spending together, even after they had gotten custody of their children. Linda would have admitted her true feelings to Alexander if it had not been for the fact that she was often thinking about her daughter and the things that would eventually be better for her than the things that Linda had always wanted for quite some time. She knew that her daughter was often spending her time hanging out with Alexander’s daughter, Shawna, and that both of these girls had been talking about plans that neither of their parents had ever known about for the longest time. It was Shawna that had done anything about the plans that they had made that would hopefully get Alexander and Linda together, but even she had known that this was something that would take a rather long time to get done in the way that she had been planning with her best friend.
